I low-key think he might be the best announcer ever but since I'm very limited in Spanish can't confirm.

White's booking is shocking. Should've gone to WWE.

I wasn't sold on White when everyone else was, but the few matches of his I caught after his IWGP title reign showed a personality that made me want to see more.

Tony Khan needs to hire a booker. Or two. Immediately.

I mean when you are producing as many hours of television as AEW, you need an entire creative team. I know writers rooms aren’t a popular concept with hardcore fans but AEW has got to put creating great television ahead of putting together great matches.

'Start a company where workers are able to work less and don't kill their bodies'

Guy works less for a little while, feuds with one of AEW's most popular acts

'Goddamnit I didn't mean this guy'

Look at what Andrade is doing (nothing) and you have your answer for what Jay White would be doing. Simple fact is, sometimes guys have to take turns doing nothing. Like Mox was doing the last two months. Or Christian now.

They were riding Jay hard the last year and had him doing all kinds of shit. They didn't have MJF put him over like they should have, but that brings us to Swerve now.

White's been mishandled since he was made third wheel in the MJF/Cole shit. He's a can't miss that's been booked terribly for months to where it's embarrassing. Guys like Mox and Christian are established and have gotten their flowers with the company. White has just been misused straight up.

Juice going down with a long-term injury is the biggest reason Jay's push has been derailed. I think Jay has been misused but not because he was part of the MJF storyline. He completely torched MJF and got over with the audience more because of it. It was because he was left with nothing after that feud that was interesting to do.

The decline in the Bullet Club brand in general has not helped either. I agree with 909 that guys take turns being pushed and Jay isn't getting his turn atm but I do think he could be better used.

There is no way he'd be better off in NXT.

That's the thing, though. He got over huge and it got squandered as there was no plan once the MJF/Cole thing got hotter. He's been misused since. Taking turns is great and all but the fact he's where he is now, and how he got there, and the long journey back is down to bad booking that didn't need to be. He can succeed without Juice.

One reason you haven't seen him is because he can't work in Canada. The US has completely changed their work visa policy on allowing foreigners to work in other countries where they aren't citizens. He can only work here. Like there are practical reasons for some of these complaints. It's not bad booking when you aren't allowed to use somebody. They're going back to Canada for two more weeks soon so you won't see him again then.

That's a piece, definitely, but ultimately not a large one after all these months of misuse.

I don't think Jay should have signed with WWE but with Dynamite's ratings being what they are, it might benefit the company to feature one of its star players more.

Jay White isn’t a ratings magnet for the company to the extent he would make a significant impact. The company and by that extension, the network is fine where the ratings reside.

The two biggest ratings movers they have that aren’t on the show regularly right now is about to have a major surgery and the other is always injured and works for the other company.

It’s okay that Jay is in a c tier program right now as long as he doesn’t get buried in it and this audience isn’t going just forget they jizz for Jay White anytime soon.

This ratings stuff is so silly. They literally beat everything on cable in the demo except NBA. AEW for both Dynamite and Collision is consistently in 3rd overall for ratings. There's nothing wrong with their ratings. No one at the networks is looking at their ratings on a weekly basis for dips or any of this other stuff. The only use it has is the quarter hours to see what acts people change the channel on.

Forbes just valued AEW at 2 Billion dollars https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10117503-ufc-wwe-aew-headline-forbes-2024-list-of-most-valuable-combat-sports-promotions#:~:text=Mike Ozanian and Justin Teitelbaum,by AEW at $2 billion. for whatever that is worth.

I don't think anyone outside wrestling fans are looking at ratings in a negative light.

edit: We did this same thing with WWE for like 20+ years and all they did was increase in value exponentially.

That last part is a big thing, too. We shat on WWE ever since ratings took the big dips in 2002, and they literally just became bigger as a result.

Add to that the DVR ratings for AEW being something like 2-3x the live audience, and then all we have to really criticize the weekly product, on a business level, is live attendance. And those problems can be solved with a) better promotion of live events (which they're doing), and b) running smaller venues. The latter should've been the go-to anyway, because a rabid full house at 5,000 will come across better on TV than a rabid 5,000 house in a 20,000 seat building.

Meltzer said Revolution did a big number that was better than expected so really attendance is the only metric that is lagging right now

Once they figure out how to promote locally and stop chasing WWE, that’ll be addressed.

Notice the shows that draw strong have a reason to be there. Sting retirement, Mone debut etc etc, they have created a sense that the main appeal of AEW is that “better wrestling here”…okay but it’s on free tv so why attend a live show?

The FOMO is a big factor with WWE audience right now. What are you missing if you skip a Dynamite or Collision? A really good Kyle Fletcher match? Okay he will have another one next week. A lot of shows can feel like a maintenance show for local fans.

I’m not suggesting Tony needs to go back to gimmicking every weekly show but more event oriented shows along with actual promotion beyond tweets is basically all the company needs to do to rectify this attendance slump.

WWE always makes a point of showing the local pro athletes in the crowd having a good time. AEW had one of the 2-3 most famous active NBA players in the crowd weeks after he won the first NBA Championship for the city in 50 years and just had him ham it up off camera.

Little things like that make a huge difference for casual fans. There is probably at least one pro wrestling fan at every regional sports network or talk radio station. Get guys on there to chop it up with the host and plug the shows. They have had success with this in the past.
