Bill Clinton, who I think should certainly have to answer questions just like anyone else implied in this, is about to be held in contempt of Congress for not testifying before the House Oversight committee.
While yes, testify because you're Slick Willie and can turn this shit back on people, it's also infuriating that Republicans would rather do the performative thing to hurt the other party rather than demand more releases and information. Something like that could have been easily done but no, the Right refuses.
Way past that 30 day requirement, for all of you who kept telling me I was just being needlessly pessimistic.
We're beyond "oh, bad thing done means consequences" territory. There will be none, for anyone. People who thought this was going to be some fucking magic bullet that would blow through the dome of the administration were mindless. Nothing in my life has ever shown that wealthy and powerful people suffer consequences for wrongdoing.
But please, tell me how all of this somehow makes the midterms look good for the future of US democracy.
