...because no matter how many times I hear it, it never gets old. Can't say the same for "Stairway", "Freebird" or any of those other standards. Yep, "Comfortably Numb" is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Oh, you are definitely right but I thought I might be biased because Springsteen is my favorite artist. Even from a neutral perspective that song is up there, though.

"Comfortably Numb" isn't even the best classic rock-radio staple from The Wall!

"Stairway" is still great but I can't listen to it without changing the station (those rare times when I listen to the radio). That never happens with "Comfortably Numb".

And I can't imagine it not being the best song off of The Wall. "Brick in the Wall" can be lumped in with the rest of the overplayed radio staples and the rest can't give "Comfortably Numb" a run for its money.

Boston's "More Than A Feeling" is my pick for Best Classic Rock Song Ever...and it's OK if you all want to laugh me out of the thread now.

"Young Lust" is definitely my favorite classic rock staple from The Wall by proxy of being the most rocking one and the least played of the three. Heck, it might get less airplay than "Hey You" (which I don't have any use for outside its use in The Squid and the Whale)

Who needs "Comfortably Numb" when Queensryche ripped it off so beautifully 11 years later?

I agree with Kamala. "More Than a Feeling" is the best classic rock radio song.

"More Than A Feeling" isn't really the sexiest choice but it's one of maybe a half dozen classic rocks that I've never tired of even though I've heard it thousands of times. Hell, the entire Boston debut album might be one of the Top 5 definitive classic rock albums. Too bad, they never recorded anything a tenth as good as it afterward.

Also, this thread comes at an appropriate time for me as Portland's quasi oldies station's format just got changed to a Jack FM ripoff two weeks ago. This mostly sucks. It sounds like listening to a 50 year old white person's IPod, especially since they've (at least temporarily) gotten rid of DJs. There are a few cool, left field song choices (I don't know if I ever heard Frida ft. Phil Collins "I Know There's Something Going On" on terrestrial radio before this and that song rules) but for the most part, it's the same old shit.

And they got rid of the morning show DJ, who's a family friend and does a lot of great charity work around town. Plus it was the only local morning show that doesn't have that godawful "1 to 2 wacky guys with their female straight woman talk about offbeat current events and play 3 to 4 songs an hour format that makes me want to slit my wrists.

They got rid of the DJ's at our local rock station, which was actually quite good. They played a pretty wide variety of stuff from classic rock to metal to alternative and used to have lots of contests and giveaways. Now the station has no DJ's and added a bunch of shitty 80's AOR crap like Journey, REO Speedwagon, etc.

I agree, but non-ironically.

A co-worker cites Queensryche as his favorite band. They're out there in the wild.

My one Facebook friend with weirder music taste than I am is aghast at the fact that there are two different Queensryches now and posts regular updates about how enraged he is that Geoff Tate tore the band apart and how his version is a fraud.

Edit---This Facebook friend is not Inc's co-worker...as far as I know.

I've never asked about what he thinks of the duelling Queensryches. I only know he likes them so much because he, originally from Seattle, was talking one time of what the music scene was like when grunge began to take off, and how the Q was better than all the grunge bands.

I like it, but it's probably my least favorite song on Sticky Fingers.

Yeah, my sentiments are the same as Inc's. I prefer "Angie" for big Rolling Stones ballads even. "Memory Motel" is my favorite Stones ballad (and possibly favorite Stones song period) but like that will ever get played on a classic radio station (unless it's one of those Memorial/Labor Day Weekend A to Z type deals).

Queen is not even the best band with 'Queen' in its name and mentioned in this thread! Um, hello?

Flying Burrito Brothers did "Wild Horses" better than the Stones.
