Happy for a new DC, and happy for everyone to have some balls crazy story to keep us busy until the bowls and playoffs start.

Music City Bowl prediction: 65-35 crowd split in favor of Tennessee. Both teams having orange as a primary color will be annoying. Illinois presents itself well but an upper midcard SEC team will beat the crap out of a midcard Big Ten team especially when it's not really a neutral site. Granted, Illinois is pretty close to Nashville too but we gotta salvage SOME positivity out of this season and going forward. 42-21 Vols, who pull away in the second half.

Montana State rolled SFA last night 44-28 to advance. RBs Adam Jones (114, 2 TD) and Julius Davis (96) carried the load for Montana State.

- Kirby Moore, Missouri OC, will be the new HC for Washington State.
- Morgan Scalley will be promoted and replace Kyle Whittingham as Utah HC.
- Brennan Marion is the new OC at Colorado
- Chris Fisk (DII Central Washington) will be the new HC at Portland State
- Ryan Beard is leaving Missouri State to be the new HC of Coastal Carolina
- Mercer will be hiring Joel Taylor (West Georgia) as their new HC
- Florida A&M is hiring Quinn Gray (DII Albany State) as their new HC
- Hampton is hiring Van Malone as their new HC
- Nick Rolovich is staying at Cal, accepting a 2 year deal as AHC/QB Coach

Ohio U is generally a “do what you want” program so this dude must done some freakier than usual shit.

FCS Championship will be Montana State vs. Illinois State after Montana State won 48-23 over Montana and Illinois State beat Villanova on the road 30-14.

Ferris State also rolled Harding 42-21 to win the DII National Championship, becoming the first team to go 16-0 in D1 or D2.

Cal and Hawai'i had a fun matchup last night with Hawai'i scoring a 22 yard TD with 10 seconds left to win it 35-31 (including outscoring Cal 35-10 after being down 21-0 early). Tarnished a bit by a team wide brawl at the very end of the game though as Hawai'i ran onto the field to celebrate.
 
Michigan is expected to hire former Utah HC Kyle Whittingham as their HC soon.
 
Anytime you can hire someone who just “retired” and everybody else said “nah” and after a quick glance at his social media history you can determine he isn’t chasing instathots, you gotta get him.

The SEC is obviously absurdly overrated and it can't be ignored anymore.

3 years no title game. 2-8 against the other power conferences in playoff games during that time. These teams also deliberately avoid power conference opponents during the regular season. When the best teams in the conference seek out subpar competition in regular season games, it's something we need to take into account going forward. Ole Miss hasn't played a team like Miami in non-conference in like a decade.
 
They should just join the Big Ten while they still can.
 
Transfer Portal is upon us. Notables include Penn State (29 transfers thus far) - "The list of Cyclones joining them in Happy Valley includes 13 players who started games in 2025 and a trio who earned All-Big 12 honors in Hansen, Brahmer and Neal. There was no doubt that [QB Rocco] Becht, a 39-game starter, and many of Iowa State's top juniors would look to finish their careers with Campbell."

Oklahoma State under Eric Morris has 33 players with the big group being QB Drew Mestemaker (North Texas), RB Caleb Hawkins (North Texas), WR Wyatt Young (North Texas), WR Miles Coleman (North Texas), WR Terrence Lewis (North Texas) all following him from North Texas which should immediately put the offense on the map for next season.
 
Bobby Hauck is retiring from Montana in very surprising news. "Hauck went 151-43 in two stints with the Griz, his alma mater, sandwiched around a 5-year run at UNLV. He took the Grizzlies to four FCS national title games, most recently in 2023. He won at least a share the Big Sky Conference title in all seven seasons during his first 7-year run from 2003-09, including three trips to the FCS title game and four semifinal appearances. He exits as the winningest coach in Big Sky history."

Bobby Kennedy has been named HC in a promotion. "... Kennedy crafted a career as one of the most respected wide receivers coaches in college football, with stops at Wake Forest, Washington, Texas, Colorado, Iowa, Stanford and Rice (plus one season coaching running backs at Arizona)."

"If a deal is reached with North Dakota State, the Mountain West will have 10 football-playing members for 2026 — two football-only programs in NDSU and Northern Illinois, as well as Air Force, UNLV, Nevada, New Mexico, San Jose State, Wyoming and other new full members Hawaii and UTEP.

Perhaps the most attractive school at the FCS level, North Dakota State has won 10 of the past 15 national championships."

This would be a shockwave for the FCS as well as far as the ability for other schools to take the FCS Championship. It'd also be a great fit for NDSU regionally and competition-wise while making it an interesting move recruiting wise.
