BB16: HOH and Nominations #13

After Christine departed the BB house, the remaining houseguests heard the chorus of boos that rained down on her. They were very surprised but felt like their decision to evict Christine was validated by the negative audience response. Cody was really taken aback. He liked Christine and believed her to be a good person. Now, he was left to wonder what she did or said to make the audience dislike her.

Later on, the houseguests were still in shock over the crowd’s burial of Christine. Frankie theorized that Cody and Christine’s relationship came off really bad on TV.  He tried reassuring Cody that the audience didn’t blame him though. Cody was still worried that the BB fans would hate him though.

Meanwhile the secret button loomed in the old have-not room. Next to it was a sign that read “The Choice Is Yours…It Only Takes One”. The houseguests debated over pushing it. Frankie and Cody were eager to push, but everyone else was more reluctant to. They decided to leave it alone for the time being.

When the remaining four guys had a moment alone, they celebrated making the final four. The implication was that they would make short work of the last girl, Victoria. It seemed academic, but Frankie thought in the back of mind that he could still be a target this week. Since he was such a competition beast, he wondered if this was the time for the other guys to take him out. Sure enough, Cody spoke about finally making a big move against Frankie. Caleb was a bit hesitant, but was willing to go along with it.

The next HOH was Seed Star. Players had to walk across a spade that functioned like a see-saw. The goal was to transfer every seed (ball) from the wooden tub to the end of the spade. The catch was that if a player fell off the spade or one of the balls fell off, he or she would have to start all over again with the first seed. The seeds were different sizes, which made them difficult to balance. Also, water rained down on everyone partway into the contest.

Victoria knew she needed to win considering that she was the last girl and was nominated twice within the past week. Unfortunately, she continued her struggles in competitions and kept falling off her beam. Cody was doing well at first, but had to start over when one of his seeds fell off.

Caleb and Frankie were neck-and-neck with just a few seeds left. Cody wasn’t giving up though, knowing that he was only a couple missteps from getting back into the game. He was gifted one of those missteps when one of Caleb’s seeds rolled off the tip of the spade. Now, Cody just needed one Frankie mistake to get the advantage. But with Caleb starting over, Frankie was able to take his time and relax. He finished transporting his seeds and rang the bell to clinch the HOH.

The houseguests were still amped up from the competition, so they decided to revisit the big gold button. There was a split as to whether they should push it or not. As Big Brother fans, of course they wanted to do it. But some of them were afraid of it ruining their game, which would especially hurt at this late stage of the game. In the end, they just couldn’t resist and they pushed the button. After that, a countdown clock appeared, which made everyone even more nervous.

Victoria going on the block was the easy part, but now Frankie was forced to put one of his Detonators/Bomb Squad brethren up next to her. Frankie, Derrick, and Caleb met up in private…it was looking clear that Cody was the odd man out. Derrick wasn’t thrilled with the block possibly being comprised of players he made a final two deal with. But, he had to look out for himself first, so he had to live with it.

(And now, for a brief diversion…)

The houseguests were just sitting around when all of a sudden, the doorbell rang. In walked Big Brother alumni Jeff and Jordan. For the uniformed, they met on season 11 and became “America’s Couple”. Jordan was the big winner that season. She returned to Big Brother in season 13 with Jeff by her side. The current houseguests were marking out upon their arrival. Jeff and Jordan said they were there to host a special competition.

As it turned out, it was all a setup. Jeff led Jordan into the backyard and proposed to her. Of course, she said yes (although it would’ve made for great TV if she said no). In getting engaged at the Big Brother house, their relationship came full circle. Jordan and Jeff’s families came out to celebrate (as well as Jordan’s dog!). The houseguests brought out cake and champagne for the festivities. They even had Brett Eldredge, an up-and-coming country singer, there to perform. Caleb went nuts, since apparently he was a big fan.

It was back to business inside the house, where Frankie had to choose his nominees. He went with Victoria and Cody. Cody was bummed out, but the situation left no doubt that he would go back at Frankie if he stayed in the house. Victoria was tired of being a nominee (seven times now), but was banking on the fact that she survived all the other times being on the block.

Now, about that button…last week, Julie informed us that pushing it would set off the BB Rewind and reset the game. In this case, it means that Frankie’s HOH victory and nominations will be invalidated. It’s like they never happened. The biggest beneficiaries are Cody and Victoria, who will get taken off the block. With Frankie showing his cards, Cody can use that knowledge against him. Depending on what happens with the veto, other players’ strategies could be exposed as well.
