Geocities was Myspace before Myspace. Granted, it was largely fansites with horrible web design, annoying GIFS, MIDI's (remember those?), etc. But it was the first place for people to tell others about themselves and think that they cared.

I sometimes really miss the old days of the internet.

Hey, did you guys know that the reason why EA wouldn't make games for Dreamcast is because they wanted to be the only publisher (including Sega) to make sports games for the system? Well it is.

Apparently, you can still use Yahoo Web Hosting in place of Geocities...which, of course, doesn't even have a basic free service so you have to pay to put up your shitty website.

I thought it was because they lost money making sports games for the Saturn, so they didn't bother with the Dreamcast.

NBA 2k and NHL 2k were known as pretty solid series. Virtua Tennis was awesome for its time. I think WSB 2K was pretty lame, though.

I downloaded the Cops and Robbers add-on for Burnout today. I couldn't play online because I couldn't get on their servers for some reason, but the cop cars are pretty fun to drive and the mode just sounds like a blast to play.

All this and there's STILL the Big Surf Island expansion to come with a whole new island to play on.

UPDATE!: I managed to play a few rounds last night. It's a fun variant on Capture the Flag and teamwork is stressed since the guy that has the flag (in this case, some gold), goes slower than everyone else and needs to be protected. It also allows you to plan out routes to cut the other team off or use side streets and shortcuts to get to your goal faster. It's kinda pricey at 800 points, but I like it a lot.

My xbox 360 died...again...fucking RROD. It's so random...I play COD4, 20 minutes later I decided to play madden...nope, dead.

I never realized I was so addicted to madden as a "I've got 20 minutes to kill" game, until now...i'm dying....I've picked up Civ4 again on my laptop though, which is a good time killer

Football Mogul isn't horrible. There's Front Office Football (and it's college counterpart The College Years), there's Bowl Bound College Football from Grey Dog.

It has dawned on me that with the death of EGM and the fact I never actively went to 1up.com as, for whatever reason, video game news and reviews were a medium I enjoyed in print form, I don't have a friggin clue what's going on these days unless someone talks about it here (or one of the rare times I watch EP/AOTS/X-Play). Guess it's time to become an online news guy.

I have a question. I picked up Super Mario All Stars at a pawn shop last week for the stupid low price of $5. I am having a problem with the control scheme. Before you start a game, it gives you the option to use traditional BA NES style controls, or YB SNES style Mario controls. If I choose the SNES style, and go into Mario 3, B will not work as a jump, but will work for entering a level. This also goes for the other games on the cartridge. Any ideas?

I'm not sure what you're asking here...don't use the SNES control scheme, I guess?

Yea, that's pretty much what I've had to resort to, which is a pain in the ass on that particular controller. You know how you could run and jump using B and A on the NES controller? Well, you can do that in this game, or you have the option to use the Y and B Mario World style controls. If I select Mario World Style controls, I can still use B to select a level on Mario 3, but it is useless for jumping, causing me to use X and A for dashing and jumping, which is just plain awkward for some reason.

I can't log in to Facebook using Google Chrome, it says there is a wrong password/email. Yet I use the same details in IE and it works fine and logs in okay.

Also, I can't get onto GMail using Chrome, but I can using IE.

Any ideas?
