Its less of a shooter thats for sure. Instead of Thermo Clips you equip thermal something or other to the guns that extend the cool down, later into the game its possible to get the gun to never overheat thusly : infinate ammo.

Armour is found during missions and instead of it being "change the look for bonus's" they are full pieces of armour with different styles and uneditable colours etc for ALL squadmates.

The game is truely a sci fi RPG where as the sequals where more 3rd person shooters with quests.

That's accurate. I finished 1 and moved in to 2 and immediately was struck by how abrupt the transition was from RPG to shooter.

Yep, you can see my bitching about that in the ME2 thread. You'll get used to the new characters and stories and learn to like them just as much, though.

I think this is pretty accurate. I started it last night and am already 4 hours in. I miss the RPG parts but the combat is fast/fun. The only thing that's driving me insane is the lack of maps. I like to explore every nook and cranny (RPG habit) so not having a map is taking getting used to.

I still can't get over the attention to detail.

I had Tali run through the vents in the suicide mission in ME2. In the Dreadnought on ME3, it was referenced. I'm just surprised that that small of a detail was saved.

Also, that same mission, Ashley, who I romanced in ME1 was my squadmate. Tali is required, and I romanced her in ME2. There's some real fun awkward dialogue that results. Especially since I'm trying to go back with Ash and Tali doesn't fucking get it yet.

Yeah, I can't understand going with Ashley over Tali. Then again, I've regretted picking Ashley over Kaiden back in ME1 for years. I have no idea why I thought I needed two soldiers instead of the more versatile Kaiden.

Because Kaiden is a bitch.

Has anyone read about the possibly leaked DLC?

I'm guessing AP is referring to the fake stuff that showed up on 4chan--the "Terminator" DLC? I don't think it's very likely, because it sounds ridiculous, among other concerns.

Kaidan is one of the best squadmates in ME3, far superior to Ashley. Barrier makes him a potential tank, he has overload for shields and barriers, and he has reave, which is still probably the best power in the ME universe.

In amusing ending protest news, fans have placed an order to send $1000 worth of identical vanilla cupcakes to Bioware's office in Edmonton. The cupcakes are all the same, except the icing is red, blue, or green. Mildly brilliant, that.

Some of the comments on the Kotaku thread are pretty funny. "The sprinkles are already in the package but you need to pay $10 to eat them", etc. etc.

BioWare got over the cupcake fad before it started.

Brilliant move on the part of the protesters. That Javik dig is golden and I wish it was included on a card with the delivery.

Cupcake update: Bioware noted the cupcakes, but re-gifted them to a kids' organization in Edmonton instead of accepting them themselves.

So...instead of choosing from one of three cupcakes, they picked a fourth, better option. The irony is pleasantly thick here.

I'm really enjoying everything that is springing up around the ending. Marauder Shields is great.

Just finished the game a little bit ago...

I had stayed away from any and all spoilers related to Mass Effect so I had no idea about
The Indoctrination Theory. Just spent about a hour reading/watching videos, and it Boggles My Mind! I had heard about people hating the ending, and knew there was a video titled "Why we hate the ME3 ending"...but after beating the game, my initial reaction was...THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME. Lol.

Although now, after reading a lot of theories I'm not so confident in my decision. :( Fuck you Internet! I decided to go with SYNTHESIS. And as I read the theories, that would indicate that I failed, and I succumb to the indoctrination process. Is it weird that I really based my whole decision around Joker and EDI? I played full Paragon, so I obviously wasn't going to control the reapers. But with the Destroy choice, I've worked my ass off to make EDI into what was essentially human, and Joker was actually getting some booty! Not mention turning the Geth into a non-hostile race who was actually helping the Quarians, so while that choice would have 'destroyed the reapers'...I didn't want to destroy all those other synthetics who helped me along the way. Synthesis seemed like the 'Perfect Ending' to me. And when you see the final scene with Joker/EDI standing on the planet, which is exactly what I wanted, not to mention Cyber Joker, which I would think means his disorder should be healed...I actually really enjoyed how it all turned out.

Hell, I still think Synthesis is "Good." None of my squad dies, Reapers got what they wanted so they're not going to attempt to destroy the world again, Organics are stronger and now everyone can be superhuman like Cyber Shepard, as well as Synthetics getting a chance to live a 'human life'...Sounds pretty sweet to me. Holy shit, I'm indoctrinated!

Not really all that great. With the Relays destroyed that entire gigantic fleet you assembled is stuck around Earth, a planet that definitely can't support that many beings anymore and definitely can't grow special food for Turians or Krogans. Sure, they could try and make it back home, but without the relays just getting back to Tuchanka or Palaven would take forever. The only beings that would survive, ironically, are the Geth.

I picked Synthesis too, as it seemed like the 'right' choice. Ending is 90% the same regardless of the choice you make, sadly.

One fuck up I noticed in all three endings, as I made a save and tried each one, was that...

i had Tali with me on Earth during the final run to the "beam" yet she was with Joker, stepping off of the Normandy, in all three endings. Bizarre that she was somehow able to get picked up after we had our asses greased by Harbinger's laser of death.

But they're no longer completely organic. What I'm thinking is that they're essentially android, and basically would no longer need food. The only problem I feel like they would encounter is overpopulation, but considering half the galaxy was just wiped out in this fight. (Well, the fleets that were stranded on Earth anyway.) I don't think it would be that big of a problem. They would just have to recolonize and populate Earth.

Of course, this would probably restart all of the preceding wars, just this time on Earth...but if that would ever happen you'd think the Reaper/Cybernetic influence would just put a stop to it, leaving you with some kind of weird, Sci Fi, Police state, Utopia.

Just because they're all a bit synthetic doesn't mean
a) They don't need food. Pretty sure Shep still had to eat, otherwise someone would have mentioned it. Dude still drank. Btw, go pound back a few shots at the club on the Citadel. It's somewhat amusing.
b) That the new breeds would be peaceful. The Geth were synthetic and fought the Reapers, as well as fighting amongst themselves with the heretics. I'm guessing the fast breeding races, like the Krogan and Rachnii, would really butt heads with the rest.

That's something, at least. It won't fix how the war assets are tremendously underused, and Bioware are still jerks for releasing an unfinished game, but at least all the pressure forced them to put their efforts towards free content instead of paid.

Hmm isnt the summer a bit soon for ending DLC to be made and implemented. Me feels its been on the cards for a while, possibly using the fans reactions to guage what way to go with it.

That's entirely possible. I'm sure they have some unused art assets and cutscene shells that will help out. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the new cutscenes have no dialogue and the expansion is just a bunch of epilogue cards like at the end of Dragon Age. That, of course, would be the option most worthy of eye rolling.
