Some American beer drinkers are avoiding Corona, the beer, amid the deadly coronavirus outbreak, according to a new survey.

A surprising 38 percent of beer drinkers insisted that they would not, under any circumstances, buy Corona as the deadly virus spreads across the globe, according to the survey conducted by 5W Public Relations.

“There is no question that Corona beer is suffering because of the coronavirus,” Ronn Torossian, founder of 5WPR, said in a statement.

There is no known similarity between the beer and the virus — except for the name.

But Torossian explained how important the name was to the product’s branding.

“Could one imagine walking into a bar and saying ‘Hey, can I have a Corona?’ or ‘Pass me A Corona,’” he said.

There was a little thing of Purell on everybody's desk at work today and there was a stack of those Clorox disinfecting wipes very visible in our lunch area. How will that help our imminent and inevitable deaths? I'm awaiting the "if you feel sick stay the fuck home you idiot" e-mail reminder.

I also heard that some companies are cancelling all potential sale items in advance of expected runs on grocery stores.

the president is at one of his partisan rallies screaming about coronavirus being a democratic hoax

meanwhile his son is on tv screaming that democrats want millions to die "because they hate how much donald trump is winning"

Gonna be interesting to see how much quicker economic areas get impacted. Been reading the past few days that areas like New York & Los Angeles are anticipating steep(ish) drops in hotel revenue since a large part of their clientele is international. Also third party sites ala Booking.com, Expedia, etc. could be hit extra hard because the majority of their users are international travelers and those sites also often have 'non-cancelable' policies in relation to bookings that they would likely have to change due to expected cancellations or general date changes.

All it takes is another country or two to shut down travel out or inbound travel and the hotel industries also could see a fairly drastic shut down (nevermind the potential for a coronavirus infected traveler to infect a hotel's worth of people).

Before this inevitably makes it's rounds as a series of headlines, I just want to point out that the source is an anonymous social media account!

The panic tomorrow on Wall Street is going to be incredible. I hope everyone took their money out of the market for a while.

I read two deaths happened in Washington as just now the 2nd death was confirmed. Also Rhode Island has seen its first Coronavirus case.

"But more than 50 residents and staff at the facility are experiencing symptoms and will be tested for coronavirus, Duchin told reporters Saturday. Four new presumptive positive cases were detected Sunday, all of whom were residents of the Life Care Center, according to a press release from Seattle and King County Public Health."

Not saying it's still not a possibility but:

There were some reports from China claiming that people are ok to go back to work now. Only time will tell on that one.

I'm breaking out the "don't come into the gym if you are sick" and "wash your shit" speeches tonight.

I've been thinking of the possibility that baseball will have empty stadiums soon if this gets worse. I don't want to attend games while this is going around.
