Donnie has learned the hard way in this game that you can’t take anyone’s word at face value. He learned another lesson as he was put on the block again. Brittany knew that she had to campaign to keep her spot in the house but was sad that she had to go up against Donny.
Cody was torn up about putting Donny up. Donny felt reasonably well about his chances of being voted back in, but was still wary about the other voices getting into Cody’s head. He quizzed Cody about a possible alliance, but Cody didn’t give up any information.
Brittany kicked off her campaign by trying to get the influential Caleb on her side, despite him opting not to save after the veto competition. Caleb went to the guys to try and convince them that Donny was a threat to their alliance and that Brittany deserved to stay.
Normally, the Big Brother house doesn’t learn of any outside news until after the show. But unfortunately, a tragic exception occurred when Frankie was informed that his grandfather passed away. His grandfather had cancer and had apparently requested no one tell Frankie if he died while the show was still going on. It’s a little unclear whether the family or the producers made the final call to tell Frankie. In any event, the house rallied around Frankie and supported him.
A lighter moment happened when Julie informed Nicole, Caleb, Christine, Derrick that they were the laziest people during based on their activity trackers. Therefore, they would be the have-nots for the week. Winning HOH would remove them from have-not status though.
The Big Brother cameras went up to Michigan to talk to Nicole’s supporters and get their reaction to Hayden romancing her. Nicole’s parents said she was a smart girl but didn’t always show it. They also said she typically took awhile to warm to guys and played hard to get. Nicole’s brother said Hayden seemed cool but would rather see her sister win the $500,000 than finding love on the show. The people in town rallied around Nicole and even called themselves The Coconuts in support of her. Back at the house, Hayden did finally get a kiss from Nicole, so there’s progress for him.
Once again, another not-so-suspenseful live eviction took place as the house unanimously voted to evict Brittany. When she went on stage to speak to Julie, she said she was not surprised about the lopsided vote. Brittany felt many people were playing scared, especially the girls. She felt that she was targeted because others feared her coming back and making bold moves. She also touched on the grueling soccer challenge she had to do. Brittany did receive a welcome surprise as her three children greeted her on the stage.
The next HOH competition was called Country Hits. Each round had two houseguests compete head to head. A country song would play that had lyrics describing a past Head of Household, Battle of the Block, or Power of Veto competition. Whoever buzzed in and answered correctly first would stay in the game.
When it came down to the final four, Derrick let Frankie win their round so Frankie could become HOH and receive a letter and picture from his family (also meaning he could see his grandfather one last time). It was a noble gesture, but it also didn’t hurt Derrick as he was relieved of the HOH burden. Also, he gave up his spot to a fellow alliance member. Meanwhile, Zach defeated Christine to win the second HOH spot. The Detonators were back in control of the house.
