Genuinely surprised they are doing another Rey centric movie so soon after RoS. I guess it will have been five years since it came out by the time this one comes out. And the Disney executives are like “Fuck. Last one made a billion dollars even though a bunch of people hated it. Let’s give it another shot.”

Ray Stevenson playing a Sith? Yes please
There’s always more Star Wars to watch because he might be a dark Jedi or Darksider and not exactly Sith. Seeing Rebels fans react to the trailer is fun because I haven’t seen that yet and apparently it’s chock full of things from that show. They also didn't react to Ray Stevenson though so there’s something for everyone.

The problem with stripmining IP for every last dollar is that in the process you completely ruin the mystique of your characters. Watching Boba Fett bumble around like an old fart, watching him mess around with some stupid kids, it is really frustrating to see in his show. You know what really sucks is the realization that any awesome new character in a huge franchise will be ruined the same way. The ‘need to know everything about a side/cult character even where they shit and sleep’ is a plague ruining Hollywood.

I love that goddamn special. It's too bad Bea Arthur is dead because Disney+ having a sitcom about her running the cantina would be great.

It's really a fever dream. I have to be in the right mood to last for the whole special (The scenes where it's just wookies talking to each other and some of the songs are hard to get through), but it's a blast to watch high or inebriated. That little cartoon in the middle of it is good though.

I've gotten to enjoy the Wookies way more than I thought. It's so bizarre. Jefferson Starship are awful but it's canceled out by the porn machine.

That cartoon did Harrison Ford so dirty.

Just the opening credits are classic. Carrie Fisher is faded as fuck, Ford looks like he's in mid arguement, Mark Hamill has the most caked on makeup since Gus Johnson during a Strikeforce Event, and then they introduce the Chewbacca family.

Luke's drag makeup is a highlight. Ford's total contempt is by far the best, though. He's a national treasure.

Harvey Korman is the worst part, and I like him in virtually everything else. Gonna blame Bruce Vilanch.

Oh yeah that Space Alien Julia Childs bit is horrible. Beatrice Arthur kills it at least.

Bea Arthur and Art Carney put in work. Arthur's segment is genuinely good for what it is, and Carney is maybe the only person having any kind of fun.

Are you all ready to be disappointed again?
I know people like to knock the movie, etc. but there was a reason it's the 11th-highest domestic box office adjusted for inflation.

I don't think it's a great movie, 6/10 not helped what it had to follow up on, but I think it's better upon re-watches than most probably thought at the time.

It's a disjointed mess of a kid's movie that was released at a time when kid's movies were seen as utterly fucking lame because it was 1999 and everything had to be XTREME. It's also still a lesson in how some visions aren't worth sharing.

AOTC is terrible but I feel like the damage was all done in Phantom. They ruined the Jedi/force, introduced Jar Jar, the terrible Trade Federation stuff, brought back Threepio/r2 for no reason, etc etc. By the time of the second movie I was already checked out even as a teenager.

Phantom Menace is really bad but the saber duel is great. AOTC is a really bad toy commercial with nothing redeeming.

I'll die on the hill of Rise Of Skywalker being worse than Phantom Menace, too. One broke my heart, the other made me furious.

The saber duel is great but it led to them making every light saber duel being too long and "epic". There's a lot to be said about the short, samurai movie style duels in the original movies. Sometimes storytelling is more important than fight choreography.

I rewatched the prequels three or four years ago and maybe it’s cause I had insanely low expectations or I just really like Christopher Lee or space cocaine but AOTC was quite a bit better than I remembered. It’s still easily a bottom 3 Star Wars movie but not the absolute worst like I remembered.

Revenge of the Sith was marginally worse than I remembered and Phantom Menace was definitely worse. I will still probably watch that garbage when it returns to theaters though.

The first Star Wars movie in a decade and a half hinging on a child actor that isn’t transcendently good for their age has to be one of the worst creative decisions of all time.

Then somehow the adult actor that replaced the child actor was somehow markedly worse.

Anyway, Jar Jar got most of the heat probably cause people knew they couldn’t all pile on the kid actor.
