CBS: Big Ratings for Old People

Kevin Costner is the same age now that Jack Lemon was when Lemon did Grumpy Old Men.

As that was the original intro that they did with the pilot episode, it was the only episode that had a scene happen before the opening credits since the scene ended with Radar catching a football, turning around and we see the helicopters show up. I consider M*A*S*H to be the greatest, most groundbreaking show ever made. The way they interweaved comedy and drama, storylines of race and religion, and doing episodes like shooting from the point of view of a wounded soldier or in real time, going black and white for the interview episode. I still watch mini marathons of the show almost every day at work, and have seen the entire run of the show about 10-12 times, if not more.

The first three seasons of MASH are untouchable, it just ran way too long. Frank leaving seemed to cause them to forget how to be funny.

As great as 1-3 were, I think 4 and 5, with much of 6 were even better. Welcome to Korea and Change of Command are the best 2 episodes of almost anything they ever did, especially Welcome to Korea knowing that that episode was pretty much put together at the last moment when they got word that Wayne Rogers wasn't coming back. It certainly went on way too long at times, they were just reach for some later episodes, but I'll put up many of those later ones as some of the best dramas I've ever seen. Having Charles show humanity in many of them, making him more of a layered character than Frank was, was a huge plus for me.

That's the thing, though. Losing Rogers and Stevenson at the same time was just horrible timing, and if one or other left first it would've felt like a much more natural transition. As much as I love Potter the dynamic never felt as good, and I just honestly can't stand BJ on account of me not being able to stand Mike Farrell. It drifted into preachiness almost as soon as Frank was gone, it seems like. Also, and most obviously, a two-year war shouldn't have an eleven-year show with multiple Christmas episodes because shit like that makes people like me afraid they're in some horrible time loop and every two years forget the last two years.

All Charles ever did was be arrogant and learn the error of his ways. Either with comedy comeuppance or the over-dramatic stuff they would pull out all the time later on. He never felt like he belonged and always was just there to grow as a person until the script said he didn't so he could grow again. I love David Ogden Stiers but man he did not fit.

I was super hooked into this season one. I can very distinctly remember that we skipped a night out by the lake UP NORT at the cabin to go inside and watch the first year's finale. My sister in law called the swerve that Susan was going to vote off Rudy because Richard was more unlikable and thus less likely to win a 1 on 1 vote with her.

I watched Season 2 for sure but I quickly lost interest. Was it season 2 or 3 where the producers had to step in as one team was starving?

I dipped back in for the all star season to see Rudy and Richard Hatch again. I'm not even sure I made it to the finals for that one.

Oh I missed this post. I was a diehard for Season 1. Missed the first couple of weeks, but got into it big time. Was rooting for Rudy to win and Gervase was cool too. Dr. Sean was hilariously lame. I remember he voted for Colleen and wrote her name as "Cooleen" and he had a thing for her. Had a big crush on Colleen and Jenna when I watched. Richard Hatch definitely was the best strategist.

I still liked Season 2 as well and Colby was likable enough. Just remember Jeri Manthey and Elizabeth Hasselback for the rest of the cast. Season 3, which was the third season to air in the span of a year, was when I thought it was overkill and stopped watching.

Last time I watched Survivor was when Ashley Massaro was on and I checked out pretty quick.

Diagnosis Murder was fun, though. Totally knew what it was. Dick Van Dyke is a treasure.

Bring fucking Martial Law into the equation and it gets real.

You joke but they actually did a Nash Bridges movie last year for the cock.

This isn’t out of the realm of possibility here.

PS: the Nash Bridges movie? Not shitty

I was all set to watch the Nash Bridges movie until I realized the whole series wasn't on there. Fuck off with that. I need the journey to appreciate the destination.

I had a big crush on Jodi Lynn O'Keefe and she deserved better than that cheating fuck Cortez. I'm glad he shot shot his own nuts off.
