Throw Blizzard in an oven.

Best case scenario, this blows up in their face so badly that no one tries this 'must be online to play' shit again, and we get a whole bunch of entertaining memes out of it.

That, or they keep 'investigating' while swimming in their Scrooge McDuck money vaults. Enough people quit in frustration and the servers will be fine eventually.

While I'm glad the 'always online' thing has blown up in someones face I would have preferred it wasn't Blizzard.

I prefer it be Blizzard because they will likely survive this. Pick another company and they might not.

Seriously, stupid idea.

I find it funny people bitch about the Always-On DRM, but they all still bought the game knowing this. It's Day 1 of launch, with MILLIONS of other people trying to play at the same time. Give it a week and I bet these server issues will go away. Don't give me the whole "I wanna play single player!!!!" shit either because unless you are dense, you all knew about the DRM before you spent 60 bucks. Don't like it? Play another game, Blizzard doesn't want your money.

People bought the game because they want to play Diablo 3, and the always-on DRM is the only option. Yes, they knew it was going to be like that, but that doesn't mean you have to like it. The 'it just came out it'll settle down' argument works on an MMO. It doesn't on a single player game that would function just fine offline. If you want to sell software as a service, you have to provide the fucking service.

Also, I in fact did not spend $60 on this game. Despite really wanting to play it I decided I wasn't going to spend the money because of the bullshit DRM. But we got it free because of my wife's one year WoW subscription, so I thought I'd get to have my cake and eat it too. Sadly it turned out that the cake is a lie and is actually a lemon, and now I have to burn Blizzard's house down.

Hahaha, honestly I understand why you are upset, and you have a right to be. They screwed up and weren't ready for the user load on their servers, but it will get fixed, and the game will be great. I did not purchase the game yet because I anticipated this crap. Diablo 3 IS an online game, just not Massively Multiplayer. That is how it was advertised from the beginning.

But it SHOULDN'T be an online only game. At it's heart it's a single player campaign. Yes there's multiplayer, and yes lots of people enjoy it, but plenty of people played D1 and D2 without ever playing multiplayer, and plenty of people will do the same with D3. They didn't make some massive changes to the game play that make it more of a multiplayer game. It's still the same core gameplay that we played offline a decade ago.

They did implement a very large change in this game, making it an Online game. You, and many other people, may not like it, but the Auction House is the main reason for this change. They saw people making profits off their game, and decided they could 1. stop that from happening, and 2. make more money for themselves. Can't blame them for that when the VAST MAJORITY of people who played(play) Diablo 2 did so for the treasure hunting and PVP aspects of the game. The minority is the people who just play the game for the story. Look at Diablo 2 servers even now, full of people constantly doing MF runs and trading items. That's where the money is for Blizzard. I think they could give two shits about the people who just want to play this alone, and they already made a fortune doing it their way.

I'm lagging like crazy right now in a fucking single player game rabble rabble rabble. This is ridiculous. I see some monster, spam my left and right click attacks. Then we all just stand around like retards for fifteen seconds then BLAM BLAM BLAM all the attacks go through and the monsters are magically dead and I'm at half health. Constant connection blows my ass.

The fight with the skeleton king was a fucking bitch with the lag, let me tell you. Pretty sure this lag was on Blizzard's end, but with my flakey internet connection I expect plenty of lag caused from my end in the future. Grumble grumble bullshit grumble.

When I can play the game and I'm not waiting 15 seconds between clicks though I'm enjoying it so far. I've quickly fallen back into 'just one more dungeon and then I'll go to bed...ok well just ONE more checkpoint...well fuck I need to see what happens just next but then I'm done!' mode.

The first people in the world to beat the game was some Korean guild yesterday who did it in like 5 hours...and they didn't get their item drops thanks to server issues. I'm sure they were just THRILLED about that.

With all the server issues and having to connect from Australia to America to play the game i was expecting the lag to be anywhere from annoying to unplayable, but for me it's generally been quite good. Minor lag at times but i'll take that over the problems most people still seem to be having with it.

I can't believe single player game lag is a thing.

Got it in via UPS yesterday about 5 PM local time, installed it, and had no problems logging in and running through act 1 apart from a server reset at about 8:30 and some very minor lag at a couple of spots. My dual wielding barb had no problems with act 1, including the boss fights. Hope the difficulty curve catches up to him. I am kinda glad you have to pay for storage space and to train your artisans. By the end of D2 I had so much gold piled up on the ground everywhere I ended up losing a ton when I had to quit. Glad I get to do something with it.

Just because you keep saying that doesn't make it true. Just because Blizzard wants us to believe that doesn't make it true.

Cracked article on Diablo 3 noted something I didn't know yet, that you can't have profanities in a character name. What a load of ERROR 316002. If I want to name a barbarian FuckShitUp then I should be able to, because I won't be playing with anyone else who would see that name. I'm sure I had plenty of D1 and 2 characters with immature swearword names.

Also, I apparently need to fuddle with the options when I get home to make sure I have it set so people on my wife's friends list can't join my game, since apparently it's the default that they can? Rabble rabble rabble.

And now it appears there's a mild wave of accounts being hacked, even if they have an authenticator, and the hackers taking all their gold and items. Boy it sure is a good thing you have to be connected to their server at all time even when playing single player so that your account is secure oh wait.

Anyway, I beat D3 on Saturday. Epic final boss battle, and I thought the last two acts were really great over all. Lots of plot shit going on that kept me interested in between the clickclickclickclickclickclickclick. Now that I've rushed through the game I plan to slow down and play more leisurely. I want to try the other classes, and hopefully play through the next difficulty with my wizard (level 31 when I beat it.) Though I've heard the harder difficulties are really tough without playing in a group, so if I reach a point where I can't progress anymore solo I guess that's the end of that. But still, besides the always connected horseshit, as a game I really like Diablo 3 and would recommend it to others if not for the bullshit DRM. Otherwise though, great game.

I marked the fuck out for the return of the butcher at the end of Act 1. FRESH MEAT. VEGETABLE BAD, MEAT GOOD!

Damn, lost my hardcore Barbarian tonight, was doing great on him to, got him to lvl 29 was in Act III when I got to a dungeon that had these...not sure what they were called, best way I can describe em is they looked like Slimer from Ghostbusters, they come at you and explode on contact, well I had about 10 of em come at me at once and boom, dead.

Playing with 250 - 350 latency (at the best of times) is actually not that bad.

I suck with names, so who exactly is Lo Pan again?

Bad guy from Big Trouble in Little China, HEATHEN! Yeah, he's the voice of Covetous Shen (which is itself kind of another reference to BTiLC, since his counterpart in the movie was named Egg Shen). Took me a while to place him, I kept going back and forth on if I thought it was him. The way he said some of his dialogue convinced me.

So I started a demon hunter to mess around with while Blizzard figures out how to make barbarians playable without going bankrupt at the AH, and I must say she's a lot of fun to play. Her acrobatics can get you out of a lot of trouble, and her offense is brutal. Dual wielding crossbows then going with Strafe or Rapid Fire can wipe out waves of enemies quickly. Plus it makes kiting those stupid ass molten, chained, and Arcane enemies a lot easier.
