One good thing about the death of the monoculture is we'll never get something like Madonna's cover of "American Pie" becoming a massive worldwide hit despite everyone thinking it was a horrible idea again.

(Actually, it looks like it only went to #29 in the US. Glad Americans in '00 were at least united in protecting Don MacLean's dignity.)

I've had this stuck in my head since I heard it play in the grocery store two nights ago. Not a hater but late era Sheryl Crow? Why can't they just play something from Tuesday Night Music Club or The Globe Sessions like a normal grocery store.

It definitely pisses me off that prime Sheryl Crow dated Pilgrim era Eric Clapton.

Then again in era that I just posted from, she was dating Lance Armstrong so I suppose she had terminally awful taste in men.

"The Way You Love Me" by Faith Hill is a fascinating song. I've got this weird obsession with that period in the late 90s-early 2000s where country and pop weren't fully integrated but they were trying, so you'd get pop mixes of country songs or country covers of pop songs. I'm in favor of random shit like this.

Is Darryl McDaniels on call for any documentary about 20th century music? "Hello? You need me to share a few thoughts on Gregorian monks? Yo, I'm there in an hour!"

Although given his favorite singer is Sarah McLachlan, he probably does love older soft rock too.

The local laundromat was blaring "Come To My Window" and I think we've officially jumped the shark

Seal's cover of "Fly Like An Eagle" during an evening grocery run. Deserves more respect.

Seal in general deserves more respect. He deserves more than being "the guy who sang that song from that one Batman movie".

Meeting at the intersection of Vale's Supermarket Music thread and Vale's The Who thread is how friggin sick Pino Palladino's bass playing is on Paul Young's "Every Time You Go Away".
