WWE NXT – July 3, 2013

WWE NXT – 07/03/2013

This week, we are instantly greeted by Renee Young, who introduces the NXT Champion, Bo Dallas.

Smiling Bo clutches his title but Renee asks his thoughts on Leo Kruger from last week.  Bo starts talking about his BO-lievers and they know he will defend this title anywhere as the Best There Is, the Best There Was and the Best There Ever Will Be, just like his good friend and mentor, Bret Hart.  He starts talking about how he talked with Bret before his match at Wrestlemania this year.  Renee corrects him saying he had a match at Axxess.

As he starts overplaying his accomplishments, Antonio Cesaro comes in and calls him a typical American.  He claims the belt was handed to him and Antonio earns everything the hard way, calling Dallas a young punk and the downfall of this great country.  Cesaro does plug his “We the People” stance that recently started.  Dallas really puts over his opponent by saying Cesaro may go down as the most insignificant US champion in history and he will never forget Bo Dallas.

The Women’s Championship Match graphic is up for the first Semi-Finals match and Alicia Fox makes her way to the ring.

Paige makes her way out to the ring next.

NXT Women’s Championship Tournament – Semi-Finals

Alicia Fox vs. Paige

The crowd goes wild for Paige as they point out Paige already beat Natalya and now will have to get past another former WWE Divas champion, Alicia Fox, to get to the Finals.  Paige actually beat Tamina Snuka, as she barely got any offense and Natalya was beat by Summer Rae.

The two divas lock up and grapple back and forth for a good start to the match until Paige gets worked up and starts throwing some elbows.  Alicia Fox does a nice bridging suplex for a two count.

Regal puts over Fox’s abilities and the damage her kicks do as she chokes Paige in the ropes.  Fox has been interesting in this tournament, she acts like a face on her way out to the ring, but then heels it up in the actually matches.

Fox controls the match but the crowd is solidly behind Paige.  Regal points out while Paige has been training since she was thirteen, Fox has the experience advantage you can only get by competing in matches on the main stage like WWE.

Paige reverses the momentum and starts throwing some aggressive knees toward Alicia’s face.  Alicia shuffles back to hit a very nice dropkick for another two count.

Fox trips up due to the damage from some of Paige’s earlier moves.  This allows Paige an opening to hit her big move, The Paige Turner, for the three count.

Winner: Paige

Paige celebrates in the ring and she will be in the Finals against the winner of Summer Rae/Emma.

Match graphic for tonight’s Championship main event – Bo Dallas defends against Antonio Cesaro.

RVD return promo.

Back to action, Andy Baker is in the ring.  We hear it could be a chance to turn heads in his debut match but the lights go out and Conor O’Brian’s music hits.

The mystery man is with him and they put on the graphic that he is Rick Victor. I know I’ve heard his name before too.

Andy Baker vs. Conor O’Brian (with Rick Victor)

Victor gets in the ring with Conor and massages his shoulders from the turnbuckle before the bell ring.  Conor mows down Baker and immediately starts mauling him, clutching him in rolling side headlocks.

As Conor gets up, Baker starts trying to throw some kicks but O’Brian shoves him off, hits a couple quick hits followed by a legdrop and it is over.

Winner: Conor O’Brian

O’Brian holds the pin until the lights go dim again and the two men of the Ascension stare into space from the ring.

Backstage Renee Young is asking Adrian Neville and Corey Graves about Kassius Ohno being injured by the Wyatt Family last week.  Graves and Neville swear revenge on the Wyatts and say there is one man to fill that void, William Regal.

Another main event match graphic.

Sylvester Lefort is on the ramp.  He riles the crowd up but then introduces Scott Dawson.  No Garrett Dylan this week.

Now we know why, Xavier Woods comes out.  Awesome.

Scott Dawson (with Sylvester Lefort) vs. Xavier Woods

Woods looks discussed by Woods as the crowd goes crazy for the former Consequences Creed.  Dawson ties up Woods and back him in the corner.  A couple hard blows, Dawson goes for an Irish Whip but Woods uses it to escape Dawson’s control and jump over him.

A couple quick hits by Woods and he manages an atomic drop, followed by some chops to down Dawson.

Dawson grabs Creed by the hair but cannot maintain control as Woods pulls off another escape trick on Dawson.

As Woods tries to work on the apron, Dawson smacks Xavier’s leg and he bangs his head against the apron.  He almost gets counted out but makes it in the ring to get pummeled by Dawson.  Big chop, quick legdrop but Woods kicks out.

Dawson tries to utilize quick hits and quick pins but as Woods keeps trying to rally, Dawson goes for a chinlock.  With the support of the crowd, Woods counters the chinlock and starts mounting his own offense.

IT’S MORPHIN TIME!

Woods hits the Honor Roll.  Follows it with Lost in the Woods.  Another Victory for Xavier Woods.

Winner: Xavier Woods

Woods starts dancing in the ring again following the victory and struts up the ramp.

Bray Wyatt is doing one of his outdoor promos with Rowan in his sheep mask and Harper staring too.  Wyatt says he warned the end was coming.

Back to ringside, Regal is asked if he will join the fight and he acknowledges that of course he will.

More importantly, MASON RYAN makes his way to the ring.

Regal calls him the Welsh Wizard.  Works for me.

Ugh.  Enzo Amore makes his way to the ring.  He introduces Colin Cassidy, who is apparently hanging out with him now.  He spazzes around and calls Ryan S-A-W-F-T, Sawft.

Regal wonderfully questions if he is a DDP love child.

Mason Ryan vs. Enzo Amore (with Colin Cassidy)

Mason Ryan immediately hits a knockout punch.

Winner: Mason Ryan

Amore starts complaining, saying he wasn’t ready.  He tells Cassidy to get in the ring, as Ryan isn’t going to get that lucky twice.

The seven-foot Colin Cassidy steps in the ring.

Mason Ryan vs. Colin Cassidy

Cassidy misses a clothesline and Ryan immediately takes control.  Ryan takes him down with a big clothesline and then hits his finisher again.

Winner: Mason Ryan

Two wins for Mason Ryan in one show. Not too shabby.

Tonight’s main event is hyped one more time.

A match graphic for next week’s Women’s Championship semi-final of Emma vs. Summer Rae, followed by the six man tag main event next week, The Wyatt Family vs. Corey Graves, Adrian Neville and William Regal.

Antonio Cesaro comes out to his own theme by all WE THE PEOPLE background, waving the bright yellow flag.

We hear what a polarizing figure NXT Champion Bo Dallas is, as both men are in the ring for our heel vs. heel main event.

NXT Championship Match

Antonio Cesaro vs. NXT Champion Bo Dallas

Antonio gets a fair amount of applause during his in ring intro by Byron Saxton.  Probably because Bo is his opponent.  Bo gets booed out of the building outside of one girl screaming.  I am looking around for a chubby chick in Hardyz gear.

We hear again how the two previous NXT Champions, Seth Rollins and Big E Langston, are now WWE mainstays who competed at Wrestlemania this year.

The crowd actually begins a WE THE PEOPLE chant and Cesaro takes some early control over the champion.  Cesaro ties Bo up in some interesting grapples and Regal points out that Cesaro is a better man than he ever was and there is always something to every little way that Cesaro handles every move.

The men in the crowd chant NO MORE BO as the females chant LET’S GO BO.  Is WWE going to try to make him the next John Cena?

Bo escapes Antonio by getting in a quick dropkick but tries to cover Cesaro, which leads to a kick out and Cesaro getting back to controlling the pace.  Bo goes to kick a grounded Cesaro, Antonio ducks the kick and seamlessly tosses Bo outside.

Dallas back in the ring and downed while Antonio hovers as we hit our first main event commercial.

Back from the break, as Antonio still controls the match, Leo Kruger is on the ramp watching and playing with his hair again.

Cesaro knocks down Bo with a huge clothesline but Bo kicks out.  Regal explains that Cesaro wears the short boots to use his shin bones as a weapon.  We hear how Bo Dallas doesn’t give up as Antonio simply dominates.

Dallas tries to break free and Kruger gets closer and closer to the ring.  After an Irish Whip, Dallas starts mounting some offense.  A few clothesline, a swift kick, smacks Cesaro into the corner and performs a running bulldog.

Bo gets a two count from the bulldog and getting back to their feet, Antonio locks in another chinlock.  Bo breaks free, reverses Cesaro into a reverse DDT but only another two.

Bo tries for some high impact offense and Cesaro crotches him on the ropes.  Cesaro starts climbing and nails Dallas with a gutwrench suplex off the top.  The champion kicks out!

Cesaro to the second rope and drops a knee to the skull… another kickout.

Cesaro getting flustered, he stalks Bo and gets another chinlock on.  He starts swinging Bo in the air with the chinlock still and Bo is down.  Bo rolls it over into a pin.  Cesaro kicks out and hits a crazy bridging fallaway slam.

Regal points out the only other person he’s seen do that was his old partner, Dave Taylor.  Cesaro angrily yells “It’s Over!” and climbs to the top.  Bo charges the ropes and hits that weird toss he does off the top.  Both men are down.

As both men are trying to beat the 10 count, Kruger starts getting on the apron.  Bo ducks, Antonio runs into Kruger and Dallas hits that weird toss again for the win.

Winner: Bo Dallas

Weird booking on this one.  Almost like Bo is a face but the crowd can’t stand him.  I know, Cena… but Bo does some clearly more heel things.

Kruger comes in and the crowd goes nuts as he beats Dallas.  Cesaro tosses Kruger and then pummels Dallas himself.  Dallas finally breaks free and fights back.  Kruger back in hitting Dallas.  Antonio looks at Leo and then both men turn to stomp on Bo.  The crowd goes nuts as they beat on Dallas but the former El Generico, Sami Zayn’s music hits and he comes out to take care of Cesaro.  Dallas and Zayn clear the ring.  Bo’s music hits as the champ and Sami Zayn stand in the ring.  Dallas comes over and thanks Zayn, which further confuses me what they are doing with the direction of Dallas.

Dallas holds his belt over his head and NXT ends for this week.
