I just figured out how Synchrony works, and it's supposed to work with switching on the measure marks, but on "It's Not My Time", at least, it seemed like it was off-beat. It didn't feel natural, at least. Maybe I'm not clear on what a "measure" is. :\

I saw score markers of 100 to 400, though I'm not sure how I got what. I feel like I got less if the timing of the switch was less exact. I don't know if there's a cumulative effect if you keep switching every measure.

I might start a separate thread for Blitz if only so I can brag about whooping all those asses on my friends list. I think I've figured out the best power up combos and what to focus on in a certain song. I've even found myself browsing the music store again (I still haven't bought that Bon Jovi pack) and looking on Amazon for prices on the older games and track pack discs.

This will not end well.

I'll catch you on a few once I get a good idea on powerup setups.

I'm starting to get some good scores with Bandmate and Runaway, and sometimes Super ____. You really have to know the song to know which instrument to boost. The load screen things suggest that higher difficulties often means more notes. Except you can have a guitar or bass part where it's just simple straight up strumming for most of the song—it would be easy with an instrument, but still have a ton of notes.

I think I got my first gold stars on "Attack" by 30 Seconds to Mars, but the top of the leaderboard is at something like 430K, while I was at 250K or so. The overdrive energy seems to last forever in that song, so I feel like Jackpot could give some ridiculous bonuses. But that one's really hard to use with something like Pinball or Runaway; Bomb would be better; I haven't figured out Flame one yet.

I need a game to play for the month until RE 6 comes out. Thinking about Witcher 2, GTA 4 or one of the fight nights. I have not played any of those. Having a hard time getting into any games lately.

Witcher 2 is ok. Rather involved and a pretty steep difficulty curb, so be careful. GTA 4 is your typical GTA, basically a manic depressive Saint's Row. Haven't played the last couple of Fight Nights, so can't really say anything. Last one I played was pretty fun though.

EA boss proudly refuses to publish single-player games

Electronic Arts' games label boss Frank Gibeau has revealed that he's not let any solely single-player games pass through his gates, ensuring that absolutely every single title the company publishes has an online component.

"We are very proud of the way EA evolved with consumers," stated the executive. "I have not green lit one game to be developed as a singleplayer experience. Today, all of our games include online applications and digital services that make them live 24/7/365.

"One of our biggest growth opportunities is Play4Free titles that allow customers to play at no cost and make purchases via microtransactions. We see this as a huge opportunity, and one that’s powered by our hybrid cloud model."

With co-op coming to Dead Space 3 and multiplayer rumored for Dragon Age 3, it seems that the idea of solo-oriented experiences is now dead to EA. As is variety, it seems. The inexorable march towards videogames becoming one indistinguishable mass of grey sludge continues.

I wonder what the MP mode would be for DA3?

:( Wow. Guess that means the re-releases of Baldur's Gate will have some stupid multiplayer thing attached that will be required to be played.

Edit: I see Bioware's got nothing to do with the game. Interesting. Didn't know that. Huzzah!

I bought this Mark of the Ninja game on XBLA because the demo was fun. It's a really good game. I'd recommend waiting for a DOTW since it got the 15 dollar price tag...but it's one worth playing

I've probably got a lot more hours of playing Final Fantasy VIII in total than I do playing the Dreamcast.

I couldn't get past Disc 2 of FFVIII.

To clarify, no copy of the game (whether it be a literal copy of the game or a legitimate copy of the game) could work past a particular cutscene on Disc 2 on my PS1. I found the game so boring I didn't care.

What the hell happened to video game manuals? I just bought Sleeping Dogs. The book has the cover, you open it up and the next page (back of the cover) has the warning stuff and the ratings, the next page has the controls, and the back of that one just has warranty info. 2 physical pages of an instruction manual. I've seen this in a few other games lately.

Most games give you a tutorial in-game now, so why bother wasting paper printing a manual nobody will read? Some games don't even HAVE manuals anymore.

Who needs manuals when the Internet is far more instructive

I rarely used the manuals to learn how to play the game. I enjoyed the backstory stuff and whatnot. As a collector of older games I like having the books for completion sake. Now you still have it for that, but there's nothing there.

It's also good to have something to read on the crapper. I flipped through the Secret of Mana book the other day while dropping a deuce.

Last two Vita games I've bought haven't had books, but the cases have a slot to hold one. Interesting.

Some Vita games have a printed code for the Online Pass. Hot Shots Golf had one. Wipeout has one too.

I wish games would still do the back story in the manual thing. It was a sort of what I used to read manuals for, rather than actually for the instructions.

I wouldn't mind the decline of the videogame manual if it actually brought costs down for consumers.. but it's pretty clear it doesn't. It's probably a negligible amount in the end anyway, but I'm just sayin..

My LCD died on me a few days ago. It sits in "standby" and will not power on at all. No little green flashing lights, nothing. It's only around 18 months old but I'm pretty certain I am just going to buy a new one. Thinking of ripping out the insides and making some kind of circuit board art or something.

Man...Sleeping Dogs goes to some dark places when Winston's mother gets involved. This game came out of nowhere and will probably end up on my GOTY list.
