Are the Panthers for real?

At this stage it sure looks like they are, after a convincing win in Miami against the 10th ranked Hurricanes.

Thought to be the first real test for the Panthers this season, it turned out to be nothing more than a blowout. After keeping the game close early, the Panthers defense stepped up in a big way, picking off 'Canes QB Jacory Harris 3 times, and also causing two fumbles. When Harris wasn't throwing interceptions he was running for his life, as the Panthers also racked up 6 sacks throughout the course of the contest.

Tino Sunseri had an ok night, though trying the ball into coverage twice ended up turning into interceptions. It's something the first year QB will grow out of though as he matures.

Dion Lewis was his normal self but carrying the ball to keep pressure of his young QB and picking up 120 yards on 20 carries to go along with two touchdowns.

The Panthers next host FIU with a host of recruits coming to Heinz Field to watch the action.

Something happened to my summary of the Tulane game. Anyway, Cougars win 32-7 despite Keenum going 12-24 for 154 yards and a pick. Maybe he doesn't like Robertson Stadium for some reason. Bryan Beall ran for well over 100 yards and had three TDs. The defense came up with 2 safeties and a couple more INTs. Encouraging that the Cougars managed to win fairly easily despite a poor showing from Case. Here's hoping the running game stays effective.

I don't even need to write a summary about my game. I just lost 24-21 to friggin' IOWA STATE

I sucked. Offense sucked, defense sucked, everything sucked.

The biggest killer here was defense. I couldn't make the necessary and important stops on third down in the second half to give myself a better chance.

Texas escapes from Dallas with a 27-24 victory over OU on a last second field goal to win the game.

7..SEVEN fucking turnovers and no one wanting to hold on to the ball kept us from doing anything but a timely fumble from OU and two missed FG's late in the game gave Texas glimmer of hope which they used to race down the field and kill time to set up the winning field goal.

Next up is a bye week to lick their wounds and try to figure out what went wrong.
-----------
I'd like to take this time and also ask that when playing a game, don't sim the results, please. I know it might be a blow-out but just set your gameplan to "conservative" and it'll eat up clock while you're on offense.

Well in a SHOCKING turn of events, the Houston Cougars got involved in an offensive shootout! I KNOW, whoda thunk it? They travelled down to Starkville, Mississippi and managed to hold off the Mississippi State Bulldogs 42-38. Neither team exhibited a desire to play defense, except for a UH 90 yard fumble return for a touchdown. The game was up in the air until a 4th down heave to the endzone was batted down with less that 30 seconds to go by yours truly (I wasn't taking a chance on the CPU doing it). Unfortunately for the Cougars, running backl Bryan Beall sprained an elbow on a kickoff return and will be out for 4 weeks. Game ball goes to Case Keenum, who rallied the troops and finished 15-22 for 326 yards and 4 TDs, resulting in a 252.6 passer rating. Fun but nervewracking game, let's hope next week's game against cross town rival Rice is a bit less strenuous on the nerves.

In other news, the Cougars would also like to welcome a new signee to the 2010-2011 recruiting class:

Dan Weber - 6'1", 179 lb. *** CB from Richardson, TX

Finished my game against ND.

Surprised they were 1-4, but they did have their starting QB out.

I beat them pretty easily 37-14. I couldn't really pass much in the first half, so I just ran Lewis who had another 200+ yard game. In the 2nd half I controlled the tempo and just ate the clock.

Hoping I get some recruits to sign soon. I have a **** TE that committed the first week, and now have a bunch of other guys who are on the verge of committing.

Ho hum. That about summed up the UH/Rice game. No real game here as it was over early and I spent most of the game experimenting on defense. Final score 55-21. It could have been worse but my receivers suddenly forgot how to catch the ball as I was going for 60+. Keenum had a decent game as I was trying to get him back on top of the Heisman race. Two interceptions (including one where the safety managed to reach behind himself while running the other way), but he more than offset that by finishing with 423 pass yards and 6 TDs. Player of the game though was my DE Riser, who finished with 6 tackles (all for losses), 2 sacks, and two forced fumbles along with at least a half dozen hurries. The right tackle for Rice is scheduling his therapy sessions as we speak. Fun times were had by all. No highlights for this one, although there were some real good plays by the offense, because I don't feel like waiting for them to encode and upload.

Smashed Rutgers at home 33-0.

Louisville up next. Currently ranked #5, though even if I go undefeated I don't think I'll get in the National Title game as long as Bama and Texas are undefeated as well.

As far as committs go...

I have:

Michael Anderson, Pottsville Pa **** WR
Clint McCullogh, St Mary's OH **** CB(in ESPN U 150)
Brett Mansfield, Bradford PA *** CB
Dominique Elliot, Carlisle Pa **** TE(In ESPN U 150)

I have a bunch of other Soft Commits that I hope to wrap up soon including another 4* CB, 4*HB, and 4*QB among some others.. have to see how things fo the next couple weeks.

Man, it sucks having to work for your commits. I don't even have any soft commits. Everyone wants to visit first. Trust me folks, the UH campus is nothing special. I'll find you a stripper at one of the gentlemen's clubs along Richmond or Westheimer, but that's about it.

Sorry Broward, but I had to quit and restart my game against Texas A&M.

I encountered a weird, yet downright funny glitch in the 4th quarter. It burned up over 4 and a half minutes off the clock during the quarter.

I was on defense and I had forced a fumble, it should have been A&M's ball, but somehow, NONE of Texas Tech or Texas A&M's players would recover the damn thing. The ball kept spinning around oddly on the ground while everybody was around the ball. I kept trying to recover it, but my player would miss horribly. It was really weird, but it was also epic.

I had the same thing happen and just sort of went with it until the ball went the back of the endzone and they wound up placing the ball back where it originally fell.

Thanks for the heads up though!

No problem. I didn't really have the patience to let it roll to the back of the end zone.

I replayed it and defeated A&M 42-35

Player of the Game - Taylor Potts 32/40 476 yards, 6 TD while connecting with 7 different receivers. I also sacked A&M QB Jerrod Johnson 4 times.

See, for like..the first ten seconds or so, I figured it was really a live ball and couldn't figure out why no one could pick it up. After that, I just tried to manipulate the ball out of play while humming Benny Hill music.

I tried to manipulate the ball out of play too, but got impatient and just quit after it ran over 4 and a half minutes off the clock in the 4th.

It was really some epic stuff though.

I'm probably going to get this over Madden next week, so I'll jump in to the Dynasty when you guys end your current season. No idea what team I'll be.

Just let me know what team you'd like, and I'll send you the invite.

We've got 2 teams in the Big XII (South), one in C-USA and one in the Big East.

I'm convinced the Cougars are trying to give me a heart attack. Sandwiched an asskicking of Memphis with two OT games against freakin' SMU!) and Central Florida. Bounced back and most recently blew out Tulsa surprisingly easy. Commits are starting to come in once in a while, but I forgot who they were so summary will come later. Still think Case should at least be in discussion for the Heisman, but I think I'm throwing too many picks.

Down goes OU, 8-2 TTU!

Anyway, I beat Oklahoma 28-21, I was down 21-7 in the 4th. I somehow managed to pull off a 14 point comeback culminating in a 21 point 4th quarter to pull off the win. My DE Ryan Haliburton recovered a Landry Jones fumble (even ghosted through him as he was on the ground) and returned it for the game winning score with less than a minute to play.

Taylor Potts threw 40 times and completed 22 of those passes for 362 yards while throwing 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

My defense sacked Landry Jones 4 times and picked him off twice.

Pretty good days work, I think.

Now hopefully I can get some top 25 love.

EDIT - Also, my highlights are available on the dynasty page.

Beat USF 42-0 I think it was.

For once I didn't pull Lewis when the game was out of reach and I just kept running him, ended up with almost 350 yards and 5 TD's.. I want that Heisman dammit lol.

All right Bond let's get this over with. I'm available most any time Sunday. If you can't do it then we'll have to figure something out.

Man I'm going to get killed.

I'm going to jump in as Oregon State. No idea why I picked them, I just didn't want to pick a powerhouse.

Alright, we're in Bowl season...Bond will be playing Florida while Malk will play Boise State.

Alan, what I discussed with both CV and Bond is that I'd like for all of us to get online at the same time to go ahead and blast thru off-season ASAP so that we can start our second year. PK, I'd like you to get in on this as well as you'll have off-season things to finish up with Oregon State.

I'm also going to determine people's OOC schedule as well. There will be no FCS teams on the slate as I'll replace them with either a mid-major or a school of your choosing. This coming year, I'll be playing Bond (Conference game) CV and Pitt.

Yeah, you slimey son of a bitch..you stole all of my fuckin awards. Maxwell, Camp, Walker and Heisman. I'm comin for you... lol

As it stands, I believe CV won his bowl game and I won mine, making Texas the National Champions. If Malk wins, he'll finish at 2nd, more than likely with a Bond win possibly placing him within the Top 10 and that making everyone ranked with possibly three Top 10 schools.

Any comments or whatnot, post 'em.

Oh..I'd also like to thank you guys for making this season a blast to play and for also making it a rather quick year. You guys all rock!

So I accepted the invite and....nothing. I'm just staring at a blank menu and can't back out of it forcing me to quit to the Dashboard.

Odd. I'll try it again tomorrow and if it's still wonky, I'll decline and ask Broward to send it again. It says it's downloading the Dynasty file for like half a second before going away.

I beat Florida to win the Cotton Bowl 24-17.

Outscored them 17-7 in the second half to win.

Ryan Haliburton was Player of the Game with 3 sacks.
