WWE Superstars – 6/20/2013
Welcome to this week’s edition of Superstars. This is the last week Matt Striker will be making the call, so let’s all have a moment of marking out, bro.
R-Truth comes out dancing and smiling first as Tony Dawson tells us what a week it has been. R-Truth high fives white people who seem to not know what a high five is. Excellent.
Whistles are blowing, it is the Prime Time Players. As Titus and Darren dance up top, we find out it will be Darren Young, Mr. No Days Off in singles action against Ronald Killings.
R-Truth vs. Darren Young
As the bell rings, Truth shouts to the crowd to what’s up and Darren just continues fixing his hair. The two men circle up as Darren backs Truth in the corner and yells “PTP in the house”, only to get smacked by Truth.
Darren tries to regain composure, so Truth asks the crowd “What’s up?” again. Darren Young whips Truth who stops, dances, takes down Young and works toward setting a record asking “What’s Up?” again before dropping a leg on DY.
Truth begins working the arm and keeps Darren tied up for a long time. All of this stalling is just met by Striker trying to tell us Darren may have a separated shoulder, which seems a bit much for the low impact offense. Darren almost breaks free but we have like two minutes of Truth just tying up Young’s arm before a commercial break finally happens.
Back from break, Truth smacks Young to the ground. Young moves to the apron and quickly does a nice move, where on the apron, he jumps off while holding Truth, almost giving him a back suplex onto the side of the apron.
Young is back in the ring fighting Truth while Striker starts talking about Curtis Axel and challenging people to debate him on Axel over Twitter. I wonder if that offer is still valid?
Truth runs the ropes and Young makes another pretty move catching him straight into a Northern Lights Suplex. After a kickout, Young gives Truth a hard whip into the corner. Titus starts blowing the whistle and yelling “WHAT’S UP, R-TRUTH? WHAT’S UP?” I love me some PTP.
Young tells Truth tells him it is their house and stomps the mid-section. As Young maintains control, he signals to Titus, inadvertently giving Truth some rest time to get back on offense. After taking a couple blows, Darren Young runs the ropes, only to get a kick across the face from Truth.
Truth gets on a role with his punches and takes down Young. O’Neil tries to get involved, Truth disposes of him, Lie Detector to Young. Match over.
Winner: R-Truth
Truth dances on the stage as the Players look on in disappointment.
Back from the break, we get brought to the Henry/Cena all-time great segment from Monday’s RAW.
Another break brings us back to the RVD promo and Bryan/Orton from Monday.
A Total Divas promo runs. I cannot believe we still have to wait over a month still! NOOOOOOO!
The Funkadactyls make their way out dancing and it is announced we have a Divas tag match on the way.
I’M INSATIABLE – it’s Layla. As she comes out on the apron, I realized how much I’ve missed Layla.
Natalya gets her own entrance next and it looks like we have a face versus face Divas tag match next.
The Funkadactyls vs. Layla & Natalya
Matt Striker asks Dawson to be the Milhouse to his Bart in this match. I don’t know how we will go on without the knockout commentary like this.
Layla takes early control over Naomi as we hear about these two being former NBA cheerleaders. Layla knocks down Naomi and does a little shimmying. Layla pins Naomi but gets rolled over for both women to unsuccessful pins.
Layla shakes her butt in Naomi’s face, so she takes out Layla with a crushing blow. Interesting how Naomi gets booked to have a real mean streak.
Cameron in and she does a somersault onto Layla. Layla ties up Cameron and pulls her back to the corner, tagging in Natalya.
Natalya’s armbar is reversed by a screaming Cameron. Cameron’s yelling just makes me remember Tough Enough and think she will definitely be more successful whenever she becomes a heel.
Natalya gets control and audibly questions if Cameron thinks she could in the ring with her. The two exchange offense while Naomi smiles on the outside. Cameron slaps Natalya and does an overblown dance routine, so Natalya slaps her back and they get so entangled, that not only the ref tries to break them up, but their partners too.
And Striker calls Dawson Milhouse again.
After the action settles down, the ref tries to make Cameron and Nattie shake hands. The two have an intense staredown and finally shake hands. The crowd boos this. As Natalya turns to tag Layla, Cameron clobbers her into Layla.
Layla comes in and quickly takes out Cameron for the win.
Winners: Layla & Natalya
Layla blows kisses and they celebrate as a deflated Cameron and Naomi head to the back.
A replay is shown of Punk’s Chicago return through the Del Rio match and Brock events on Monday to close out the show.
