I think the fucked up courts are also a major ratings killing eye sore.
Meh. I've been on record for over thirty years with my belief that the three-point shot is the worst thing ever to happen to the NBA, but I'm not willing to cosign this. I feel like you could ask ten people why "ratings are down" in the NBA and get seven different answers. It appears to be human nature to attribute any negative action that happens to a thing to a direct consequence of whatever aspect or trait you personally don't like about that thing. You think they shoot too many threes? Well, clearly that's why the ratings are down. Think that they don't play enough defense? That's why the ratings are really down. Think the players are too "woke"? That must be why the ratings are down. Too many star calls? Well, actually, that's why the ratings are down. Players don't take the regular season seriously? Oh, I guess that's why the ratings are down.Gee, I wonder why ratings are down. Something has to be done. The everyone just shoots 3's approach of the game has made it not much fun to watch for me. It seems worse than ever this season. I've barely been paying attention to Bulls games for weeks now because it's obvious they are gonna just jack threes and hope to win that way.
I haven't really cared for the change of the game over the last decade or so and some of Silver's rule changes and ideas aren't my thing. I honestly preferred David Stern to Adam Silver at this point.
With the pitch clock and the speed increasing in the game, Baseball has been much more fun to watch than NBA for at least two years now imo. And the major superstars in baseball are more intriguing and dynamic than the big dawgs of the NBA for me. Ohtani going for 50/50 is way more incredible than someone hitting 18 threes in a game or whatever record will be broken this year.
I didn't mean anything by what I said. Just that, the 3 pointers is making me not want to watch the sport. There's a bunch of factors. The officiating really has done a number for a lot of fans. The slowing the game down with fouling and video reviews as well. I think letting 20 teams have a shot in the playoffs dilutes the game and many others agree. And, the stars imo just aren't that interesting, and there aren't as many loud personalities as there were in the past like Jordan, Kobe, Barkley, Shaq, Rodman, etc. They are all mostly chill and the ones that try to be competitive like Ant are kind of cornball. It feels like Steph, LeBron, and KD are among the most important players still. It's also really hard for fans of some teams to watch the games legally compared to NFL. I've been sailing the seas for Bulls games because this stupid Chicago Sports Network that no one can get.Of course there are multiple reasons the ratings are down, that doesn't mean that one thing doesn't have more of an effect that others.
I like 3pointers and I think it's having more of a negative than positive effect right now. It's too easy. They need to move the line further back. The best players will still be making shots and it will be impressive and challenging again. They also need to do less video reviews and coach's challenge shit at the end of games because it turns it into a slog.
Cool. Y'all got it.Of course there are multiple reasons the ratings are down, that doesn't mean that one thing doesn't have more of an effect that others.

It was addressed to Slim. You can think what you want man.I didn't mean anything by what I said. Just that, the 3 pointers is making me not want to watch the sport. There's a bunch of factors. Ratings are down 28% on ESPN and 48% since 2012 in general. NBA will be okay obviously, but they are in a transition point between that next LeBron/Kobe/MJ face of the NBA megastar to carry the brand.
Time's change. The game has to keep up with the athletes or it becomes irrelevant. If the fans want to disrespect the GOAT's that on them.Making the line further back seems crazy, also it will just make modern day fans disrespect the old dawgs even more than they do now.
Those fields never had arbitrary points given based on how far away the shot was though. The three point line is arbitrary. It should be set wherever it is needed to be for a certain percentage of shots to go in or not.Soccer and football fields have been the same for like a hundred years, changing the field itself sounds like gimmicky bullshit
I can tell you that mine is not and I love me some Kat Dennings.Saw a commercial for a new ABC sitcom while watching the final of the "We Gettin' Arab Money" Cup, and now I guess I'm about to find out whether or not my infatuation with Kat Dennings is greater than my dislike of Tim Allen.
I heard that he may execute his $50+ Million player option for next year only to try & force a trade.Jimmy Butler just got suspended by the Heat for 7 games as they look to explore trades.
Looks like it’s going to be an ugly breakup between Jimmy and Pat…
