Guys you're only three weeks away from the greatest looking Sports game to have ever been developed! This game has resparked my interest in Baseball, an interest that has been dormant for about 15 years, I can't wait for it, and I'm a dumb Brit!

MLB 10: The Show

Yeah, last year my dad walked in on me playing this as I had just hit a home run and he was like "why are you watching baseball? Did you take a break from the game you were playing." Me: "Uh, dad, this IS a game."

And then I spent the next hour talking with my dad about video games. So this game rocks, because getting him interested in my hobby is fucking hard thing to do.

It looks good. Does it play well? Remains to be seen. Games seem to be obsessing over the graphics rather than quality gameplay. MLB 2K9 was like that last year.

Well if it stays the same as the last couple years and improves the Graphics it should be amazing all around. The only complaint I ever have with these games is the retarded AI when it comes too trades and free agency, but tht seems to plague all sports games over multiple seasons in Franchise modes.

I loved the demo of MLB 09. I haven't bought a baseball game since MLB 2K7 since all of them on the 360 (except The Bigs) have sucked since then. I plan to buy this game at release.

I haven't upgraded to a PS3. The PS2 version finds little ways to aggravate me all the time. It's the only game in town though, unless 2K sports ever gets their act together.

I'm in the same boat. I don't really have much desire to get a PS3 for anything other than the baseball games. From what I've heard 2K sports is getting killed on that contract they signed with MLB and almost definitely won't be renewing after 2012, so EA will be back. They're kind of stuck up until then, though. I think technically Microsoft could put out their own game for the 360 if they really wanted to, but they don't seem interested.

I bit the bullet and picked up 2k10 today. Haven't played it yet but I just redeemed my fathead jr. code. Not a bad freebie to begin with as it normally costs $39.99 plus 4.99 for shipping, but shipping up here is 21.99 it says but it was still free with the code. So if I wanted to buy a fat head jr. and have it shipped to me it'd cost more than mlb2k. Huzzah. No Braves to choose from of course, but I didn't think the selection was too bad.

Edit: Upon looking over the full selection at fathead.com of purchasable fatheads the only Braves available are Chipper Jones and...Jeff Francouer. Ouch.

When I was on Live last night, I saw that Broward was playing MLB2K10. I hated the 2K9 version and I almost want to buy this so I can throw a perfect game and win the money. I bet someone has already done that. Anyway, I'm jealous of everyone here who has a PS3 because you get to play the superior baseball game.

Master Thrasher, contest doesn't start until the season starts. You'll play MLB Today mode (I think that's what it is called) and you'll get to choose the team you want to pitch with, but not allowed to choose the pitcher, as you'll be pitching with the pitcher who starts on that very day.

So if Ricky Romero is pitching for the Jays on opening day (and he is), you'll need to use Ricky Romero. You've got till opening day to practice and then it goes from there.

I'll be sticking with MLB The Show.

Yeah, checked out MLB2k10 from work again to re-start My Player mode since my last one had a bug and wouldn't advance into post season play.

The Astros are like, currently third or fourth in the NL Central yet I've been named Rookie of the Month and Rookie of the Week a few times.

Gameplay wise its a huge step forward from last year and isn't a homerfest like it used to be.

I'm interested to see what reviews those on here that have the Show think about it. I'm thinking of using my tax refund this year to buy a PS3 and get the Show.

I bought the ps2 version again. I'm sorry, but no baseball game is worth buying an entirely new video game system.

:( But Al! There's like Batman, Uncharted, Crystalis Novus (a.k.a. FFXIII), MLB The Show, God of War 3, and tons of sequels to your favorite games!

...in all seriousness, let's get back to the topic. As long as Show fixes up the career mode, I'll be happy. Last year sucked as a hitter, because running bases was inept as you couldn't tell where exactly the ball was being fielded.

But Al wouldn't want to have to worry about a sequel to the leapday disaster.

I've thought of that as well. Although I have '08 for the PS2 so I'm not sure what upgrades this has over that version of the game and if its worth shelling out money for new rosters, etc.

I think they took a step up in 2009 with roster management. This year is new rosters and they took out the classic stadiums. You do get Target Field though.

I'll probably pick up The Show over the weekend. It'll be the first baseball game I've bought since MVP 2005. I'm going to trade Roy Halladay back to the Blue Jays.

Enjoying The Show - A LOT! Got no previous Baseball games to compare it to, other than All-Star Baseball '99 on the N64, but I'm enjoying it. Batting is a right bitch though.

Its funny, I was about to buy The Show yesterday, but I was advised to hold off by my EB Games and to take a look at the reviews for both it and 2k, because The Show isn't selling at all there. So I'm going to decide a little later.

Working the count is absolutely crucial. If you swing at every pitch, you're not going to hit anything well at all.

I cant stress enough how important working the count is in TheShow. I almost ALWAYS take the first two pitches of every at bat unless I guess the correct pitch/location and it's a meatball. Makes a world of difference. After a few innings the CPU will start throwing strikes on the first pitch more often, and that's when you take advantage and take a big hack at the first pitch occasionally. Just don't fall into any patterns when hitting or pitching because the CPU will adapt and own you.

I played on franchise game in 2k10 then decided to wait until the season starts and heyward is added (assuming he starts the season in the majors anyway) but it was a lot better than 2k9. As always I suck a hitting. Started career mode last night and that has promise as well.

Yeah, this is where baseball games have gotten much better over the years. Although walks don't happen as often, you have to learn to take pitches if for no other reason than making the other pitcher tired because the computer will make you throw a ton. If you exhaust the pitcher their command will start to fade and you'll get some good stuff to hit. If you get get the count in your favor with 2-0 or 3-1 you can use the power button with the right guys and crush the ball out of the park. Unless you have a really awesome hitter in the box, I usually wait till I get a pitch that's a strike for guys that are 7 or below in my lineup. If you play in the NL, definitely don't swing at anything with your pitcher until you get at least one strike (usually I'll wait for 2 unless I get something that's in a good part of the zone). Also, if you have runners on base, I'd usually hold off until you get a strike to start swinging away because the computer will throw you tons of garbage balls hoping that you swing, get behind in the count, or make contact and ground into a double play or stupid pop ups. It takes a while to learn some plate discipline, but it pays off and I think part of it is also knowing your hitter's tendencies and memorizing the zones for your hitters.

That's exactly what sent me over the edge when I used to own the PSP version of MLB '08: The Show. Always had a bad habit of swinging at everything.

Great tips, thanks guys.

What I'm liking are the way different HP Umps call the strike zone, some shrink it, some expand it, some call high strikes, some call inside strikes. Awesome.

I still don't get how come I'm so good at hitting with Adam Lind. I mean, yes the man has a total red zone when hitting against right handers, but in 5 games, the guy had 5 homers and 13 RBIs. He's a freaking beast.

Ok, honestly. The Blue Jays have the WORST DEFENSE in the Majors. My pitchers are giving up hits that on any other team with decent fielders would be like two.

If it wasn't the fact that I was hitting well (video game Adam Lind can have my babies), I'd be pretty badly off. I've only had one game in which I've allowed less than 3 runs a game and that was Jesse Litsch's 1 run, 2 hits allowed complete game. I'm getting really tired of shoot outs.

I'm at a loss on what to do. Should I try converting Adam Lind to 1st, keep Snider as DH as much as possible, and then go out trying to secure another OF or two?
