It’s kinda shitty that AEW wasn’t more transparent up front about when and where Grand Slam Australia would be airing. Part of me wonders if it was a case of the company itself not knowing. When they finally announced it for that Saturday night on TNT/Max a few weeks ago, they said it would be at 8:00 in the usual Collision time slot. People rightfully pointed out the conflict with the NBA All-Star Saturday.
A full-price, live PPV never really made sense, given the time difference. Making it a live special on Max would have been cool. Having said all that, although airing the show on a 20-hour delay kinda sucks, having the NBA All-Star stuff as a lead-in is a great opportunity, so I understand why they are doing what they’re doing.

A recent Corny clip mentioned that Jim Herd wanted the Starrcade 89 Tournament style event to happen each year. So let's pretend Herd stays in power and the event proves successful and see what would have been booked each year.
