WWE NXT – October 2nd, 2013

WWE NXT  – 10/2/13

Today’s show begins with a video package hyping Fandango’s appearance tonight.

The arena is chanting “NXT” when Fandango’s music hits and the first lady of NXT, Summer Rae, is out first to dance her way down with her main roster man, Fandango, for mixed tag team action.

Alex Riley hypes that no one knows who Emma’s tag team partner is and the announcers toss to Renee Young interviewing Emma.

Emma comes out and Renee asks Emma if she has a partner for tonight.  Emma says she does and it is only the best possible partner that Emma could have.

Then Santino’s music hits.

Santino comes out and there is an awkward exchange as Emma wants high fives and Emma wants hugs.  He power walks as Emma does her dance to the ramp.  He backs up and he goes to do her dance as she power walks.  They back up one more time and power walk while doing Emma’s dance.

Renee hops on commentary as well as the NXT crowd chants “THIS IS AWESOME”.

Fandango & Summer Rae vs. Santino Marella & Emma

Santino and Fandango play up the crowd.  The crowd is going nuts for Santino, who is being extra cartoony.

Fandango settles this by doing some butt shaking, which Renee Young seems to enjoy.

Santino and Fandango circle up as the crowd starts a “YOU GOT SERVED” chant.

Santino goes for a kick, Fandango catches his leg but goes for a kick, where Santino catches his leg.

As Fandango takes an early advantage, Riley makes the point that while Santino is “unorthodox”, he is a decorated champion.  Fandango scrambles from the ring and Emma helps Santino set up his cobra, only to make them do the Emma Dance, leading up to the first commercial.

Back from commercial, Santino has a leglock variant on Fandango, who shakes him away.  The two man eye each other down and the crowd is still extra hot.  Fandango takes Santino down with a kick before Marella does a couple quick hiptosses.  He high fives Emma, which the ref recognizes as a tag.

Summer Rae, the heel, comes in, while the faces who were trying to get revenge, argue it was a celebration.  They finally switch and high five again.  This spot goes on far too long and winds up with the guys back in the ring, only for the frustrated Fandango to knock Marella down with a lone punch.

As Fandango dominates, Riley questions Renee claiming to be repulsed by Fandango and they start making jokes about Renee hiding his name on the phone. Renee and Riley even make jokes about slash fiction websites involving WWE stars, until they get reigned in.

As Fandango brutalizes Santino in the corner, Summer slaps him, which prompts Emma to run over to go after Summer.  At this time, Santino rolls away and dives for the hot tag to an empty corner.

Fandango drags Santino back to mid-ring before Emma can get back.  Santino fails twice at doing a kip-up, which Fandango responds to by stomping him on the head.

Fandango, taking his time to figure out his next move, finds himself rolled up.  Fandango gets up, Santino successfully does his kip-up into a hot tag.

Emma comes in unleashing on Summer before wrapping her up in her version of the Tarantula, the DIL-EMMA.  Emma backs off, crossbody for a near fall.

Santino hands Emma a Cobra, which Renee sells as a huge honor.  As Emma places it on, Summer comes over and rolls her up.

Emma throws Summer into Fandango, which counts as a tag when Fandango goes sailing over the ropes, crashing onto Emma as well.  As Santino, now the legal man, checks on his partner, they both hit the same move on their opponents, they transfer the Cobra, which Santino hits on Fandango for the victory.

Winners: Santino Marella & Emma

As Riley and Young put over the Cobra, Tony Dawson asks that someone call PETA.  This must be why he has been removed from the company.

Match graphic for tonight’s Tag Team Championship match when Neville & Graves defend against the Ascension.  Kassius Ohno versus Luke Harper is advertised to be next.

The Ascension do a really boring pre-taped promo about winning the tag titles tonight.

Kassisus Ohno’s music hits next and he comes out ready for a fight.

Tony Dawson mentions it has been several months since we’ve seen Ohno, when they show clips from the Wyatt attack which was now four months ago.

The crowd goes nuts when the Wyatt’s music hits but Luke Harper comes out all by himself, looking lost.

Kassius Ohno vs. Luke Harper

Harper starts out dominating the match but a whip to the rope allows Ohno to show his surprising agility, first catching himself and then throwing a big kick.

Dawson puts over the Wyatt Family taking out Kane and Riley is asked about the Wyatt Family in the locker room, to which Riley talks about the air of mystery they have, even within the WWE locker room.

Ohno continues to get dominated in his return match, against one of the guys who injured him.  Ohno takes advantage of getting tossed to the corner and manages to knock Harper to the outside.

He lays in wait and attacks from the ring to Harper on the outside, which still doesn’t get him quite off his feet.

Back in the ring, Harper lays out a nasty boot.  He beats on Ohno slightly more before doing his clothesline and it is over.

Winner: Luke Harper

Ohno not able to show much or get any revenge in his return match.  The crowd sways to the Wyatt music as the lone Luke Harper wanders out of the ring.

Backstage, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy talk about being as close as Siamese twins to being Number One contender.  They talk about how they will be just find.  They shift their attention to Dawson and Rusev, ripping on Rusev’s lack of shoes.

Graphic for the first ever BO DALLAS INVITATIONAL, which from last week, is open to anyone but Sami Zayn.

We get a debut vignette for Mojo Rawley, letting us know he doesn’t get hyped, he stays hyped.

The Ascension’s music hits and it looks like the NXT Tag Team Championship match will take place earlier on the show than I expected.

Neville comes out to the newer, more generic sounding theme.  He waits on the ramp as his partner Corey Graves makes his way out.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match

The Ascension vs. Adrian Neville & Corey Graves (NXT Tag Team Champions)

The announcers discuss the rib issues that Graves continues to have since the attack by The Ascension weeks back.

Neville starts the match against Rick Victor as the announcers talk about how hard Neville took the loss of his tag titles when he lost with a substitute partner versus the Wyatts.

Neville keeps Victor in the corner and kicks him down to size.  As Neville runs the ropes, Victor knocks him down and brings in O’Brian, who does his shoulderblock spot for a failed pin attempt.

O’Brian stomps on Adrian and then picks him up to slow down the pace some more.  After a few punches, he lifts Neville up for a suplex.  Adrian slips out and tags Corey Graves, who comes in and lays some kicks into Conor before the being hit by a flapjack from The Ascension’s big man.

Victor comes in and continues to keep Graves down.  He kicks him and locks him up, only to tag Conor back in.

The announcers put over how the Ascension want to spend time on the main roster like Seth Rollins, Big E Langston and even Bo Dallas and they realize the tag titles are the quickest way to get noticed.  The Ascension maintain control while the show heads to another break.

Victor hammers down on Graves.  Victor throws Corey to the ropes, who responds with a crossbody but he cannot make the tag.  Victor brings Corey back to the corner and tags in Conor, who wraps Graves up with some leg scissors to work over the injured ribs.

O’Brian adds a choke to the scissor hold around the waist as Graves struggles to fight his way out.   O’Brian starts using his leg strength to lift Corey in the air and smash him to the ground.

Victor tagged back in and The Ascension appear to be getting closer to becoming the fourth ever NXT Tag Team Champions.  Victor beats down Graves in the corner and slams Corey in the center of the ring but Graves wills him way to another kick out.

The crowd starts chanting for Neville while Victor tries to lull the tag champion to sleep.  A long chinlock continues and the crowd actually starts to chant “YOU CAN’T WRESTLE”.

Graves gets to his feet but cannot fight his way out.  Victor gets him back in the corner where he slams into him and throws Corey hard into the turnbuckle.  He goes for a charge, where Corey sides away and crawls to Neville.  Victor gets his leg but he still makes the tag.

Adrian in with a flurry of kicks.  He takes Victor down and dominates The Ascension member, before knocking Conor O’Brian off the apron too.  He chucks Rick Victor over where O’Brian lays on the floor and dives onto both his opponents on the outside.

Victor back in the ring, Neville off the top for a two count.

Neville jumps over Victor, does several flips, downs a charging Victor and gets up top for the Red Arrow.  O’Brian pulls his partner away and Neville misses.

Victor makes the cover but Graves breaks the tag at the last minute.  Graves gets tagged in and is motioning for a big move on Victor but Victor freshens up enough to knock him down.  The Ascension hit a duo move onto Graves and there are new Tag Team Champions.

Winners & New NXT Tag Team Champions: The Ascension

Graves and Neville were another makeshift for a makeshift team but an era of Ascension…

The RVD promo that was used to hype his return at Money in the Bank airs but the end graphic reveals he will be on next week’s show.

Bo Dallas is dancing around on the ramp as Byron Saxton announces the NXT Champion for the Bo Dallas Invitational.

Bo mentions if someone can pin him, that individual will get a title shot.  Some scrawny guy comes out, we don’t get a name or anything.  The crowd, hating Bo, starts a “LET’S GO THIS GUY” chant.

BO DALLAS INVITATIONAL

The unknown guy does a quick roll up and the crowd loses it.

He knocks Dallas back and the crowd is rabidly chanting “THIS GUY”.

Bo quickly disposes of him after.

Winner: Bo Dallas

Bo pats the guy on the back and grabs a mic.  He tells the crowd he feels great and barely broke a sweat.  He asks for someone else to respond.

Leo Kruger’s music hits.

As Kruger makes his way to the ring, the music of The Real Americans hits and Cesaro comes to the ring.  He starts to slide in, Kruger pulls him out.  Kruger starts to slide in, Cesaro pulls him out.  Both slide in at once while the crowd chants “TRIPLE THREAT”.  Cesaro starts to back off, gets a “WE THE PEOPLE” chant.  Cesaro and Kruger start fighting and Cesaro knocks Kruger out of the ring.

Dallas knocks Cesaro to the outside and celebrates.

Some Latin music hits and this mystery luchadore seems to move quite similarly to the former wrestler El Generico.

This luchadore nails a big boot in the corner and pins the NXT Champion.

The crowd seems to remember El Generico, as they chant OLE.

The luchadore re-enters the ring to SI chants.  He pulls his mask off.  Sure thing, it is Sami Zayn.

Winner: Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn just pinned the NXT Champion, who clutches his belt while looking terrified.
