the new york times is so incredibly full of itself and up its ass it doesn't even realize how silly it is. I've always found it stupid for papers/news organizations to endorse candidates tbh. It ruins the whole concept of them being impartial. And with groups like the Times it just hurts the candidate (Or candidates! how wacky!) they endorse.

lol
Bernie actually brought this up at rally yesterday. He talked about how everyone would need to step up for him in NH and Iowa while he focused on the impeachment trial.

Also Town Hall was different than what I was expected. No one got to any questions. It was just Bernie and a few others delivering speeches at a brewery. It was cool that beer was available but you couldn't bring it in the main hall. Far left Canadian activist Naomi Klein was the featured speaker before Bernie so I guess that lessened the sting of not being able to ask Bernie about AEW.

despite some major disagreements with some of his policy as president, I still like Barack Obama. Fuck him if he does this, he needs to stay out of it until the nomination and then campaign like hell for WHOEVER it is. This election is too important to fuck around and his voice carries too much weight.

Agreed. He's on a shortlist of genuinely popular Dem presidents in the current voting blocks lifetime, it's basically him and Bill and JFK, so throwing shade at what's likely the best chance to win this year's election is bullshit.

I hope the situations are different enough (Sanders does seem to have more support than Jeremy Corbyn and less left wing people attacking him) but we (the UK) just had a left wing socialist candidate with big policies vs. evil idiot who panders to the far right and the latter won. Part of it was a lot of the media being very anti socialist left wing people (rather than centrist left wing people) constantly attacking Corbyn (which people have mentioned the US media doing too with Sanders)

This is not a statement about why Sanders is a bad candidate, I'm currently hoping the Labour party here doesn't veer too much towards a "safer" stance after Corbyn's defeat. But I can totally see why there might be some apprehension in the US given the similarities between our politics/current climate...

I highly highly doubt Barack will actually come out against Bernie. Unless he wants to develop "go away heat" from his left wing base (ala Bill Clinton in '08 when he campaigned so hard for his wife).

It's funny, in my view, I see a lot of the mainstream Democrats/media making same mistakes that mainstream Republicans/media made in 2016.

Did you see The Daily Beast trying to make a controversy out of a clumsy Bernie quote from the '70s about wage slavery and tried to basically say "OMG BERNIE SAID POOR WHITE PEOPLE HAVE IT AS BAD AS SLAVES!!!!"? Tell us what Biden (and Warren probably tbh) was saying about race relations in the '70s, you dumdums. The mainstream media's brain has been broken by the last 5-10 years.

But that's what happened in England, the media kept publishing stories picking on Corbyn and never acknowledging the fact that his opponent had said/done much much worse things (and specifically much worse comparable things). They weren't dumb though, they were deliberately manipulating the narrative.

And arguably it worked.
I have Jewish American friends who seemed to genuinely think Corbyn in power would lead to Jewish people being chased out of the country (which was not at all an accurate assessment of Labour's issue with antisemitism)

As I said, I absolutely hope you guys get a decent president and Sanders seems like a good person. I just am far too conscious of how the media can affect the perception of a candidate and how the left wing media is still run by people invested in maintaining the status quo re distribution of wealth

I still see Biden sweeping the entire southern belt that Hilary did. SC, Florida, Louisiana, Tenn, KY, Alabama, Texas etc... (if you look at the polls in most of these states it's not close) So basically for someone to beat him they're going to have to sweep the entire northern belt.

I mean it could happen. But, someone is going to have to get a ton of momentum, and that's hard with so many people still in. Bernie's best bet is for everyone else to drop out quickly.

I can't figure out which GTG thread to post this in and I didn't want to start a 4th Election thread in there.

I never ever wanted to think about Amy Klobuchar fucking. If I had to read this so do all of you.

I can't see myself fucking Klobuchar. Tulsi Gabbard is awful, but yeah I would. She's not running for president but Kristin Sinema is hot.

Why did I post this?

I feel like this is going to be a pattern every few weeks now and people will always panic over it but nothing will come from it... Obama can easily slide into that unspoken overseer role Hillary had with the DNC and I can't see him risking his popularity unless Biden is going to dominate the primaries in a way no one anticipates right now. But even then... I just can't see it.

nice

Just wouldn't make sense fracturing things like this even though this is the party that likes to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Nope cannot see it. Just media bullshit floating this out to get a pulse on what people actually feel with Bernie unlike the disconnected idiots that are the Clintons who will just say whatever who cares they got nothing left to look forward to might as well kill the party off with them.

A co-worker walked by me looking at a bunch of pictures of Klobuchar to see if I could see what that Reddit weirdo was talking about and I honestly would have rather gotten caught looking at straight up porno.

Tulsi is a moonbat for sure but I think, objectively speaking, she is a hot woman.

Yes, totally believe Fox Business has the inside scoop on Obama, and in no way do they have interest in sowing discord amongst Dems leading up to the election.

Hey, I'm glad Rogan is a Bernie Bro! But on a recent pod Rogan said he wanted a Sanders/Tulsi ticket *shudder*

I like Joe and I agree with him on a lot of things, but despite us being in the same sphere politically I'm almost always annoyed with him when he talks politics and isn't trying to be funny or irreverent.

It's another tempest in a teapot moment where the mainstream media and the easily outraged/hardcore Hillary supporters try and foist controversy.

Also why weren't people when Bernie actually did an whole hour+ long interview with Rogan like six or seven months ago.

Joe Rogan has given platforms to some truly garbage people and has said some transphobic shit but his show is also listened to by a lot of easily susceptible, influenced dudes. Better for them than to listen to Bernie than Jordan Peterson.

If you asked me a year ago to bet on whether ‘Kyrsten Sinema’ was the name of a politician or the latest actress to sign with Vixen, I would have lost a metric shit ton of money.

Not a big fan of Joe anymore, but these things are just facts. It feels like a lot of people don't understand anymore that in order to win an election, a candidate has to attempt to reach out to as many people as possible and build a coalition.

Also, Bernie isn’t endorsing Rogan, it’s the opposite and Rogan is signing onto his leftist agenda and endorsing it. These kinds of endorsements have power.

I don’t know what kind of people is ok for Democrats that’ll win them the states they lost. There’s people far worse than Joe Rogan that we need votes from.

Nobody is ok tbh. There are a lot of people who think this party should solely be looking for the votes of neoliberals and centrists. There are also a lot of people who think this party should only be looking for the votes of extreme liberals. This kind of bullshit is why Republicans win. They will vote for literally anyone, and I’m not saying we should stoop to that, but anyone who gets mad about this should check themselves. Ask themselves why it is ok to keep losing and what we accomplish by doing that.

Is there anything Bernie can do that will get him more support in the Southern Belt that Clinton swept last time? To me, that is the secret that needs to be focused on. He needs to find a way to garner that support. Biden has such strong support in the African American communities down there according to polls. It's really the same problem Bernie faced in 2016.

and that person actually WORKS for Warren, much bigger than retweeting an endorsement. I would laugh at how obviously disingenuous this all is if it didn't have such a real impact.

bernie is playing 3-dimensional chess and these neolibs are trying to trip him up because they know he's actually someone who will blow up the establishment, unlike Trump who entrenched it.

The other thing that matters is that all of these candidates were actively seeking his platform and tacitly his endorsement. Now some of the people involved with those campaigns are big mad. It's very transparent.
