It's because being likable and personable is the most important thing in a primary at this point in time. Biden is somewhat personable but he is also actively telling people to fuck off if they don't like one or two of his positions.

"What about Trump?" is probably a counter to that thing about being likable and personable, but most of his supporters are sociopaths or people who at best have had life-long problems with caring about other people. So he fully represents them.

Also, it should be noted that the right wing smear machine works and they were able to make up shit pretty easily about Biden. It's not as easy to do that with the other candidates because their sons were not offered jobs they were plainly unqualified for. Even though Joe Biden had literally no involvement in that, the average American is pretty easily led to believe falsehoods. Having a great campaign structure isn't enough to carry someone over the line in the face of those things. It's going to be hard for them to make up shit that sticks on the other candidates. Telling people the healthcare they love will be taken away isn't good enough when fucking everyone hates their health insurance provider.

People are working for Biden mostly out of loyalty rather than because they want him to be President I think. His time has passed. If he was going to run it should have been in 2016.

Yeah, but his son Beau had just died from horrible brain cancer combined with him either not wanting to run against Hillary or being asked not to divide the party by Barack

Also, by all accounts he didn't really want to run this time but was talked into it. Which begs the question....why wasn't he equipped with a better campaign machine? I think the answer, disturbingly if you're like me and believe that our democracy is on the precipice, is that the DNC is fucking incompetent

The DNC doesn't run his campaign, you dope

And he doesn't have a better campaign machine for a lot of reasons. One being a lack of donors. It's like, extremely obvious why he has a lack of donors. He isn't that likable and a lot of people don't connect with him because he treats people like shit on camera, where the whole world can see it. Some of them deserve to be treated like shit, but he starts grabbing people and poking them in the chest. That kind of attitude makes a lot of people uncomfortable.

He's also really old and isn't proposing policies that people are invested in. A lot of people don't want the country to go back to what it was four years ago, they want things to move forward. The system is broken and ripe for abuse. It's a rather questionable idea to put Biden in office for that reason alone, the Republican after Trump isn't going to be as much of a dumbass as Trump. Their ability to restore things to what they are at this moment needs to be limited, and I think a lot of people feel this way.

well, the DNC conspired against Bernie in 2016 and they were definitely the ones behind getting him to run this time because everyone was scared of BIG BAD BERNIE THE SOCIALIST BEAR

it really goes to show how fucked the democratic party is and how they fucking NEED progressives like Bernie and Warren, and candidates of color like Harris and Booker and Castro, and a young firebrand like Pete to energize people

That they didn't get the message of the democratic base not fully getting behind Hillary in 2016, and didn't learn the lessons of 2018, and STILL want to muck things up with Bloomberg......if Trump wins again because they can't sacrifice for the greater good and get behind Bernie Sanders who is our best chance to beat him.......

That's the one thing that sticks in my craw that centrists say that we want to return to the normalcy of the Reagan/Clinton/Bush(es)/Obama years.

Last forty years are why we are in this Trump mess in the first place. Normal way of doing politics sucks. And MAGA Chuds response is by electing someone who is even worse.

It's like Joel Embiid said the day after the election, America is tanking right now.

(Local politicians thread crosspost)

Maine's 2nd district Congressman Jared Golden (not my district but the district that represents the 75% of Maine that isn't Portland and its suburbs) endorsed Michael Bennet for President.

Michael Bennet didn't even make the ballot in Maine.

Guessing it's more for NH and I guess "A Congressman from the next state over endorsed me" is as good of an endorsement as Michael Bennet can get. I usually forget he's still in the race!

This is a great example of how Biden is alienating potential voters.

Now that Biden's campaign is in a tailspin, I am a bit sad we aren't going to get a

"Man, if we were younger, I would have beaten you up so bad."

"That's not true! I would have kicked your ass if we were younger" exchange with him and Trump at a debate.

(not to mention that I don't think Trump is going to debate whoever is the nominee in the Fall)

Anyone have any irrational predictions for the NH Primary tomorrow?

I have one; I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Tulsi Gabbard to finish in the Top 5. New Hampshire has a bunch of galaxy brained libertarians and she is perfect candidate for them. Anecdotal evidence, when I've been to New Hampshire in the past year, she has the 2nd most signs behind Bernie. She's really put all her eggs in the NH galaxy brained libertarian basket.

Can confirm Kamala's insinuation about NH pulling for Tulsi. I was in Exeter this morning for work and drove through Plaistow yesterday, many Tulsi signs in front yards.

This seems VERY BAD to me.

I got a horrible feeling one of the Mayors might get the nomination. What are you think Bloomburg's odds are? It seems like the closer Biden comes to dropping out, the better they are.

I still think it's BernDawg's race to lose and I think debating Bloomer will make a great warm up for debating Trump.

His whole strategy is spend a fuckton on ads while skipping the first 4 states, in waiting for Biden to falter. Supposedly he only got in when he saw how lackluster Biden's campaign was out of the gate. Everything seems to be going according to plan for him. The carpet bombing of ads has worked.

I'm glad he's spending on anti-Trump ads, it's a good use of his wealth. I don't personally like him, and I think he'd lose to Trump who has a massive war chest of his own. BERNIE OR BUST

Yeah. I'm taking comfort in the fact that I don't think Bloomer can sustain this rise once he gets exposed on the debate stage. He's going to get hammered even harder than Biden and he doesn't have the political experience that Uncle Joe has or the charisma/weird trainwreck appeal that Trump does.

And of course, Biden's core of black voters aren't going to move over to Bloomer with videos like these out there

It's just outright sad to begin with that a center right oligarch is a somewhat serious candidate for the Democratic nomination.

I think it's sad but at the same time I think it's better than being the party that has a wide assortment of candidates compared to what you see with the GOP. You've got a pretty (I don't know if i like the term good but) good spread from far left to centre-right on offer if you're looking for a candidate this year.

Yeah, I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately and what it says about our country. Wasn't that long ago that Bloomberg was a republican.

It's absolute bullshit that he sneaks in the backdoor via being uber rich while more qualified candidates like Harris and Booker had to drop out due to lack of funds. And you know, the whole DNC moving the goalposts thing after they were gone......nothing shady there at all

DNC doesn't make it any easier on people like me when they actively screwed Bernie in 2016 and are seemingly trying to fudge things up yet again.

Just EMBRACE THE BERN YOU POTATO PEELIN SACKS OF SHIT

Biden left New Hampshire already. I wouldn't be shocked to see him fall out of the Top 5. Then if he finishes outside out of the Top 2 in Nevada, I think the South Carolina Firewall will be eroded.

I think Warren might be in huge trouble too tbh. If she finishes outside the Top 3 tonight, she's got to consider throwing in the towel. Her campaign is desperate for some positive momentum and I am not seeing it. Lackluster performance at that debate on Friday, not a lot of excitement from her base.

CNN needs to get their shit together. They have this narrative that people aren’t going out to vote but this primary is on pace to have more voters than the 2016 NH primary. Fuck outta here with that shit

They just have more people to choose from and people have a hard time understanding that. It's like every kind of Democrat has a candidate who fits their ideals to choose from.
