Star Wars Franchise Discussion

Poor guy. As if the 25th Anniversary of The Phantom Menace wasn’t going to be depressing enough already.

The re-release of Episode 1: Phantom Menace did $2.43 Million on Friday ahead of Star Wars Day, just short of Challengers for the #3 spot by about $90,000. Curious what the Saturday & Sunday numbers will be.

It made 3X what The Matrix and The Mummy opened up to just weeks prior in 1999 and still made almost 2X in its 2nd Weekend. I remember not even being a Star Wars fan and going to see this in theaters because it was such a hyped up marketed phenomenon.

Anyone watch "Bad Batch"? Just had the series finale a couple of weeks ago. Started off as a fun "mission of the week" but morphed into an exploration of loyalty, brotherhood, free will, found families, and what we owe to our soldiers when they are no longer useful/needed. Big recommendation if you haven't.

Yeah the revisionist history regarding the Phantom Menace is fucking weird. I will say though, the pod racing N64 game still slaps!

Star Wars makes far better cartoons than live action tbh. The fact people seem to now think "Phantom Menace" is a good movie horrifies me.

People feel really, really bad for Jake Lloyd. They should, don't get me wrong. But I've noticed that completely turns him into a good actor, somehow. But how people are, in today's world, able to overlook the racist shit is fascinating.

It's the same way we look at the shitty movies of our youth and factor nostalgia over quality.

Plus, I've seen what the Zoomers think a good movie is. I'm glad I'm an old man.

I never had blinders like that, though. Like I recognize a lot of the most childish of childhood movies i liked for what they are.

I've only watched the first episode of "Acoylote" so I don't really have an opinion on it yet but seeing the twitter reaction from racists has been something. "THEY HADA FIRE IN SPACE"!! it's fucking star wars. They always have fires in space. It has some of the worst physics in scifi.

The Acolyte has been cancelled. Just one, and done. I watched two episodes thinking maybe when I got super tv desperate I’d go back to it. Seems unlikely now.

It was...OK. I liked it. Manny Jacinto was prob the best part of the series.

EDIT - also some really cool lightsaber battles.

Anyone watching Skeleton Crew? It's super cute & fun, but with also something darker lurking underneath.

Give me that Chewie romcom and I'll have something to look forward to from this franchise
She's a princess who wants to lead a revolution. He's a hairy 7 foot tall beast that's good with mechanics. And now they're stuck being chased by the Galactic Empire...and his best friend is a scruffy-looking nerfherder!

Chewbacca and Leia in...AAAAAAAARRRRRGGHHHHHH HRRRHRRNRRRRR, coming to Disney Plus.
