For the time being, it's only for Xbox 360, since it's pretty heavily tied in with their XNA program (an indie game development toolkit). But certain (one would assume popular) songs are supposed to be released for PS3 and Wii eventually.

Here's a preview video of "For the Love of God" by Steve Vai. It's available today. It's being autoplayed in the game's Audition Mode. The box below the score counter with the timers won't appear during actual gameplay.

There's been some bullshit with certain record labels demanding a lot more in royalties from music game companies for their songs, and I think Muse is one of the bands that got caught in that crossfire.

Well shit.

I tried the Network store, got "Even Rats" (still fun to play) and "Drunken Lullabyes" by the Dropkick Murphys. Man I've listened to that song 100 times on my Ipod, but fuck that song right in the ear trying to play it. I got 89% on Expert, and I'm trying to figure out how. Seemed like I was missing a ton. Still a blast, but man it had a weird chart of double strums and HO/POs.

Just saw some stuff related to Rock Band 3. Can't talk about it, but keyboards are the TIP of the iceberg.

To give you an idea of my cultural touchstone, I think all three of those guys are probably horrible people, but keytars are awesome.

USA Today has the first preview up for RB3.

Stuff: 83 new tracks on the disc.
It will also be compatable with the hundreds of other tracks you might have collected at this point.
25 key keyboard which looks fun to play in the video I saw

I stole the list of confirmed new songs from here (where you can see the video I couldn't figure out how to embed here):

My first thought was that if you are going to put in a keyboard to play piano parts...you really have to get me some November Rain. You'd also think they'd have some Elton John and Billy Joel type piano shit coming. Or else I don't see why you bother.

I am excited for "Power of Love" and "Here I Go Again" but I agree with a few posts above, needs to be KEYtar.

I'm hoping (and assuming) for a game and keyboard bundle because I don't want to have to buy more guitars, microphones and drums just to get the keyboard. I have almost every karaokee game and got two band bundles so I must have 5 or 6 mics by now (not counting the ones I already sold or traded), 5 guitars, 2 drums and a turntable. I guess I'll need to get the keyboard but I'm having no more desire or room for plastic instruments.

It amazes me that November Rain hasn't made it into this or GH yet. What's the holdup?!

A keytar would be neat. Throw in some of the European power metal and were all set!

The prototype they were using could be held as a guitar or played face up.

Fucking badass! Throw me some Sonata Arctica or Kamelot on there (hah, yea, fat chance) and I'm all over it. I'd even settle for November Rain.

They did release entire albums of the Cars and Boston as DLC.

This game had me at Bohemian Rhapsody and Sister Christian.

Sup. I'm excited. :D Pro mode on drums alone will get me going. Supposedly most of the back catalogue already has cymbal charting built-in. They're adding in support for a second drum pedal, for double bass, or hi-hat, though I'm not sure that any songs will be charted for that. Might just be for freestyle mode.

With the new song management system, you'll apparently be allowed to hide songs you don't like (possibly by rating them 1 Lighter, I'm not sure). So I can wish the likes of "So What'cha Want", "Visions", and AC/DC in general a fond fuck off.

The red Mustang guitar is kind of the middle-of-the-road Pro guitar. Fender will be releasing a full-on Squier Fender Stratocaster electric guitar with sensors on the frets and full strings that you can play the game with as well. (No price announced yet. x_x )

If you're in Canadia, there's several plastic rock things clearing out lately. London Drugs out west seems to have a bunch of stuff for $50. More recently, Rogers Plus has band bundles for $40. I snagged The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition (the good one) today. lol $250

There's Hero-side stuff as well. DJ Hero and full band bundles are supposedly $40 (I didn't check myself while I was there), and older (not Guitar Hero 5) game & guitar bundles might be as little as $20.

And this past week was Miley Cyrus. Predictably, the internet is loving it.

(Side small font flameshield'd note: There are some Nickelback songs I would consider buying, but these aren't them.)
