It's funny how Weezer reinvented themselves as the "self-aware dad rock band that tries to hard". I love their first two albums, can tolerate a song or two from several records after but can't bring myself to listen to anything they've done in the past decade or so.
Not sure if anyone will listen. But I’ve always loved this version of Roky Erickson’s “I Had To Tell You.” It’s by a group called Poi Dog Pondering. I looked up some of their other music and it was totally not for me. But my dad played “Where the Pyramid Meets the Eye” Roky Erickson tribute album somewhat regularly on long ride and I heard this one a bunch. I recently found the cd while cleaning up in the basement. Probably my favorite tribute album.
Under 800 YouTube views for this song. Feels like a shame.
