Good news everyone: I finally managed to check out on gamestop and buy a code, meaning the Ebay one should now drop to $22!

Dang, the Zelda 3DS XL I'm getting was apparently on sale for $150 at Target but I'm not going to even attempt to flag one down now. My sanity is worth more than $60.

This site has pay-what-you-want for Papo & Yo. It's only Steam keys, and you have to pay $1+ for that. Beat the average ($1.25) to also receive the soundtrack. And there's some other tiers on top of that. Ends at midnight EST tonight.

Amazon.com's digital PC games sale has kicked off. Here's a reddit thread about it:
http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/1t8ht1/amazon_digital_holiday_sale_has_arrived_2_aliens/

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is $20 as a pre-order/initial offering deal; it's scheduled to come out January 9th, according to the store page. System requirements are a little steep; minimum CPU says an i5-2400, which is pretty heavy.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is $1.99 and you get a $5 coupon from amazon for any digital purchase right now so you're basically getting paid $3 to take that game, heh

Re: Gaming Deals & Steals 2013

It's mentioned in the other thread, but The Wolf Among Us Episode 1 is currently free on Xbox 360. Also some good deals on Popcap games for today, and various other stuff for the week.

http://majornelson.com/2013/12/23/countdown-to-2014-daily-deals-week-2-begins/

I've written off buying on XBL recently, so I'd forgotten they do this sort of thing around the end of the year.

Re: Gaming Deals & Steals 2013

Something that's not listed on Major Nelson or the Xbox.com sale pages: In addition to Episode 1 of The Wolf Among Us being free, the Season Pass for Episodes 2-5 is $10.04--down from the usual $14.99. (I can't remember if I saw it posted somewhere or noticed it myself. Oh well.)

http://marketplace.xbox.com/Product/The-Wolf-Among-Us/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258411216

I've been wanting to get this on PC; best price I've seen is about $17USD. Now Xbox comes along and actually makes a compelling option based on price... which is a strange reversal.

And The Walking Dead: Season Two is $15 for the full season on PSN to boot. Weird, man.

Re: Gaming Deals & Steals 2013

With the success of TF2 & DotA2, I wonder if/how they'd turn Left 4 Dead 2 into the same free-to-play model. Or if they'd try to do the same for a sequel.

Re: Gaming Deals & Steals 2013

Looks like recent Nvidia cards come with codes for Assassins Creed IV and Splinter Cell Blacklist and a good amount of people are selling these codes on ebay, I've been watching a few and they seem to end up averaging around $20-30 total for both games.

I happened to get such a code, but I don't really want to use Uplay (or play either game at the moment), so I've been trying to see if anyone wants to trade for something.

Re: Gaming Deals & Steals 2013

What exactly is the problem with Uplay on PCs? I've heard a loott of complaints about it.

But not sure why. Because as far as consoles go, I love the whole Uplay system. And the little free things you get from those Uplay points you've earned from other Ubi games. And it tracking my stuff all the way back to like AC1 across every console. It's always seemed pretty cool to me. But I'm guessing it's something completely different with PC games?

Re: Gaming Deals & Steals 2013

When it debuted, if the Uplay server went down, so did the game. Big server hits (like when a new game came out) could take down the server.

Meanwhile PC had cracks release (in some cases before the game released) that removed the requirement, so people who bought the game couldn't play it while people who pirated it could.

Re: Gaming Deals & Steals 2013

For me, it's another account to keep track of, another potential point of failure--basically, another hassle. I don't particularly like that I have to use Steam if I want to play PC games, but given that it offers useful services, and actually works the majority of the time, I'm sort of OK with it.

I also have some degree of trust in Valve to not fuck around with me as a customer, which isn't the case with the likes of Ubisoft or EA (re: Origin).

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons for Windows PC is currently $7.49 on Amazon.com, and is eligible for the $5 Editors' Choice promo, bringing it down to $2.49. If you bought a digital game from Amazon in December, you should have received an e-mail a few days ago titled "Your Amazon.com Promotional Credit". That's where the $5 off comes from.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FQPQGSY?tag=electronicfro-20

If you don't have a credit, it's currently the same price on Steam, or will be free later this month on PS3 with PS+.

Don't Starve (PS4) and DmC (PS3) are now free with PS+ in US/Canada.

Humble Indie Bundle 10 is now available. Apparently they had a limited $10 bundle including Starbound, which sold out almost immediately. The average price is a bit high as a result. Might be worthwhile to wait a bit for it to come down.

BioShock Infinite is also on that list and is currently on sale for $13.20, so $8.20 with the $5 off. I have 2 of the credits so I will be grabbing both :D
