Got it at the store, stayed up a bit last night and some more this morning, about 20% in.
Non-spoiler thoughts.
Customization- What I've dabbled with there's quite a bit it looks like most guns have 16 or so options for looks (pistols for example have 4 base looks with 4 color schemes, some greyed out at the moment for unlockable)
For clothes they didn't go back to the awesome Saints Row 2 method of being able to layer stuff, but they added quite a bit to the shops and it looks like only a little (stuff that was kind of redundant in The Third anyway) has been cut. One cool bonus is that you can buy full sets of Decker, Morningstar and Luchadores in... I wanna say it was Nobody Loves Me, mighta been Leather and Lace and also the Specialist look (finally I can have my Saint be the Rollerwhore Decker girl)
All the vehicles I've picked up have decals that you can put on them, and they vary (the Decker Ghost, a stylized skill, the Saints Fleur are some I've come across so far)
One issue I've found is after the initial set up, when I go to Image as Designed and do the voices, the character doesn't speak so I just guess on what I'd like to hear and then waste money redoing it if I don't like how they sound.
Powers-
Going in I thought I'd hate the powers, and while it totally changes the game dynamic I do like that the assualt based powers replaced the Grenade slot so instead of chucking a Flashbang, you can mass freeze a group for a short period of time which I can deal with. Running super fast and jumping across the board is also more fun than I thought (although it makes Insurance Fraud kinda easy, just run hella fast, jump and ragdoll midair and aim for traffic on the way down.)
Side missions-
Come across Insurance Fraud, Mayhem (with different weapons), Tank Mayhem,
Mind Over Murder- A Genki based game with Telekinesis throwing stuff through designated targets
, a powerbased Trailblazing and I'm sure more will open up down the line.
I'm having fun so far, and the pop culture references come a mile a minute the basic gameplay is the same (take over the city by clearing out groups of gathered Aliens), the powers twist is there if you want it, but like I said before, at least this early in it's simply a Grenade replacement, I'm sure that'll change once I get deeper in the power unlockables. The city layout is exactly the same (all the stores are where you remember them from The Third) only with all your Cribs being rubble and Alienified stuff around. But the map is exactly the same, usually with the mob groups being exactly where they were in The Third
I picked up this and splinter cell. I've been in a gaming drought lately aside from some live arcade games here and there. Feels good to have made it out. These two, GTA in September, Arkham Origins in October, next gen in November. Gaming vacation officially over today lol.
Man, I don't know if I can go back to just driving cars in GTA and Watch Dogs after being able to effortlessly dash and fly across the city in this. Plus, that fucking Mix station has the greatest soundtrack since like San Andreas.
I don't know where the people that say "the 360 version runs like garbage" are coming from; it's perfectly fine, especially if you install it.
I really wanted to buy this at launch, but I can only seem to play one game at a time, and don't think I would be done with it before GTA came out. And I know for sure that will be a buy right away.

I've only had a couple minor issues (I had to chase an "Invisible" Snitch by it's glowing shadow once, and had a car thrown on top of me while I was standing in a corner that freaked the camera out for ten seconds) on the 360 and it runs smooth. Dunno what he's talkin' about.
I don't care what they say, destroying the final hotspot tower as "The Boys are back in town" finished up playing is one of the best experiences in a game ever.
And killing a whole group of aliens to "This is how we do it" is hard to top. Until it is followed by "Insane in the Membrane".
Whoever decided the radio should be heard at all times deserves a raise.
That's kinda funny because I've been watching a Lets Play of people playing it on PC and there's glitches all over the place, at least in the early parts.
