CBS: Big Ratings for Old People

Amen was really fun. Been a long time though. Now 227? Silver Spoons? Early Edition? Fuck yeah.

Paramount or whoever gets Kyle Chandler using the newspaper to save people again, I'm in. Bonus points if Fisher motherfucking Stevens has a spot.

I don't care what thread it is or isn't, Manimal was dope.

Going through Square Pegs. This was good even without the random Bill Murray episode.

Seems like very odd timing to do this on New Year’s Day the year after the 40th anniversary of the series finale.

Thoughts and prayers to the boomers who don’t know how to pick between this and the CFP Semi Finals.

Writer didn't even know Wayne Rogers and William Chrisopher are dead, so you know it's anticipated.

My dream TV movie when I was in high school was a reunion of Hawkeye and Trapper who, after years, meet up at a speaking engagment in New York when their flight is delayed on 9/11 and they go help people because it's just what they do man

9/11.... but with zany hijynx?

Comedy in the face of tragedy, same thing. My hangup was it would no doubt resemble later shitty MASH vs early good MASH.

You can work in the other actors by having Trapper and Hawkeye trading notes on what they know about the others. Of course Trapper doesn't know Potter, Winchester, etc.

Even in 2001 they could say their adult kids are in contact online and have rounded up info on the 4077th.

Winchester outs himself and becomes a bi-sexual/gay rights activist on the side of his practice.
Klinger/Radar and Potter have the AfterMASH stuff to build off.
Frank got cucked by his wife in an appropriate twist.
Father Mulcahy is in prison for priesty stuff.
Margaret is the happiest grandmother ever with a ton of grandchildren.
Kelly's diabetes downed her in the 70s.

You can even get cameos from Gould and Duvall for fun.

Then we can argue about how Henry Blake (McClean Stevenson) showing up on.... Carol Burnett(?) in gimmick a week after his death and announcing he survived is canon or not. IT'S NOT!

BJ would be there, as well, just because he and Trapper not meeting is a shame. I despise BJ (and Mike Farrell period) but some things need to be. Beyond that, it doesn't really matter beyond passing comments or stories or parallells or something. The fact MASH went 11 years and had multiple Christmas shows for a two year war ruined history so it isn't like it matters.

I figure, canonically:

Frank hanged himself when he wasn't mentally sound enough to enlist in Vietnam. His hippie kids ignore his passing.
Winchester becomes a teacher or something but fuck Winchester he sucks.
Mulcahy becomes the local priest in a small town and pretty much lives in a G-rated sitcom where all he wants to do is go fishing.
Potter dies, and leaves everything to Radar and Klinger. They open a dude ranch. Klinger gets married two more times and Radar becomes an alcoholic when he realizes all his father figures die and he can't see it coming.
Margaret is well adjusted and wants to be left alone however suffers extreme outward PTSD

At one point I had stories for various supporting characters but the only one I remember is Igor being a diddler.

Bring on the prequels of other hit shows!

Norm's college days where he learned the joy of alcoholism. Sam Malone's glorious sex frenzy in the 70s before AIDS put him in check.

Al Bundy: Football star with the hot girlfriend....before it all went to pot

Carl Winslow's hijinks at the police academy.

They did a Dallas prequel movie so I propose Dallas: The Really Early Years

I assume that I’m not the only person here, who when I see one of the frequent ads on TV (or anywhere else) for the Kathy Bates reimagining of Matlock, immediately bellows (in my best Abe Simpson impression) “MMMAAATTTLLLOOOCCCKKK!!!” at the top of my lungs?

I’ve been asked to stop, and I’ve tried…but I just can’t.
