I don't understand why people were there, let alone cheering and chanting for someone who couldn't stand up and obviously just wanted to hug her black friends and go to sleep. I don't understand how anyone was left in the audience after that.

Least surprising celebrity death in a while. And another musician joins the 27 Club. For all of the razzing about her, Back to Black was a pretty damn good neo soul record. Too bad we didn't get a follow up.

Maybe it's because I'm completely out of touch with what's considered popular in music these days, but I really couldn't care less about her. I hope that this doesn't turn into one of those "great talent dies young" type scenarios where her music is looked upon much more favourably because she's not around anymore.
It's already started with that Louie Anderson looking Kamala, CMON MAN the 27 Club has Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and you want to put Amy Winehouse's name with those rock legends?

You'll find any excuse to call me out, YPOV! I'm not saying the 27 Club is entirely comprised of great musicians. Just famous musicians! She had one good to great album and then couldn't handle her addictions. That's what most everybody in this thread is saying!

She deserves zero sympathy. People can talk about fame and what it does but at the end of the day she was a grown woman who made her own decision and now she has to live...er....die with them.

If it was in OD, I don't feel bad at all that she died. Instead of being cute and making songs about how you don't want to go to rehab, you should have gone. I feel bad for the family she left behind by being selfish.

Bingo. Her album was tremendous in my opinion. She had limitless potential, could have been great, but fell victim to addiction.King Kamala said:

When I called Pops Kamala to ask him if he's heard about Amy Winehouse, he said "She's dead?" I mean, really, we were making fun of her like two weeks about the fact she was going to die soon. That's just the type of board we are.
And LOTC's post was more or less a Cliff Notes version of my 7th grade study skills' rants about how drug addicts deserve to die and anybody who worships a dead rock star is an idiot. I'm not disagreeing with the sentiment (though a B.S. middle school elective class in an odd forum to deliver it in), just reminded me of it.
And doesn't heroin kind of preserve you in moderate amounts? Look at Keith Richards and the fact that William Burroughs lived into his eighties! I thought it was more the mixture of that and crack that did her in.
