Week ending 5/20/13
Before we start, this week’s GADD will be cut short, but I’ll write about that at the end of the article.
Tuesday
Doritos Crash Course 2
Jumped into this again, but mainly just to grind out some easy achievements. Didn’t really make a whole lot of actual regular game progress, still have 2 worlds down and 2 worlds to go.
Game Dev Tycoon
If you’ve played Game Dev Story on your phone, you’ve basically played this. It’s a management style game where you start in the 80s making video games in your garage and attempt to make a global powerhouse of a company. I played the demo(which doesn’t let you upgrade and get out of the garage) and I felt like that was all I needed to see. It wasn’t BAD per se, but I just felt like I had seen everything in the game. Sure it’ll add new variables as far as what you can do with your games, but the core game mechanics aren’t going to change any more beyond where they already are. Maybe you should check it out and see if it’s for you, I think the full version is like $8.

Thursday
Crash Course 2
It looks like all my complaining last week turned out to be pretty baseless if I’m still playing it. Grinding out more achievements, and also onto the last world, so I guess I’m close to “beating” it.
Friday
Crash Course 2
Still playing it. Unlocked all the levels and all the split paths, now I just gotta play them at some point. Don’t really know what else to say about this game. Feel like I’ve already talked it to death. For the most part I can say I recommend it, but I don’t know if I would if it were a game you actually had to pay for.
Binary Domain
Just for shits and giggles I went into online mode and shockingly I found someone playing it! Exactly ONE person, who was so ecstatic to see someone else playing that he immediately sent me a friend request and kept sending more and more invites after we failed in our quest to take down their version of Horde mode, to the point where I had to go invisible to avoid them(if you’re reading this, sorry bro.) I then went into single player and played through chapter 3 and got the FRENCH F’N ROBOT! Already my new favorite character in the game, hopefully he doesn’t wear thin. However I’m growing really tired of my squadmates walking right into my line of fire and getting pissed when they get shot. I’M ALREADY SHOOTING THERE! MAYBE DON’T WALK THERE IDIOT!
Sonic Generations
I teased Sonic 06 last week, but decided to go the opposite direction and play the first actual good Sonic game in over a dozen years. Sonic Generations is a split between 2D classic and 3D modern Sonic levels, and there are still a bunch of moments in the 3D stuff that just make you go UGH. SONIC. but it keeps a good sense of speed most of the time so you’ll quickly forget those moments. This game is by no means great, but it’s at least decent, and decent is WAY above anything else Sonic Team has done lately, so I’ll probably keep playing it.
Saturday
Sonic Generations
I’m getting less enjoyment out of this today than I was yesterday, but I’ve started to realize that’s due to how I’m playing it. Instead of advancing and playing new stages, I’m meticulously going through every challenge in both Act 1 and Act 2(2D and 3D, respectively) on a stage before I advance to the next stage and doing it all over again. I really should give myself a little bit of variety by going on to the next stage and coming back for challenges later, but I know that if I don’t do them now I probably never will. So I’ll probably just wind up going through it the same way I am know and intentionally having less fun until the point that I just stop playing it and never look back. I’m pretty good at gaming yo.

See Above
So, this will be the last GADD for a while, because, as it says below in my “about the author” I work nuclear and sometimes get called out to work insane hours. Normally this time of year is free of outages, but sometimes there are emergency forced outages and that’s what I got called in for, and why this week isn’t even complete. GADD will probably return in around a month’s time, but I’m not exactly sure. If I get time I may write random articles while I’m gone, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Also this is continuing to make me think that I’ll never wind up beating Tales of Vesperia, even though I really want to. With that, I leave you with this week’s
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Uh….I dunno. You guys like cheese or something? I think it’s pretty rad.
