Concerts coming to your area: Good and Bad

Whatever passes for Fear Factory these days (I think Dino is the only original member left) is playing a show in Brooklyn on the 20th. I might go. It's a tiny club and they're playing Demanufacture in full so it might be cool to see them in such an intimate venue.

I'm seeing Judas Priest and Alice Cooper the weekend after. I've seen Priest numerous times but never Alice.

I’m strongly considering seeing Priest and Alice (never seen Priest but I did see Halford open for Ozzy, seen Alice 3x or 4 if you count the time I saw the Hollywood Vampires) but I’ll probably go to the Bridgeport show, work permitting. Same amount of time driving but much less annoying drive and a nicer venue than PNC.

Oh man that ruled. Priest went first, surprisingly. They did five songs from Painkiller which is my favorite album of theirs. A Touch of Evil, Hell Patrol and the immortal title track all kicked so much ass and Halford still sounds awesome.

I saw Alice in May in Wilkes-Barre so the anticipation wasn't as high as I expected a shortened version of that set but I was wrong because he did a bunch of different stuff including DANGEROUS TONIGHT my favorite song from his hair metal period which he never played before not even when it was new but he played it tonight for me. Plus Spark in the Dark and House of Fire from Trash. And Brutal Planet which I heard once before but it was nice to hear it again. Totally worth the 100+ mile drive.

Yeah Priest have been closing the show on every date of the tour so far except this one. Im hoping they close on Friday. I'm a big Alice fan and am looking forward to seeing him before stuff from Trash other than Poison (disappointed hes not playing Clones) but my friends aren't big fans and they'll jusy complain about wanting to go home.

That was awesome. Alice was way more high energy than I expected. Highlights were House of Fire, Spark in the Dark, Feed My Frankenstein and Hey Stoopid.

Rush announced a reunion tour with a new drummer (a woman no less!). They're doing two nights at MSG next summer. I saw Rush in 2007 so I ticked that off my bucket list but depending on the price, I might be inclined to attend.

Got tickets to see Iron Maiden next year. They're playing in a soccer stadium and Megadeth and Anthrax are opening. This very well may be the last time I see Dave Mustaine live but more importantly it'll be the biggest venue I've seen Maiden in. Tickets were pretty pricey. Damn you, Ticketmaster!

I saw Bush last night in Bethlehem. Gavin does a lot of new stuff, which nobody wants to hear but I kinda respect it? Most rockers of his stature would just play the hits, and he did the big ones from Sixteen Stone, but they also did 9 or 10 songs from their last three albums. They weren’t particularly good songs but they were well-performed. And Gavin looks really good too - I know plastic surgery and PEDs are keeping these celebs young forever but it sure didn’t seem like I was watching a 60-year-old. Also I won $200 at the casino and got a free meal.

I was never a big Pussycat Dolls fan but I'm interested in their reunion tour for the opening lineup: Lil Kim and Mya.

I guess I can’t shit on the notion of being a 48-year-old Pussycat Doll after glazing Gavin Rossdale for his youthful looks a few weeks back. It does amuse me that they only got three of them but Nicole is the only one who matters.
