Welcoming our new insect overlords
Something I never really thought about with Vander Meer. He threw those no-hitters very early in his career. He was 23, the second one improved his career Win/loss record to 10-7. In today's climate you could imagine what that would do to his hype. Vander Meer had a decent career. 119 wins, four All Star appearances, led the league in strikeouts three times. WWII cost him somewhere between 20-35 more wins. He one-hit the Phillies in 1941. But maybe it's a bit surprising that he never had another no-hitter.
