News That Doesn't Warrant a Thread 2024

Oh, wow, I drive through that area all the time on the way back from my girlfriend's place (she's in NJ, not in this area).

Turns put she was in that area about an hour prior!

Roads are still closed in that area, so wasn't able to drive through on my way back this morning.

sometimes we need a good story.

I don't think I had heard about this case before now somehow. I get the vibe that she's guilty but the cops shot themselves in the foot repeatedly and she has a super solid chance of getting off. She'll be completely financially ruined though.

It's extremely debatable whether or not she did it and the police are incompetent or if the police are trying to use her as a patsy. There have been claims about the Canton PD for a long time.

I saw that yesterday and assumed it was an Onion style article. AI standing for "another Indian" or "all Indians" is a running gag in the tech world.

Amazon's no-checkout stores turned out to be this, too. Just hundreds of people in India watching people shop and manually adding stuff to their carts.

Ring camera "AI" features are mostly people in Eastern Europe watching your live feed and entering what they see in their system.

NOT GUILTY~!

"A Norfolk County jury also acquitted Read of two lesser charges — motor vehicle manslaughter while driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a collision that caused the death of John O’Keefe.

Read, 45, was convicted of operating under the influence of liquor. She was sentenced to one year of probation immediately after the verdict was read."

There were just too many questions that could be raised by the "evidence" the prosecution had, and all of it was cast in doubt over the relationship (text messages) between Read and the other officer.

I thought it was pretty crazy but it's a voluntary program so it isn't as bad as it sounds. That said it has the potential to take a bad turn if they start incentivizing the poor to do it or make it something you have to knowingly opt-out of etc.
