Tonight was a big night for me... It was the first time I played a song perfectly.

If you buy Guitar Hero 5 in September, you can get Guitar Hero: Van Halen for free before it's even released. You get a code with the Guitar Hero 5 game and you enter it on this website and they mail it to you before it comes out in December. Sounds like a damn good deal.

Guitar Hero 5 for the Wii and 360 was leaked a few days ago. It's fun, but after being crazy about the last four and the side games, I just can't get excited about this one.

Eh, I picked up Guitar Hero World Tour with the Slider Controller on clearance at Target today for $22. Works for me. I'll wait on this new one.

I can't wait to pick up Metallica, Smash Hits & GH5 when I get paid for the first time at the end of the month. I'll pick up Van Halen and Rock Band: Beatles in November too. Smash Hits is great for me because the only GH games i've ever played are GH: Aerosmith and WT, which I don't believe feature on Smash Hits.

If you plan on getting GH 5 and also want GH Van Halen the do try to take advantage of the offer to get the latter for free when you buy GH 5. If you get your money at the end of the month you have just enough time to buy the game and redeem the offer on the GH website until October 1st.

Picked up GH5 today. The tracklist was just too strong for me to hold out. It's pretty fun so far, but the "bonus" star system throws me off... I mess up regular notes trying to get the bonus stars. I still only have the guitar so the game isn't as fun as it would be if I had bothered to pick up GH:WT.

Although I am pretty psyched about getting GH:VH for free. I love Van Halen.

Friend and I played RB: Beatles for a while last night, and it's a lot of fun for a Beatles fan such as myself. The only problems I had was that it's occassionally hard to see the notes (softer colors of the notes + base groove + Overdrive [Beatlemania in this] = REAL little visibility) and the background setups for the later songs when the Beatles became a studio band were REAL distracting, but in a "Wow that's cool" sort of way instead of a "that's annoying as fuck" sort of way. "Yellow Submarine" and "I Am the Walrus" spring to mind, although there was one other song that had a shitload of bright colors that made it hard to focus. All in all it's a lot of fun to play and I recommend it.

I fucking HATE when they put so many fucking designs on the fret of the guitar that it's fucking impossible to see the notes (GH: Aerosmith I'm looking at you). That fucks me up.

So is the "Buy GH 5 get GH Van Halen free" promotion, good no matter where you buy GH 5? I am probably picking up GH 5 tomorrow from Gamestop.

Am I the only one who is burned out on these kinds of games?
My friends play Rock Band at parties and I fucking hate it. Buncha dorks, sitting around tapping on fake instruments instead of actually drinking/socializing with each other. Luckily these same friends also have a ping pong table downstairs and I can find a willing opponent. But yes, I never owned any of these games (find it difficult to shell out $200 for something I'd just play by myself and get sick of in a couple months) and their existence at parties is really annoying.

How the fuck is drinking any better or worse than playing Rockband?

"Stop playing Rockband, you could be getting drunk! Woooo!"

Come on.

I thought the drinking and playing Rock Band went hand in hand. I've been doing both at parties since the very first Guitar Hero game. And how the heck is ping pong any more social an activity than RB/GH?

It's impossible to put into words, but there are few things in the world of digital entertainment that can bring a group together as much as hitting a groove as a full band on a RB/GH game, especially after a couple drinks (or some weed).

Yeah, there's a card inside the box for it. I think it's good for a few more weeks.

I think you have to enter the online part tonight before midnight. Then you have to send in the sticker on the wrapper, a copy of your receipt, and the confirmation form they email you.

also.. WOOHOO! Bought GH: 5 tonight. I'm psyched to play it and I'm also psyched to get GH: Van Halen in the mail.

Just started playing and wwoooooooowwww. The setup is very different. The notes rotate and are shiny and shit.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Playing "Do You Feel Like We Do? (Live)" is worth the $60 itself. I was marking out so fucking hard while playing that I almost broke my guitar with the whammy bar. I fucking love that song.

Guys help me out. I am going to buy either GH5 or GH: Metallica tomorrow. What would you say was the better option?

Both. I plan on buying GH: Metallica soon. You should have bought GH:5 a couple days ago so you could get GH: Van Halen free before it hits the shelves.

I don't think the option was available to English people. I will be getting both but I don't get paid until the last day of the month so I don't want to risk having no money at all. I've looked at the set list for both and they both look pretty damn awesome.

Ah yeah. That sucks. If I didnt have the option of getting GH: Van Halen for free if I bought it when I did, I probably would have went with GH: Metallica cause I'm a huge Metallica fan.

I'll just decide when I get to town. I haven't agonised over a game choice in years.

The offer here was Pre-Order GH5 and get World Tour free.
