4 months in and I'm at
75 books (234 last year)
335.5 page avg (283 page last year)
Haven't read many graphic novels this year as of yet compared to what I usually do so that's keeping the page number up.

After 8 months
218 books (16 to go, I think I can manage that!)
292 page average (started reading a lot more comics so that is why the average is dipping again)

Finished up Stephen King's You Like It Darker. There was 1 story I wasn't that into but I mostly enjoyed all of them with a couple standing out for me. Worth checking out if you're into his writing or enjoy his short story collections.

I highly recommend that book to anyone that would like to take a glimpse at what southern West Virginia—an already embattled region of true Appalachia—had to face with big pharma and the opioids crisis. I know multiple people in this book.

Also, the next Governor of West Virginia, Patrick Morrissey, is prominently featured in the book. He is possibly worse than any Governor we have had in my lifetime, and the uninformed/supermajority party line voters have not even elected him yet.

@Dandy the author mentions that he wrote a story about a state senate candidate who was a pro wrestler who he exposed for making "lewd comments" on a message board. Do you know anything about this?

Yes. It was a local (Charleston, WV area), indy/outlaw mud show type of wrestling fed.

You can also Google “joshua martin wv senate” and find multiple articles about other dumb shit for him and his opponent.

that whole article is hilarious.

I finished the book. really good read. Not a lot of surprises about either the industry or how WV responded to it, but the personal touches were very good. I'd recommend it to others.

@tekcop
"In 2018, a powerful app for secure communications called Anom took root among organized criminals. They believed Anom allowed them to conduct business in the shadows. Except for one thing: it was secretly run by the FBI."

This made me think of your app and what I was joking about the other night lol.

Second reading update of the year!:
113 books (last year 337 total)
309.5 page average (282 page avg last year)

Much slower pace this year but I was way up last year than usual. I also usually do a big catchup on comics near the end of the year.
