Finally has a release date: May 15th. My wife bought the WoW annual pass thing so we'll get a free copy, meaning I get to play the game and at the same time not pay $60 for it which I didn't want to do because I'm mad about the online only bullshit. Hooray.

Nothing that I've heard. And at launch D3 won't have PVP. Or PVP arenas, or something. I don't PVP so that doesn't bother me.

Yeah, it's not that big a deal, although people have made it out to be. I'd rather have he game NOW NOW NOW.

Not like it's a big draw of Diablo in the past.

Yeah I've never been big on PvP, so I just want the game. Still not sold in the real money item market, its just going to encourage those Asian farmers [/racism], but oh well.

I was thinking about getting a new laptop for D3, but those requirements are a bit steep. The 2.8 gig processor and the video card kinda break the bank for a laptop, and I don't really have a convenient spot for a tower. Conundrum.

What would be your budget for a laptop? You can get something pretty decent without breaking the bank.

Plus, it's Blizzard and Diablo, it should run pretty well on just about anything.

Eh, the video card requirements aren't actually as bad as I thought, its the processor (2.4 Pentium, 2.8 AMD) that is harder to find on a reasonably priced laptop. I actually found an Acer that seems like a pretty good deal, was going to see what some of the more tech minded posters thought.

Started up a Barbarian and a Wizard, so far so good. Thank god for the Wizard having auto recovering mana this time.

One hiccup, tried to play today and it said there was a temporary outage in the Battle.net service. That's a-ok for the Beta, that shit happens even once in the full game where I can't play my single player game because of fucking battle.net being down and it's rage time.

I like what I see so far. Though I hope the lag I am getting is due to stress testing.. Its like point, click, wait 15 seconds, then move.

Bumping the thread in honor of imminent release. Also, woo! Got my shipping confirmation email from Best Buy instead of the "too many preorders, you're boned" I've been afraid of. Collector's Edition probably won't get here until Tuesday afternoon, but I can live with that.

I started downloading it before I left the apartment this morning, so I should be able to go right away on Tuesday. Not that I'll have much time to play until that weekend, but it'll be nice to start when I get home from work Tuesday.

I should have gotten the Collectors Edition sooner. Blah.

Blizzard forums are awash in "cancelled preorder" stories. CEs must be really hard to find, although I only ordered mine a month or so ago. Amazon's were gone in like a half hour when they put them on the site a couple of days ago. Not a bad set of extras, plus like I've said before I'm usually a sucker for CEs, I don't know why.

Unfortunately my delivery date has been changed to Wednesday, so I'll miss the opening day rush of dropped connections and overloaded servers. Oh well, I'll just have to look at my guide and dream.

Even if I get games the day or a day before release it still takes me around a week or two before I actually play it.

And in some cases a few months.

Aside from the servers being down the first time i tried to play (which i'll live with on launch day but better not happen again), this is really good. Clicking hordes of demons to death is still as fun as it ever was.

Well, I guess that's better than error 3006?

Game Breaking Bug Discovered in Diablo III
Players are reporting a game breaking bug in newly released Diablo III. The bug kicks players off Diablo III servers, bringing up an Error 3006 message.

The bug is triggered when players interact with the Templar follower early in the game, equipping the Templar with a shield.

Players on Blizzard's Diablo III forums are reporting the bug; likewise, players on website Eurogamer apparently are, too. The error seems to be specific to the Demon Hunter class.

Blizzard, the game's developer, has yet to release a fix. Online, players are recommending that you do not equip the Templar with said shield prior to accepting him as a follower.

"Don't trade your equipped shield with the Templar," wrote Diablo III player Laurelin. "The game boots you out, and you can't log back until Blizzard notices and fixes this issue."

Stay tuned.

And by that I mean after playing for an hour and a half or so I got booted from my game and can't play now, it kept saying due to 'party state' or some bullshit. Of course I was playing single player so I don't know what it means. But then I tried to create a new character (named EThirtySeven) and nope. Force crash the game, go back, can't connect to server. THIS IS WHY WE BITCHED ABOUT THE ALWAYS ON THING YOU FUCKING CUNTS. I'M PLAYING SINGLE PLAYER I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT MULTIPLAYER OR THE REAL MONEY AUCTION HOUSE.

"Diablo ‏ @Diablo
We're aware players may not be able to connect to the Americas region, or are having difficulty stay in-game. We are investigating."

Oh you're fucking investigating? How about you investigate how not to fuck the customer in the ass?

Blizzard posted a link on twitter to a post with a status update...except that post was on the D3 forums which they took down when they took down the game server.
