As far as us playing each other, I figure we can use this first year to recruit and get familiar with our teams. The second year I can set it up so that we're playing each of us if not maybe just one other. So that we we are playing against one another on a regular to semi-regular basis.

Also with us being in different conferences it gives each of us a higher shot at making bigger bowl games.

Just a heads up I sent you a Friend request earlier on live.

On second thought, I am going to pass up the Fresno State idea and join a BCS conference because of the lack of conference invites in online dynasty, which kinda ruins all the fun of the possibility of having Fresno State invited to the Pac 10.

I am gonna take Texas Tech.

Well, as soon as CV joins up and readies up, I guess we'll start. I left pretty much everything unchanged save for gameplay diff (which I put at All-American). We'll see how the season goes (or even half a season) and if its warranted, I'll use whichever set of sliders is deemed to be the "best" for use.

Anyone else interested in joining can let me know and I'll send you the invite.

BTW, I don't want to say its a "requirement" but if people will try to use the dynasty website to post little mock stories and what-not about their season, it'd be appreciated.

fuck washington. i led 10-0, then 10-7 on a 4th down conversion TD, and then with 30 seconds left and no timeouts they run a fuckin draw and doesn't Polk just break through 5 tacklers & go 80 yards for the gamewinner.

Still no luck on the recruiting front, but I must say it is certainly more interesting than in recent years. Wouldn't say more fun just yet, but watching the recruit pick what topic to talk about and deciding what to do with it livens up the process substantially.

Now if only they'd fix the right stick lag in player profile changing (i.e. when you're in a player profile you can hit up or down on the right stick to scroll through the potential recruits, but it's so laggy it's actually faster to exit out of one recruit's page to the previous screen and scroll down from there & open the next guy's page).

I can not believe what I pulled off. I'm fiddling around with schools because I was double checking the sliders for the PS3 Dynasty League and just now had the most awesome game ever and also found out that I'm great with Pro style offense in NCAA.

I'm playing against Boston College which is B/B+/B-. I took them on with Tulane's D/C-/C-.

My first quarter started off really rough, when I called for a 15 yard penalty. Killed my returner's run, but I continued on with it. Kept chugging along, slowly and carefully down the field before scoring the very first TD with 4:26 left in the half. While my defense did everything they could they still managed to make it all the way down the field and score, putting me on the defensive by getting a TD with 1:43 left in the quart.

The second quarter I kept my little offense chugging along. Nothing really spectacular, but at the 7:17 mark, I managed to put myself up again, now 14-7. Here comes BC just chugging along down the field again and I'm doing really well at holding them off, only big thing that happened was a 23 yard pass, so we're all tied up at 14. With 5:10 left in the quarter, I tried getting the ball going, but eventually failed on my drive, and the ball back to BC who come roaring down the field, but I managed to hold them off with 1:33 left for a field goal so I'm down only 17-14.

I figured I could at least salvage a field goal out of this last drive of the half and bring things back to par, and suddenly I got on fire. Throwing some really good balls pretty well before capping it off with another TD and put myself up 21-17. I was thinking that perhaps I could actually start pulling away, because I was doing that well offensively, if I could just shore up the defense.

That didn't happen in the third quarter. I managed to put them in 3rd and long, but then proceed to give them a free pass to the end with a few easy passes putting me down 24-21. Well, I haven't been having much trouble with getting points, so I figured, hey I can do this. And what do you know, I did. Got all the way down, managed to put myself up 27-24, go for the XP, but my kicker gets nearly blindsided and shanks it. My head met my hand and I was just left muttering to myself of what could have been.

We trade a drives before they finally get another TD to go up 31-27. I'm stuffed on another drive, and they proceed down the field, but the defense hold them for a field goal, and I'm down 34-27. Taking my time, because I wanna make sure there's not a ton of clock left, I managed to slice and dice the defense nicely for a score to tie the game up. With only 4:46 left in the quarter, I figured this is where they put me down by a TD and I throw the interception. No sooner did I think that, then I'm the one getting the interception and looking at the screen going "I'm seriously going to win this?".

There was lots of time left on the clock, so I really worked hard at lowering the chances of losing the ball by just running as much as I could, which was every single play I could manage, and capped it off with a TD and only 54 seconds left on the clock. I was already planning to try playing Alabama and even thinking of switching my dynasty team from Boise to Tulane from the amount of fun I had.

I kicked the ball back to BC and I didn't think much of it, because well, its only 54 seconds left, as long as I hold tight and don't do something stupid, I should be able to walk out of this with the win. Playing passive on defense though was a bad thing, because they were so aggressive out of the gate, I was wondering where this was the rest of the game. They make it all the way down to my 13 yard line with only 5 seconds left.

I call a zone blitz, because what else are they going to do besides throw it. I go after Marscovetra and pressure him damn nicely with my defensive ends and almost ended up sacking him. I honestly thought I got him, but watched as the ball sailed out and down the field to the right side upper corner of the end zone and going "oh he aired it, that's the game!". But Flutie manages to go up, snag the ball and keep both feet in bounds on the corner and I'm blinking my eyes in disbelief that they got it. 42-42 after regulation and now towards overtime in which I'm not very good at winning (I'm bad across all sports games). I also kept replaying that shank extra point in my head and "I make that, I've won this game".

The coin toss comes and BC wins the toss. I have no idea why they decided to play defense, but I'd gladly take it. I had been doing really well with my drives to this point, I was quite certain I could at least put them against the wall with my first drive. Even though my very first pass for a wide open receiver and easy TD got dropped, I turned around and managed to plug the next 3 plays in and managed to get the game leading score and go up 48-41.

With Boston College up, I managed to play really good defense. Get an incomplete pass and a holding call to put them back to 2nd and 20. What I didn't do that play was make sure my safeties were not playing man to man and let Mascovetra and BC burn me again with a 35 yarder to Pantale for the tie ball game. Considering all I needed to do was play bend but not break, but my defense and I blew it big time, even if I hit BC's QB just as he was letting go again.

Forgetting that it goes in reverse for possessions (first game I've played in 11 in OT), you can imagine my shock and horror seeing them trot out there again. I look back on that two last plays I made and remembered that if everyone played on an island it would've been third and 20 or possibly better because I nearly had the sack on both and go for it. I mean, I almost had the sack, I might as well give it a shot. Worst thing I could do was blow the game, the best thing I could was maybe a sack. Averagely, I had to give up some yards, but I'd take the risk.

This time they were waiting on me and I got baited badly. Mascovetra rears back quite easily with all the time in the world and launches to Clyde Lee, and I'm going "aw shit, there's the ball game" but the ball gets under thrown a bit. I'm thinking here's the touch down, but Lauricella moves towards the ball, and of course I'm like hell yeah for the deflection.

He doesn't do that. He instead plucks the ball out of mid-air and starts running with it. I'm now controlling him and as I begin running him down the field and it dawns on me that there's no one in front of me and there's people behind me but no one's catching up. Suddenly I can't help but start going "Go go go!" as if that would help him get there any faster or help him get away from his pursuers.

As he crosses the goal line I'm in utter disbelief. I just beat Boston College and I did it with Tulane, in overtime on an interception and I was more just playing this game to test the sliders, not have a heart pounding and exhilarating game that left me speechless afterwards.

Hell, I never even paid attention to most of the stats, but as I go across here, I realize how great of a game I played to win this.

On the offense side:
Ryan Griffin was 20 of 27 for 266 yards and 3TDs with 13.3 ypc.
Derrick Stozier was 23 for 134 yards and 2TDs and Albert Williams also helped out with 8 for 60 yards and 2TDs.
My receiving core did wonders, I hit my top 3 wide outs for 6 receptions each, Banks for 79 yards and 2TDs, Robottom for 77 yards and 1TD, and Figaro for 87 yards.

On the defensive side:
Farley (ROLB) was a terror on the field getting 9 total tackles, 4 solos, 5 assisted, 1 for a loss, and an INT.
Adams (DT) kept hounding the QB with 6 total tackles, 3 solos, 3 assisted, 2 for a loss, and a sack.
Davis (CB) put the pressure on the defense. He got 8 tackles, 2 solos, 6 assisted, but he also had an INT.
Lauricella (CB) was great all game. Getting 5 tackles, 2 solos, 3 assisted, 1 for a loss, and of course the Icing INT.

Teams Stats

Just looking at the above, I'm still in disbelief at how good I was, especially with a team like Tulane. I saved the highlights just because I still can't believe I did it. I'm right now trying and finally succeeding in saving these highlights for uploading later (PSN kicked me off for idling). God that was just awesome.

Just unbelievable.

---

As you know, I just posted that I was playing Tulane and how I toyed with the idea of playing against Alabama. The Green Wave vs. The Crimson Tide. A classic battle of waves of different colors going for superiority.

I still needed to test the sliders for weaker teams, so I figured why not? After all, I did well against Boston College. I could certainly do well against Alabama.

This game could not start off any worse for me. First possesion and the very first play of the game, I fumble the ball away and put myself down by 7. Not the greatest way to start off the quarter. A disappointing drive that leads to a punt later and another Alabama drive threw the air (yes, you read that right) lead to even more points, so now I'm down 14-0 and we're barely half a quarter old.

It doesn't get any better on my next drive as I try my hardest to get some points, but I eventually fall short of even trying for a field goal and punt the ball back. Alabama takes its next drive and proceeds to make quick work by getting down the field and at the start of the second quarter I'm now down 21-0. At this point I'm just going "why me?" and wondering what in my mind possessed me to take a D+ overall team against the best team in the game.

My rushing game to this point just flat out sucks. It sucks so much, I just go "meh, I'll throw it most of the game and maybe I'll have a prayer." Surprisingly, the tactic works and I take only half of the second quarter to score my first points and TD of the game. Its now 21-7 and while I'm not jumping for joy yet, I'm estatic that I'm at least within striking distance.

That lasted all of a minuge before McElroy bombs a 59 yarder followed up later by a Richardson 15 yard rush and I'm now down 28-7. Maybe if I score quickly, I could at least stick around for this game and make something of it.

Continuing the passing attack, I proceeded to move down the field it wasn't long before I got my second TD of the game and thanks to Alabama not having enough time to make a substantial drive with the last drive of the half, I'm only down 28-14. Its workable for a comeback, but I'm not holding any hopes out.

I didn't do anything really special for the first drive from Alabama to start the second half, but only 4 plays later I'm getting the ball back, and I figure maybe Football God is smiling down on me this game. I keep plugging away with the pass and cut that lead down to 28-21. I doubt Tulane would ever get that close in real life, but that's why video games are around is for stuff like this to be possible.

However, Alabama wasn't having any of that and quickly dials in another TD on me and I'm down 35-21, but at least I can say the sliders work as its an enjoyable and there's the possibility of winning against even the best of teams as long as you don't screw yourself up.

That's probably what led to my next drive's awesome. I get to 4th and 8 and I'm feeling really good about how well this is working and do something I would never normally do, and that's call a pass on that. I toss it to Figaro for 13 yards, keep the drive alive, and then proceed to pass the ball all the way till I get my TD and bring the game back to within a TD at 35-28.

Alabama begins their drive and rushes twice, but on the third try, Farley snags the ball after a huge hit and we're now back in the game as he takes it all the way. 35-35 and contrary to popular belief, end zones don't taste like chicken, they taste like BBQ hamburgers.

So with the game tied and now the game tied and in the fourth quarter, Alabama proceeds to move down the field and I'm thinking to myself "I hate my defense" because well, we're not doing much to stop them. Of course, my defense stops them and holds them to a field goal. Or at least it would've been a field goal if Shelly's kick for Alabama didn't sail wide right at the very last second.

With the ball and 7:53 to go, I'm hyped up and thinking of repeating the awesomeness of beating Boston College, but sadly I didn't make it to the end zone this time. I settled for a field goal, and I made damn sure I made it. I went up 38-35 but there's still 5:42 on the clock, and I realize that I've left a ton of time for the Crimson Tide to make a recovery.

I'm not exactly sure why, but they then proceeded to make some very erratic decision making and went pass so many times I just kept playing against it and before long there's a punt to me and I could go back on the offensive.

Couple of passing plays later and I'm up 45-35 and feeling swell. Not swell enough that I felt my lead would hold mind you, but I felt good enough and confident enough from that last game against Boston College that I could beat the Crimson Tide.

The Crimson Tide begin their attack, and at first I thought perhaps I could hold them to a field goal like I did before or even a punt, but with ruthless and merciless efficiency, they carve me up and its now 45-42 and I'm still feeling confident with only 1:18 to go, but I still don't like this even if I won the onside kick.

I had good reason to worry as the very first play I had was 10 yards for holding and I got a 14 yard run off to. Drove me absolutely insane, because I knew that was the only chance I had to get the ball moving on the run. 3 passing plays later, and I'm punting the ball.

Thankfully, though, I managed to drop it on the five yard line. Again Alabama did some bizarre play calling and tried passing on 3 plays. At first, I was like "seriously", but after the third time, I had stoned them, I wasn't at all worried.

On the fourth one though, I made my CB's robbery of Boston College look like nothing. Taking my DE I managed to get Delery around the offensive line and slam McElroy into the ground for a safety and the ball coming back. Its 47-42.

That's how I wanted it to end.

That's how it should've ended.

That's not what happened.

8 yard rush by Strozier, -1 yard rush by Strozier, followed by a drop by my trustworthy target Figaro and with 23 seconds left, I had to punt the ball, and put it in the hands of the enemy.

On the very first play for the Tide, they toss a long bomb and it sails far and wide from the receiver and I think I've got the game in the bag, but no, it gives them a free play to work with, a stoppage of the clock thanks to Mr. CB I'm not playing playing touchie-feelie with the WR. Thankfully though I got tagged only for 15 yards. They still needed 74 yards to go.

McElroy drops back, my other defensive end just hammers him as he releases, the ball sails to Richardson who's been in for Ingram since nearly the whole game as I broke him in two. He jukes and breaks away from one tackle and defender, he moves into a pile of 5 guys and 3 of them are mine and jukes away from my DT #99, then I miss with my CB #13 and overshoot him, while #18 gets stuck to a freaking hoss of a lineman and can't break away.

The only one who had a shot at stopping Richardson was another back, Echols, but grip and slip and I end up giving up the go ahead touch down. In unbelievable fashion, I end up losing the game and instead of celebrating my game winning sack in the end zone I get to just stare at the screen going "how'd I let that slip away".

The final score was only 48-47, because the Tide went for 2, because I think the game was supposed to give me a kick off return before it ended the game, but it ended the game anyways.

Teams stats for those who want to know.

I figured I'd add this to my older post instead of making a new one.

Just got out of a shootout with Cincinnati. I somehow won 49-42 with the aforementioned Syracuse squad.

Would have been 49-35 if not for this:
661A0001_0_JPEG_SCREENSHOT_HxB.jpg

Just ridiculous catch. Somehow CPU WR kept that one foot in bounds just long enough to register the catch.

Dear lord, that's just ten times worse than the corner one, because my CPU WR got both his feet down. That's just insane how he got that one foot down and still held onto it.

Hey Flik, they'd take defense in OT due to the fact that if they were to stop you (no FG, no TD), all they'd have to do is hit a FG and win the game. I know when I go into OT, I always... ALWAYS take defense so that way I know what I've got to do in order to win or move on to OT #2.

Hm, I guess that makes a lot of sense. I always go for it in college OT, that's probably why I lose 70% of the time.

Can you not taunt when you're going in for the score in this game anymore?

Hold "B" on 360 or whatever the spin button is and if you're a small distance ahead of the defense, you'll do a taunt.

Ugh. So this new tuner fixed linemen from intercepting your ball, but now you gotta deal with them tipping passes they've got no business tipping and if its tipped, its almost certainly an INT. It wouldn't be annoying if it wasn't for the fact that it happens quite often.

Now that you actually earn points for the season showdown thing I've learned that the sportsmanship category is even worse than it was last year. Up 21-3 with 5 minutes left I lost 75 points for daring to throw a pass, because I was 'running up the score'. Yet I don't gain points when I run the ball. Eat me EA.

They do if you run the ball with Conservative playcalling when losing big, as I found out when Harley ripped me a new one.

Taking a knee when there isn't much time gives points, but as far as I can tell running to eat clock doesn't. And after I got dinged for throwing a pass with five minutes left I tried taking a knee the next play. No points.

Change your play call to conservative, let the clock drop to about 1-2 seconds left and run the ball. Even if its a long run, you still get points for running the clock.

Finally got annoyed enough that I sent this e-mail to the NCAA Developers and their feedback link.

One of my favorite modes since NCAA 2002 is the Dynasty Mode. More so, the ability to simulate a season and see say a RB Mark Ingram run for over 2,000 yards or run for 350 yards in a game due to coach philosophy for that particular game. Maybe you want a pass happy offense so he gets 750 or 800 yards receiving and just 850 rushing.

I was excited at the on the field game play of NCAA 2011 and think it's a vast improvement over past years. With that said, I'm horribly disappointed (and saddened) that us season simmers seem to have been neglected. I've simmed many seasons with a wide variety of teams and the statistical outputs seem to have been egregiously overlooked at some point.

Quick Example... Simmed as Alabama with a 35% Weight to the Run on offense. Left everything else as a default.

Here are the statistics through 12 games. It seems that the QBs (and as an offshoot, the WRs/TEs) and RBs are downplayed the most in the simulation stat engine.
- QB Greg McElroy: 188/273 (68.9%) for 2397 yards (8.78 YPA) and 21 TD vs. 6 INT
- RB Mark Ingram: 349 carries for 1801 yards (5.16 YPC) and 20 TD
- LOLB: 55 Total Tackles (21 Solo, 34 Assists). Led team in both categories. Also led team with 5 Sacks.

Only 19 QBs completed more than 60% of their passes. Only 11 RBs had more than a 5.0 YPC with the leader being at just 5.4 YPC. That seems a little low considering last year in the NCAA there were 46 QBs who completed at least 60% and 96 RBs had at least a 5.0 YPC. That was with a quick look at ESPN with sorting. It seems the base numbers are fine but the issue is that the stats themselves (Completion %, Yard Per Carry) simply don't extend far enough down the line player wise.

I fully understand that live gameplay on the field (and online gameplay) are your priorities and deserve focus. I just hope there can be a small tweak or rectification to the above issues for those loyal fans of NCAA that don't often partake in playing out games or playing online.

Thanks for reading.

Sincerely,
David Hunter
