I started a new BAP as a 2-way Centre, so now I'm trying to figure out the more offensive side of things. I've tried getting into a bit of a Ciccarelli state of mind, sticking my ass in the goalie's face, but I don't really know how to screen or deflect. I feel like one time, while holding L2 for Vision Control as someone shot from the point, the game threw in a pretty nifty animation where I stood up straight to screen the goalie, and we scored. I could be wrong, though. And I guess I've tried L2 with R1 to try to poke stuff in, but I don't know if that's right.

Just hold L2 and stand in front, without moving around. The computer will automatically handle deflections. Just be ready to pick up any rebounds.

I thought moving the right stick controls your stick on deflections? Seemed to work for me.

Just got this last week and so far i'm loving the new feel of the game (last NHL game I played was 09). I was wondering if anyone else here plays online (PS3) in the EASHL on a team? I would love to find a bunch of people to play with that won't mind an average player like myself.

Strangely I'm in the exact same boat as Cartman on all fronts: last played 09, enjoy it, wonder about EASHL team that wouldn't mind somebody new & vaguely incompetent.

Works for me. I'm usually on pretty late as I get off between 8:30 - 10:30 EST most nights. I'm off every Friday and Saturday, so I will be on a little earlier during those days. If you want to create a team and send out the invites, I'm game.

I can start a team up, probably tomorrow night sometime. Any ideas for a name?

Ok the more the better! Does anyone have any position preferences or team name suggestions? I am willing to play any position besides Goalie because the few times I have tried it I was terrible.

Anybody know the character limit on team names, by any chance?

EASHL is a bit frustrating. There's a lot of really cheap players out there. If you guys have human defensemen, make sure one stays far back to stop breakaways. Generally you can score 99% of the time on a breakaway so giving up a few can be backbreaking.

The old NHL 10 cheapo move was the cross-crease...move the puck far enough across the goalie and he will react like a tard, sprawling or trying to stack the pads or some such nonsense. It's a bit harder this year but people will set up for it. Make sure a defender covers anyone setting up on the far side of the goalie waiting for the pass.

Post what your team name ends up being, I'm not very good but it might be fun to play with a new crew.

I'm not worried about skill level as i'm no superstar either, and I have heard of the cheese involved, and thanks for the tip. The character limit is 25 for team names. Looks like we have 5 people so far which is pretty good. My player is set up to be a LW right now but as I said before i'll play anywhere. As soon as someone more creative than myself comes up with a team name i'll create it and start sending out invites.

Ardin Aurum. I think that would be an awesome team name. It means Glowing Fiery Dawn.

Ok, it probably sucks, but I had to say it.

And I wouldn't mind playing in net, but if everyone doesn't mind I can play other positions.

Ok I made the team, the TSM Whales. Saw they had the only whalers logo and used that, i'm sending invites out now. I can change uniforms I think later if people don't like the one I just threw together. LPM just need your PSN name or just add me and i'll send the invite.

This game is so bloody frustrating. Work your ass for a goal, computer ties it on garbage a minute later. Computer feels like cycling for two minutes straight, they do. Dominate the TOA and still lose.

Hockey like that in real life though. You can run into a hot goalie where you just can't score, and then give up a goal on a bad break. I don't mind the computer cycling the puck, as it actually makes you play defense and try to cover shooting and pass lanes. You have to play the game like an actual game of hockey. The ping pong back and forth is all but done.

I played a bunch of Drop-in games last night as a Defenseman and I must say I really enjoy playing D, and I think i've gotten pretty decent with it. 2 of the games went into OT and one of those was in the second OT when I got to score the game winning goal. That was one of the best games of video game hockey i have ever played.

I played one drop-in as a goalie, gave up 4 goals and lost 4-3. First period took about a half hour because everybody was getting their "LOL PHYSICS *lands huge check on guy nowhere near the puck* 2 minutes for interference" on. I made a few decent saves but when they get to making passes to uncovered shooters directly in front of me, my undeveloped goalkeeper (both in in-game attributes and stick skills) had little chance of sliding across the crease to make the required ridiculous save.

Oh you brave soul. I tried being a goalie once and that was an epic fail as well. It's nice if you have a team in front of you that knows how to play defense, and hockey in general, but if not you're screwed. Luckily just playing the 10 games and getting an average grade of C- is enough to get the next card level which gives you more attribute points. I hit my 10th game last night and it definitely helps being an 80 rated defenseman now.

I sent an invite, I can do it again tonight if it didn't work for some reason...after you finish kicking my ass in NCAA football.

Somewhere in the team menus you can hit R3 to open the player hub & that's where you find your inbox with the invitation; I had a hell of a time finding it, myself.

Yeah, I found it. Though, I seriously wanna kill some of these people online who play the defense. Just stupid stupid stupid people who think it means they need to rush all hte way up.

Anyone else having issues with their online stats not getting recorded? I just played 2 drop in games, and have 1 goal and 4 assists combined. It should also bring me to the 10 game unlock mark, but when I check my online card, I only have 9 games registered and it does not recognize the goal I scored. Both games finished to the end with 3 stars and everything at the end. Anyone else have this happen?

This happened to me at first too, but then later I noticed my games played went from 6-8 after 1 game assuming the older game finally reported to the servers.
