I'd assume its been done, but I haven't seen it yet, has there been a winner of the $1 million Perfect Game contest yet?

Several claims on it, but it won't be made official until June.

i.e. they don't want somebody to win it now & then have no reason for anybody else to play their game.

I picked up 2K10 for the 360 over the weekend. It's my first baseball game purchase since MVP 2005 on the friggin' Gamecube.

I think it's a sweet game so far in the limited amount of time I've spent playing. I've picked up hitting decently so far (on rookie difficulty) but...

...I CANNOT PITCH WORTH A SHIT.

Doesn't matter who the pitcher is or what the count/situation is; unless I'm throwing a straight fastball, I cannot get anything other than "weak" or "wild pitch" with those damned pitching gestures. The manual is oh so helpful, too. Any tips?

The Show seems pretty good so far. I'm still getting the hang of pitching, though.

One small gripe, though, and it is a small one, is that the banners at the Rogers Centre have the wrong logo on them (the 1997-2002 one). MVP 2005 had the same thing, too.

Ok, so I managed to make a few changes to my team defensively and it seems to be paying off. After I think it is 18 games, I haven't lost yet. Before someone says "dude, crank up the difficulty", I've won half of those by 3 or less, two of those nine were blown saves (one game that went into extras), and the third was a rally from 3 down to win it in extras.

Its been a kinda cool run and I've been getting a lot of lucky breaks, so I know that eventually the first loss is going to happen (which will probably lead to a 5+ losing streak), but I'll keep on chugging along and hopefully ride this fortune out as long as I can. Its also the longest run I've had with a not-so-great team.

The only thing that worries me is the Yankees are 15-1. If I go cold, I don't think I'll get a chance to get to the top of the AL East again.

One thing that helped me (though I've only played the demo, so maybe it's not the same) is just doing the gestures more slowly. I think you have the entire wind-up to complete the motion so use every bit of that time to execute it accurately.

I second that opinion on pitching. I also find that you shouldn't flick the stick at all...just get your thumb in there and ride it out.

On a related note, I made my debut today for the Rangers after going through four straight complete game wins for the Frisco Roughriders. I made my first start against the freaking Yankees. I held my own the first time through the order, and then they just wore me out with a bunch of weak singles, followed by a double. I then threw at Derek Jeter, causing the manager to pull me from the game as Ace Aparicio pretty much had a bitch fit on the mound.

...talk about being thrown into the fire...

For some reason I left this window open for a while and when I came back was completely confused and thought that A Happy Medium was actually in fact a real major leaguer posting on our messageboard. I had to look up if the Rangers played the Yankees today or not and who the pitcher was, then I looked back at what this thread was about and laughed.

To be honest, it's an immersing experience. It feels like it's just you out there, in the late afternoon shadows, trying to lead the team to a win, or to just keep them in the game.

Road To The Show is frustrating. I'm the closer for the Springfield Cardinals and I couldn't clear the advancement goals because one of them was 'have a fielding percentage of over .990', it took like 6 weeks for someone to hit a ground ball to me. Also, the team sucks and, being the closer, I didn't pitch for the first 3 weeks of my second season.

Got the Show 10 the other day. It's pretty awesome...not a huge upgrade over '09, but RTTS. I still really suck at hitting though. I think I'm slowly getting better, but it's frustrating. I just am not that good at reading pitches before they get to the plate.

Played The Show 10 at Best Buy. The pitching still infuriates me. Everything else is so well executed but the utter lack of control in pitching just kills me. I shouldn't miss my target by a foot if I just miss the yellow strip on the pitching meter. It's madness. If I had a PS3 I would get it though.

As it is I'm stuck with 2k10. I don't mind it as much as other people do.

Actually even if you hit the yellow strip, you still will miss. You pretty much are forced to increase the control in the sliders for pitching for human users.

I think the pitching in The Show is my favorite part of the game. My biggest pet peeve of other baseball games in the past was how easy it was to dominate pitching by just painting the corners and such. This games makes it almost impossible to be pinpoint accurate ALL the time. I personally like that variable. Also you always need to keep in mind that the ball is not going to end where the cursor is, especially on breaking pitches.

When your fastball with a 99 on control doesn't go exactly where you place it when you've hit the little yellow line on your first pitch of the game, that's not right dude.

I don't want pitch perfect control, but you should at least be hitting the area if you've got good enough control of your pitches.

How's the BB/9 rating? (I say this with a new RTTS pitcher who finds ways to hang slurves in the center of the zone and have a 50 control fastball aim middle in strike and end up nearly hitting the batter in the face)

BB/9 is useful in getting the calls on the corners. So if you like painting the corners, the higher that number, the more you get the borderline calls. At least in RTTS when playing. When simulating, it will lower your chances of throwing walks during the course of 9 innings.

So, I'm trying to decide on which type of pitches I want to throw for my RTTS pitcher. I know you kinda need a 4 (unless you go with 2), but what else should I add? I'm using pitching style 48, if you need to know what type of release. I'm thinking maybe I should go with some of the faster pitchers, like cutter and 2-seamer, but throwing in a slow slider wouldn't be a bad idea right?

I've got a 94mph 4SB, a mid-70s slurve & a mid-80s splitter on my pitcher. Usually I throw in a circle change as #4, and #5 will be whatever I feel like. Maybe a knuckleball? I dunno.

So, at the end of the RTTS season, if i decide not to take my team's contract offer at the end of the season (assuming they offer one), is it likely someone else is going to offer me a contract? I was made the closer in Memphis, was 7 for 7 in save opportunities, had an ERA in the mid 2.00s, was on track to meet all my advancement goals, and just after I came in to strike someone out to end the game, they sent me down to AA saying they weren't happy with me. I don't like that the 'request a trade' option only comes up occasionally.

I believe they can renew the contract if you don't sign one.

Hm, seems like a nice combination oldskool. I might try going with something similar, at least with the four and a slurve/slider.

treble, what's your other stats like? Like I mean your actual base stats, not game stats. If your actual stats aren't good enough, for AAA, you'll usually get sent down. I think you need at all your base stats for the position you are playing at least in the 50s before you'll earn a shot at staying with the AAA club unless you are clearly the better option. The only way you can stay with the AAA or MLB when you have low stats is by being lights out, because you'll almost always get sent down.

They'll definitely offer you a contract, but it might take a few days. Though if you've been meeting your objectives and playing really well you'll get an offer immediately. But you don't need to wait till then, you can also go to the interactions and start a conversation concerning it. If you've got faith in your skills, I'd recommend doing that.

I haven't anything as grandoise happen yet to my RTTS batter like I did last year, when I got traded for David Ortiz just before the end of my third season, first with my MLB club, and got to go on a playoff run with the Red Sox. That was entertaining.

I'm not entirely sure on my base stats. I do know that, after my last advancement goal period (which I passed), I got a message from the manager telling me that they'd put me on the 40-man roster if they had room for me.

Ah, the reasoning why you got sent down then was to rack up those development points so that when it comes playoff time, they'll call you up to play. At least that's the only thing I can guess.

The callups/send downs in the 09 road to the show were maddening sometimes.

My starting pitcher for the Yankees spent an entire year in AA and an entire year in AAA. 3rd year I start off in the bigs at long relief, 3 weeks into the season they make me the #5 starter, I'm pitching great with like a 2.25 era and .98 whip, I'm the leading vote getter for the all-star game, then they send me down to AAA for no reason. Then they call me up and put me in the bullpen for a couple weeks before putting me back in the rotation. Then they send me back down. Then they bring me back and put me in the rotation in September, but because I wasn't on the roster Sept. 1 I didn't get to pitch in the playoffs.

It was just ridiculous because a team would never take their best performing starter who's leading the league in all-star votes and send him down to AAA, not to mention burn multiple options on him and keep him off the playoff roster. I hope 2010 has fixed the AI to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen.

I got traded to the Padres shortly after, sent up to AAA for the rest of the season starting July 1st, and they signed me to a major league contract and I'm in Spring Training right now. I think I'm going to make the team, and I'll probably be the closer eventually, but the Padres suck.

Rented MLB 10, doing the RTTS mode. I'm playing HORRIBLY so far, striking out way too much, and my AVG is under .200, so the Mariners traded me away after just 6 weeks into my career.

to the Yankees for a prospect 1B and AJ Burnett? whaaaat?

My RTTS experience on the PS2 version for 2010.

Drafted by the Detroit Tigers as a SP.
2010: Spent all season at AA Erie, missing half the season to injury.
2011: Spent the season at AAA Toledo.
2012: Sent back down to AA Erie for the first two months, then sent back to AAA Toledo.
2013: Pitched the first six weeks at Toledo, then moved up to the Tigers as a middle reliever. Traded at the All Star break to the Milwaukee Brewers where I was used as a long reliever.
2014: The Brewers attempted to sign me for a six year contract at $1.9 million total. I balked and attempted to negotiate a one year deal. The Brewers refused to offer anything short of a four year deal (buying out a potential arb. year at less than minimum salary). Eventually they renewed my deal for $395,000. I was sent down to AAA Nashville as a long reliever, where I currently reside.

At this point my three requests to start have been denied, as well as my trade request. The Brewers have 15 pitchers on their MLB staff and 10 on their AAA staff, so I pitch nearly every day. The tremendous thing is that despite having not started a game in a year, I lead AAA starters in All Star votes with the All Star game less than a week away.

You've got A potential, if that's any consolation. Not that the Yankees would realistically deal a currently talented player for a prospect...

I started playing RTTS today, and I'm nearly done with Spring Training. Made myself as a 25-year old shortstop, and get drafted by the Reds. Struggled at the plate early, but a game against the Rockies sorta helped things out. Hitting around .250-.260 (all singles), and I got about 7 RBI's, but no stolen bases. Fielding is a little tricky at times.
