"Comfortably Numb" may be the best classic rock song ever...

Burned out on it. May never voluntarily listen to it again.

Edit: Referring to "Runnin' with the Devil".

Weird that Bowie doesn't get played on the radio in some markets.

"Changes", "Young Americans", "Fame", "Golden Years" and all of the Let's Dance singles are all staples on "Big Hits of the '70s and '80s" stations. "Ashes to Ashes" gets played occasionally but probably isn't in the regular rotation.

"Jean Genie", "Ziggy Stardust", "Rebel Rebel", and "Heroes" all get played on the classic rock station. Stuff like "Starman" and "Life On Mars?" get played sometimes on Psychadelic Saturdays (even though I wouldn't classify them as Psychedelic at all)

"Space Oddity" and "Under Pressure" get played on both.

"Heroes" is a great song but I don't consider it to be a great classic rock song if that makes sense.

I was huge into Van Halen like 3-4 years ago and I still love almost everything Roth did with them and even like some of the Van Hagar stuff but man, I feel like they've tarnished their name in the past ten years.

I mean, every classic rock staple has tarnished their name to some extent (Aerosmith is like 100x worse) but for some reason, I thought Van Halen had slightly more integrity than to do a cash grab reunion with DLR. But nope. Their reunion with Hagar before that was almost equally depressing.

"Runnin' With The Devil" is a song I've definitely burned out on. I enjoy listening to Van Halen II more than the first album even though the debut objectively is significantly better. Just because all of the songs on the first album are played out to death on classic rock stations.

So am I. And I could go the rest of my life without hearing "Bohemian Rhapsody," to bring Queen back into this.

Good call, Byron.

"Layla" is definitely up there.

Nah, even racists like Jimi Hendrix. He's used in a lot of racists arguments as to why they're not racist.

"Layla" is an awesome choic, byrone. The Derek and The Dominoes album is awesome but only "Layla" gets played on the radio regularly ("Bell Bottomed Blues" gets played maybe a few times a year). I enjoy their version of "Little Wing" better than Hendrix's. Which might mean I'm a racist.

Zeppelin is my favorite band, and I also love The Stones and Pink Floyd. All have songs mentioned in this thread, yet my favorite songs by each are not listed. Not that I think they should be thought of as better than the ones listed, but these songs are my favorites by those bands:

"Over the Hills and Far Away" by Led Zeppelin
"Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd
"Gimme Shelter" by The Rolllings Stones

I love lots of songs by all three bands, but these are my favorites. "Paint It Black" is very close to first in the Stones category, and I would say they change places every now and then.

Does anyone else here hate Rush? When I hear "Tom Sawyer," I turn the radio quickly. I understand why some people like them, but I am not of that ilk.

I was involved in theatre in high school, & now most of my friends are all homo weirdos. I've been consistently surrounded by Queen fans. I don't care for them.

I'll have to think about my favorite classic rock radio staple. More Than A Feeling & Born To Run are good choices.

Here is another one for the "never change the station" list:

"Limelight" by Rush.

I'm a big Rush man but I consider them a little too modern proggy to be considered classic rock. If any of their songs were to be considered for this thread though, I'd choose this:

"Gimme Shelter" - Rolling Stones
"White Room" - Cream

And this overlooked diddy from Jimi....

All the Young Dudes just popped onto my iPod this morning at the airport, and it deserves to be mentioned in this thread.

I prefer Foreplay/Longtime over More Than A Feeling by Boston. Actually, it's the only Boston song I really like.
