I hate Henin, her herp covered mouth and her low-hanging nipples.

Only thing I'm hoping for is Federer winning the Grand Slam. Ain't gonna happen though.

The women's game is pretty much made for laughing at.

That was true up until a few weeks ago, since it was just a bunch of #2s battling amongst each other. But now Justine is back and order will soon be restored to women's tennis and the Williamses and Jankovic and Sharapova and Ivonovic and Safina can go back to being the foils and supporting players they were always meant to be.

No, I just meant that it sucks to watch compared to the men's game, so most of the entertainment comes from watching the girls hit unforced errors and listening to Shriver call every other player a fat cow.

Cilic beat del Potro. Wildness. Well, so long as either he or Gonzo beat Bald Andy, I won't be too upset with it.

EDIT: Jesus, they really laid it on thick with this latest video package for Roddick. "With the way he handled himself after the [Wimbledon] loss, he gained a new found respect amongst the tennis community."

"YOU WON FIVE TIMES ALREADY!"

Well, I guess he gets credit for not breaking his racquet over Federer's head.

I soured on most other stick & ball sports as a kid, plus tennis plays into my international tastes.

So, the entire announce team has been pretty insufferable for this tournament, with their complete overstating of Davydenko's chances to beat Federer and make thr semifinals being a prime example. Just because the Russian plays hard at these smaller, best-of-three tournaments, they somehow overlooked YEARS of history and decided that not only is this the year he makes it past the quarterfinals in Melbourne, but that he beats Fed to do so. After an entire week of listening to this, Davydenko played Verdasco tonight, and the pair played like a couple of holes, with Davydenko pulling out a close 5 setter thanks in large part to Verdasco hitting TWENTY double-faults and generally moving around with the grace of a cow. What made it even better were the audible groans of Gilbert & Drysdale as they realized that they had crossed the point-of-no-return with their Davydenko nonsense whilst he and Fernando sent another groundstroke sailing off court.

So Gilbert, Cahill & company's response to the realization that Davydenko is a skinny, wimpy bastard?

"Well, I guess Federer might beat him because he's tired now."

Fuck these people.

Lleyton Hewitt failing at the Australian Open is always one of my early year sporting highlights, he got lucky facing an injured Baghdatis but fortunately i can always count on Federer to crush him easily.

The Tsonga match was pretty entertaining to watch, even though it pointed out Tsonga's uncanny ability to go brain dead at the worst possible times..

I like watching Sharapova play. I think she had 70 unforced errors in her last match. It's a good blend of hotness and comedy.

Well, at least Sharapova has actually done something in her career, unlike Kournikova.

Besides, I was digging the new Russian named Kirilenko. She just lost to Zheng. At least I think that's what her opponent's name is.

Roddick has talent, but its obvious that he doesn;t have the mental toughness to win most of the time, unless he is facing someone just outside the top ten. He just can't put it together.

I think his biggest problem is not so much a lack of mental toughness, but rather that he has no concept of strategy. It shows in his general lack of footwork, as he rarely bothers moving around the ball to set-up strokes towards an opponent's weak side, and also his seemingly random attempts to volley. It doesn't help that he doesn't chase balls down as much as he could, nor that his backhand is still relatively weak, but those alone aren't what's holding him back.

Oddly enough, Cilic might just beat Murray, which would end up making the other semi-final the de facto championship match, as I think Fed, Tsonga or Djokovic stomp him in the finals.

Im hoping we get Serena-Henin in the finals on the womens side, so Serena can stomp her for Roland Garros all those years ago.

J-W Tsonga v. Fed will be interesting, I think JW can keep Federer on his toes with his power game for the first set and a half, but I see Roger pulling away.

Lei, the Roddick description you put out is about as spot on as possible, Roddick gets a pass from me if-when he loses to Fed & Rafa (07-09), but if his head is on straight he should be in the semis and sniffing a Championship every time.

Only to run into the Swiss and Spanish buzzsaws, unless they get knocked out early by some twist of fate.

If either one of them advance, Roddick is going to get rolled. Its sadly predictable. Andy's greatest chance was at Wimbledon, and he crumbled. Unless he complete retools his game, and I just can't see who can do that for him. I think its mental at this point.

And if Serena doesn't get it together, Henin will beat her soundly, though I do want Serena to curbstomp her in straight sets, zero and zero. Do I think that's going to happen? No.
