Well it's not going to matter what Tusli Gabbard's positions are because she used to proudly talk about working for anti-gay conversion therapy, being a huge apologist for Assad, and a lot of anti-muslim shit. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/1/16/18182114/tulsi-gabbard-2020-president-campaign-explained I don't see the democrat base rallying to that kind of candidate

Kamala makes me very nervous, because I do not believe that 'anyone' can beat Trump in 2020.

People can talk about how Hillary lost because the "Clinton's are crooks" or "drain the swamp" or Bernie fans being pissed. But she lost due to a lot of misogyny. On top of that you add in a minority woman, I think it will be very difficult for her to beat Trump. He got a shit ton of white women votes in 2016 so how is an African-American woman going to get those?

These Democratic debates will be the most interesting of our lifetime in regards to the party out of power. Everyone probably should throw their name in the hat because Trump has to be the most vulnerable 1st term Prez since Carter? That said if the DNC wants to win in 2020 they need to figure out a way to navigate the waters better than the Republicans did in 2014-15. While it got them the Presidency I highly doubt it was the route they wanted.

Bernie rides again.

Not on a boat, not with a goat. Not here, not there, not anywhere...

... Unless he somehow wins the primary. Then, I'll hold my nose, and pull the lever, because anything is better than Trump. But not until and unless the options literally come down to the two of them. Because fuck that guy.

Bernie in the primaries is, hopefully, going to force the other Dems to pull further left (you know, where they fucking should be anyway), but I don't want to see another person old enough to be my grandparent as POTUS ever again.

This. It's exactly why I didn't want Joe Biden running in '16. The days of baby boomer presidents who still hold beliefs that "the wife should stay home and take care of the kids while the man works" should be left in the dust.

Bernie would be third or fourth on my list of the expected candidates. People like Castro and Gillibrand I have no idea why they're running tbh.

I guess, but we still have roughly eighteen months to find out. And to see how they address whatever skeletons may be in their respective closets. We already know what Sanders is about.

100 percent in agreement (except for the fact that my grandfather would be a hundred, if he were still alive... but I knew what you meant). If Sanders were elected, he would be seventy-nine years old on the date that he's sworn in... which I think (just going off the dome, I may need to be fact-checked on this) would make him the oldest-ever president, at the time of his inaguration. In order to successfully serve two terms in office, he'd have to live to be at least eighty-seven which, while hardly inconceivable, would require him to exceed his statistical life expectancy by a decade. Anybody who could reasonably be expected to die of natural causes while in office has no fucking business running for president.

If Bernie Sanders were really in this for the good of the country, or for the good of the cause/movement, and not for the good of Bernie Sanders, he would hand-pick a younger successor, who shares his ideology, and put all his political capital into getting that person elected.

I like Bernie. But I’d rather he sit out. Also in agreement that the oldest people shouldn’t be in anymore.

I've been getting into far too many arguments with Democrats lately. It's shocking how much they're clinging to Hillary still. Ideologically they're Republican Lite, only seeming reasonable because Republicans went off the deep end in the 80s.

"Hillary ran a bad campaign."
"SEXIST!"
"Sexism didn't make her skip Wisconsin."
"RUSSIAN TROLL!!!"
"No, she ran a poor campaign and expected a contemporary Presidential election to be no more than a layup."
"GET OUT OF HERE YOU REPUBLICAN!"
"The DNC fixed the results for her even."
"PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE WHY WE LOST!"
"She never endorsed true Left positions until Bernie made her sweat."
"HE'S NOT A DEMOCRAT, GET OUT OF OUR PARTY!!"
"Superpredators."
"SEXIST!!!"

Vote Working Families Party if it's an option on your ballot, because the Democrats are fucked if they run shit like 2016 again.

"Superpredators."

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me why Hillary Clinton is the only person that the Crime Bill sticks to when, of all the people still considered relevant in 2019 Democratic politics, she's the only one who didn't vote for it?! Like, I'm not even saying that she should get a pass but, if she's got to wear that Scarlet Letter for the rest of her life, then the two motherfuckers who actually voted for it damn well should, also. But they don't, and that's bullshit. Nobody ever brings up the Crime Bill as a slam on Sanders, or on Biden. I say, they either need to let it slide for everybody, or let it slide for nobody; I guess I'd be good, either way, as long as it was consistent, but fuck that double standard.

Like, you say "SEXIST!" derisively, as if to mock feminists/Hillary supporters/screeching harpies/whomever it is you're mocking, but I'd like to hear why Clinton should continue to have to eat shit over the Crime Bill, but Sanders and Biden shouldn't, explained in a way that doesn't come off as sexist?

I guess that depends on your definition of "like," since the votes didn't necessarily appear to support that. I didn't "like" Clinton but, IMO, she was the least "unlikeable" out of anyone running, in either (any) party, by an order of magnitude.

Agree 100%. Hope he doesn't muck it up. As I said in previous posts I get why every Dem is throwing their hat in. If they get the Nom they have a good chance against Trump in theory, but I worry they will "eat their own" before 2020.

I know documentaries are intentionally bias, but Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 11/9 did a good job of showing how Obama taking big business' side on the Flint water issue helped Trump land a narrow Michigan victory.

And we have a way bigger hillbilly population than people think.

This may be true, but the loudest Democrats apparently want no more than to die on that Hill (pun intended).

Bernie isn't a Baby Boomer, and does he believe this when the nurses' union is one of his strongest backers?
