Comic Book Toys and Collectibles

SUPER annoying to see the 70s Hogan WWE Superstar figures appear to be "chase" so I'll probably never see them unless it is on ebay.

Capt Lou is also released and is 7 dollars more online than it would be in store (plus shipping).

This is the pain in the ass portion of collecting.

I did buy some Hogans, Mega Powers, and Andre figs from Ringside collectables this week.
The new basic white shirt Hogan fig showed up at Walmart. All 3 had a bent card. Cool. Cool.

In non wrestling crap that may interest the masses... I got a nice deal on the Bo Knows... 2 sided Tiger electronics hand held. Only 31 years later than hoped.

I've gotten random Mr. T stuff (music record, puzzles, board games), Mutant Mayhem TMNT crap, Mario movie figs, He man stuff and so on over the past few weeks. The buying never stops!

BAD month to have addictions. Have to pay the property tax bill, Xmas presents, a new 500 dollar lap top and SURPRISE a new TV as my TV died randomly Tuesday.

Paid the ebay price for the 70s Hogan (42ish). Paid 7 dollars more than I needed to for Capt Lou (27) as right after I won it on ebay, It came to my store. Got the new Hogan Funko, the ref Mr T fig, a Thundercats collectors case (paid half of the ebay price at a toy con right next to Brody manor), other random pick ups lately have been He-man puzzles, Mr T "Lazer" stickers from 83, various Little People playsets and figures, and so on.
I've been to Milwaukee for a con and multi-toy store run, as well as a church rummage sale, and another flea market in recent weeks. The plastic addiction is real!

Heading to Green Bay's biggest twice a year toy con at the Resch complex in 2 weeks, the week after that I'm back in Milwaukee for a weekend at the Midwest Gaming Classic. Staying at the Hilton as part of the Con rate deal.
--
Walmart online had their Collector Con yesterday and it went as annoying as we nerds were expecting. The He-man stuff mostly sold out in under a minute. Mattel really should just do pre-orders instead of making limited amounts and letting the scalpers run wild.
Somehow some people were using a backdoor to put shit in their online cart before the sale was even active, so the moment it kicked off they were able to hit "Buy".
The new TMNT MOTU Krang was still available when I checked in but with shipping it rang up at 92 bucks. I went on ebay and paid 60 instead. Still too much but the value is likely to only go up with the seemingly limited quantity

This theory doesn't always work out. I've certainly paid for new shit in the past year that then became shelf warmers and reduced in price.

Spent Fri in Milwaukee. Went to a fancy dan German eatery (Mader's) that I've spoken of in this thread before.
Followed it up by having a good time at a team improv show.
Spent all day Sat at the Midwest Gaming Classic. John Riggs and John Hancock declared it the best in the US.
Here's some pics of my adventures:

You'll have to expand it to see them all. Light Saber battles, Cosplay, motion sensor fights, endless video games, arcade machines, pinball machines.... panels, rock climbing, Hollywood cars, a giant vendor hall, 2 live wrestling shows and so on and on

My buddy was ill all day and skipped breakfast (unheard of for a 375 pounder) so we left at 7 for supper and missed the panel Riggs has a pic of just as this video starts.
The guy missing his arms is Patman, who posts arcade reviews on youtube but is also frequently on wrestlingclassics. Had I known he was going to be at the panel, I would have taken my buddies offer to stick around while he went for food.

As I posted above, with 1000 things happening at once, things will be missed and one of the things I regret bypassing was the modded systems Riggs and Hancock have been sharing on yt all weekend.

Not really a "comic book" but my Amazing Digital Circus POMNI figurine arrived from AniMatez :)

Had an insane weekend of toy hunting...

As I noted in the Brody wackiness thread, I drove to Sheboygan to a big toy store and dropped 300 bucks on Mario trophies, Mario toys, TMNT toys, lunch boxes, thermos and other junk.
Then today my buddies and I went to a toy con in Black Creek. Tiny con but I scored a vintage MOTU puzzle and a New Adventures of He Man VHS

Then we headed to a toy store in New London:

Tiny place, packed to the gills with stuff. I only found a 1987 Wrestling Picture book I can't recall ever seeing before. 8 dollars.

Odd choice of a cover since Hogan, and all the WWF stars are inside, plus NWA, some AWA, WCCW etc

--
Hit another vintage antique mall and I managed to not spend anything,

But then we hit a big vintage toy store next to my house, They were having a Father's Day vendor special in the parking lot. Somehow this one vendor was selling boxed action figures for upwards of 60 percent off their value. So I grabbed a WWE Superstars 70s Hogan Blue pants chase figure (35 plus on ebay) for 10 bucks. I also grabbed a few modern MOTU, also for 10 bucks. Plus a few vintage loose MOTU for 3 bucks each.
Could have gotten more if I wanted to as they had Warrior, Rock, Taker, etc and a ton others. My buddy bought a bunch of Anime girls who he didn't know because they were listed at 30 and selling for 10.
Once inside the actual store, I snagged a Wrestlemania 1 Clamshell VHS, more modern MOTU stuff, a Zelda mug, a giant 1989 Raphael TMNT (Mikey is the only vintage giant I am lacking now), a NECA Bebop and some random crap. Another 150 in all.

So the weekend haul was around 500 bucks. Good lord!

Pre-ordered the Millie, Moxie, and Fizzarolli figures for $29.99 each off the SharkRobot site (Helluva Boss' "Official" merch store) for the Fall/Winter. Looks like they already may be sold out/unavailable to pre-order on the site and I did the order June 1st.

Another week....another toy show....
Dropped over 125 today on TMNT ColorForms from the early 90s, a TMNT puzzle, 2 of the Sectaur giant bugs
A Hogan NWO bobble head, a Hogan vs Goldberg "board" game, Super 7 Mutagen Man, Mr Freeze (Arnold version) figure, an Infaceable figure and some other randoms (such as a Shy Guy "lamp"/Night Light/Something.... .

Went to a big flea market in Shawano this AM with 2 buddies. Always a wild mix of things to see. Amish baked goods, rusty tools, antiques, Pokemon cards, knick knacks, Walmart claimed out items that apparently were bought in bulk for resale, Funkos, Trump shit and so on.

Snagged some modern MOTU toys for a decent price. Masterverse New Eternia Stratos in box for 6 bucks and a loose toddler He-man, a plug and play TMNT game from the modern era.
Snagged a old hot wheel race set (1.00) for my cousin's kids, along with some Pokemon figs boxed for 3 bucks.
One booth had a naked Michael Jackson figured. My buddy quipped about the lack of genitals.
Another booth had an Urkel doll for 10 bucks I kind of regret passing on.

My buddy bought a "Mystery Box" from an Amazon returns reseller. He ended up with 2 hot tub tables and a foot mat. Worth more than 40, but not for him. He generally blows money on stupid stuff every trip.

We went Mini golfing afterward. Lots of laughs. Had lunch at at kitschy Green Bay restaurant (White Dog, Black Cat Cafe) on the only nice road in town (Broadway) and finished the day at a dud of an antique mall in Allouez that had some vendors selling outside of it.

Spent 125 on a giant vintage Bebop as my birthday splurge.
As opposed to all the crap I buy weekly anyway?
I guess I'll have to buy a Rocksteady next year.

Always bring your own bags.
I do at cons. I will have to remember this for my next toy-venture.

Next weekend I am heading to Chicagoland. We had a death in the family that altered the plan a bit as my buddy and I were going to hit the Voll Museum and Antique Mall on Fri, the Wheaton All Night Flea Market Sat and the Kane County "Chicago Toy Show" Sunday, but I have to hit a funeral Fri AM so we are smashing the antique mall visit into Sat AM and cancelling any other side quests to other comic shops and toy stores.

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur...er_Social-Wheaton_DuPage_County_Illinois.html Here's dinner at some point.

I sold my SNES system+games, N64 system+ Games, PS2 and 3 games, NES games and system, plus a bunch of random accessories for 1200 bucks this AM. I was happy to clear out space in the basement as I haven't played anything but Madden for many years.

My Yoshi's Island SNES box was semi rare and added a nice chunk of value to my lot. Most of my A-list games went to my cousin a few weeks ago. 700 dollars of value via Pricecharting there I sold to him at 50 percent off as the cousin discount.

I don't update this thread often, but I spent most weekends this summer on the hunt. Flea markets and cons will largely dry up over winter. It was 75 in Wisconsin today, so maybe we are just cancelling winter this year again. Go Global warming!!!! I used to Treat or Treat in snow boots.

Sunday Toy Show announcement: We are proud to announce we are at 1,050 Exhibitor Tables
Slight change of plans as we are going to hit 5 or 6 Comic shops and Toy shows Saturday before the Flea Market. Sunday will be the toy show and then the giant Antique mall in Volo if we have time, desire and money left over.

It's supposed to dip to 33 Saturday night. A week earlier the first forecast was lows in the 50s. I guess I'm not rocking shorts to the outdoor flea market.

Night one in Chicagoland (Fri) saw us make one stop for nerd junk at Graham Cracker Comics. My buddy bought a Harley Quinn comic box and a HQ plastic bank. They had some modern MOTU and TMNT stuff, but I own whatever I want of that so far and the prices were angling ebayish anyway. (Old minty comic books aren't my jam, but they were here in spades)
He did have a vintage 1977ish 6 Million Dollar Man Andre as Bigfoot figure but it was in his storage area and I only saw it when I was using his bathroom after a 4 hour car ride. Sitting in a dark hotel room at 6 am, I am now thinking I should have seen if the price was reasonable. I am in town with a 1000 bucks in cash for a weekend of stupid financial decisions.

We ate at the Burger Social in Wheaton. The menu looked great https://www.theburgersocial.com/ and it was in an upscale, trendy community. The front desk told us it would be an hour-90 min wait, unless we could find a spot at the bar. So we wandered the place and found a spot with no issue. Plus there were several tables with no one at them for the duration of our stay, so I don't know what that was all about. My buddy worked in food prep in the past and he said kitchens will declare a slow down if swamped.
The food...was ok. I picked the item with the most words I couldn't pronounce as I enjoy new flavors. So my spread was:

Naan Burger
8oz lamb patty, tandoori aioli, sweet + spicy tomato chutney, cucumber salad, queso fresco, arugula, garlic naan
CHICKEN + WAFFLES SHAKE $8
vanilla ice cream, waffle, maple syrup, topped w/ whipped cream, candied bacon, + a chicken tender
Duck Potstickers 16
duck confit, grilled pear, hoisin + orange glaze
and, as always with me....a Bloody Mary.....
So Dinner was 70 bucks!!!! So many toys I could have bought!!! Somebody think of the stonks!!

We got to our Ramada and it turns out our room was the first one in the place, right next to the pool, the breakfast and the front desk. That's about as good as it gets! BUT...the room is not upkept. The beds and such are fine (No blacklight plz) but the walls are missing chips of paint, the fan in the bathroom sounds like a bomb raid siren and the toilet is CRACKED!

We began our battle in 2 1/2 hours with a 40 mile round trip to hit 5 or 6 more comic and toy stops....then sometime after 3 we head to the Wheaton All Night Haunted Flea Market!!

I guess I didn't do a Saturday update. We did a round trip of Chicagoland 'burbs and hit at least 6 nerd shops, plus a mall that had multiple nerd shops. We got to the "Wheaton All night Flea market" as it opened and I guess it was a worthwhile experience to check off the list.
The setup itself was kind of unique as the city gave way to the rustic fairgrounds. The dirt pathway meant for farm animals ended with a giant parking ramp several stories high. Next to the fairgrounds is a building wrapped in fence and barbed wire... not for cows but an actual prison. I wasn't expecting that!
There was also an active railway blasting train cars through frequently in the backdrop of the grounds.
The food truck offerings were plentiful, but a stop at https://schnitzelplatz.com/ or another local eatery would have probably provided a better option. Is it even a real vacation meal without a Bloody Mary to down????
I was expecting to find a lot of trinkets of cats, horses, John Deere, etc for others as present stuffers for Xmas, but came away empty handed. There was some MOTU and other vintage stuff there, but nothing I needed or priced to "sell" in the long run.
We watched the Badgers blow it against Penn State back at the hotel that night and slept fast as we had an 8 am kickoff for the big "Chicago Toy Show". Hotel breakfast was at 7:30 and we had a 20 min drive or so, especially with my buddy behind the wheel who doesn't have a lead foot.
We got to the show after it opened for the first time ever (20 mins after opening!) We battled the thousands of others who were crowding the barns, aisles, and booths to capture a person grail....I am not sure if any true "deals" were going to be had unless you went to the hotel room sales Thurs/Fri and/or the 50 dollar special ticket where you got in both Sat and Sunday. The Saturday show was not open to the public, so you pay to get first dibs on everything as the vendors set up PLUS you avoid the walls of human meat that only got worse as the Sunday show went on.
So after plowing through the crowds and the multiple barns full of new and old stock, I spent in excess of 500 bucks at least via my rough mental estimate.
Part of the fun is talking nerd with the vendors and just gawking at the grails. Mego playsets in the box from the 70s, WWF banners and jackets from the Hulkamania era, MIB playsets of anything and everything and especially all the weird merch that a line like He-man came out with.

Got a tip this guy was sitting at the local Target and snagged him.

Kicked off the summer rummage sale/flea market hunts last weekend at a Retro Bar's overstock selling out of a garage. Biggest win for me out of the haul was a Baby Sinclair talking plush.

Flea Market next weekend. Comic Con at the end of the month. Rummage sales in between.

Went to a Comic Con in Oshkosh, Wisco today.... they had a MINE doll for sale. It had a tear in the back, but.....but..... dealer wanted 300 and admitted he paid 25 bucks for it. I really never considered buying it....but I thought it was super cool.

Last week, after visiting a Manitowoc flea market and 2 oversized rummage sales (including a vintage toy heavy one in a barn *vibes*) my cousin twisted my arm and we went to the area's (probably Wisconsin's) best vintage toy store in Sheboygan. Best score there was this thing, which I snagged for 55 bucks.
