I usually don’t watch Anime nowadays, but I’m really into “Vinland Saga” on Netflix-wish the opening theme song wasn't shitty, but other than that I’m loving this show.

Banged out Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix. Awesome stuff if you're into Sci-Fi, guns & action, and general Trigger animation work.

Rebecca's the best.

So I've watched at least one episode of everything this season now I think:

The Essentials
Vinland Saga Season 2
Ok this started last season but I only got to it now. Fantastic stuff as you'd expect.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc-
Great show and the animation continues to be beautiful.

Others that thankfully aren't isekei:
The Dangers in My Heart- Weirdo kid who is obsessed with murder stuff slowly gets a crush on popular girl. romcom stuff.

Hell's Paradise-
A bunch of murderers and assigned executioners are sent to try and bring back an immortality potion in a mysterious land that kills everyone else thats been sent. This seems like it could be really good.

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!-
Origin story for one of the KonoSuba characters. I love KonoSuba.

Heavenly Delusion- 15 years ago monsters wrecked the world and now some teens are wandering around trying to find someone and there's also a hidden facility with other kids etc. Seems like it could be a good scifi.

Isekei BS
I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too-
Fat Loser becomes handome OP guy after finding another world. Total wish fulfillment shit.

Summoned to Another World for a Second Time-
Kind of self-explanatory. Guy ends up back in the world he'd been to before and deals with all the fallout.

Kamikatsu, What God Does in a World Without Gods-
Guy ends up in a world well without gods. but he brings his cults God with him and he ends up starting a new religion just to survive and hijinks!

The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far-
Seen this one a billion times at this point. Guy is reborn as a kid and given tons of OP shit blah blah. This is probably a drop.

Dead Mount Death Play- This one's a better variation. The "evil" god is reborn in our world and joins up with the yakuza to start a new life.

@Brooklyn Zoo will be glad to know i started up Naruto Shipudan again and I'm a bit more than halfway through.

Oh there's also this show called "Mashle" which seems to be like what if Asta from Black Clover went to a magic school and was even denser. Basically the main character has no magic in a kingdom where you ahve to have it but he's super super strong and he goes to a magic school in order to protect his dad and his sheer strength lets him be awesome in all kinds if humorous ways. It's amusing so far.

I finished Naruto Shippuden (minus all the god damn filler, holy shit). Overall it's a good show but Sasuke and Sakura are two of the most unlikeable characters ever and I wish they had both died. Reading wiki and seeing the author admit he had no idea how to write female characters was not at all surprising either.

In catching up on "great" recent anime I watched all 12 episodes of Chainsaw Man today. Another really good series although I had to find Ep 12 elsewhere since it wasn't on Crunchy Roll for whatever reason.

If you're looking for a fun, cute, anime, Do It Yourself! is all sorts of adorable. The lead character Yua Serufu ends up joining a DIY club and it's basically cute girls doing DIY projects with slice-of-life moments. The animation style is pretty simple but it's a breezy watch, easy to root for the lead character, and the little characterization/humor moments help make it stand out above other similar fare.

Started up Eden's Zero S2, 3 episodes in.

Also binged OMINAI: Now I'm Your Sister! about a shut-in boy who gets transformed via medicine into a middle school girl by his younger sister. Better animation and is more heartwarming/wholesome than that kind of plot has any right to be, surprisingly solid show overall. Not the kind of show you'd publicly go out of your way to recommend, given the plot concept, but worth watching. 7.5 to 8/10

Finally got around to watching my Blu-Ray of Weathering With You. Fantastic movie though I think I liked Your Name slightly more.

Started up The Executioner and Her Life, which I'm enjoying and finally got around to starting up Little Witch Academia on Netflix, which I'm loving, since it's been on my "I should watch this" mental list for like the last 2-3 years. I've heard there were older movies but not sure how vital they are to going into LWA fairly cold (though I definitely can see the Harry Potter vibes).

Quietly "big" news as Trigger regained rights to Panty & Stocking and will probably further releases for the IP.

"Now for those unfamiliar with the anime's wild history, Panty and Stocking was created under Hiroyuki Imaishi at Gainax. The title dates back to 2010, and it became a cult hit with fans. However, Imaishi and others from Gainax left the studio to form Trigger which forced the artist to leave the IP behind. Now, Trigger has been able to acquire Panty and Stocking for Imaishi"

lol the "gear 5" episode of One Piece (which was awesome) not only broke Croll but all of the big illegal streaming sites when it came out. I've seen eps slowdown or break croll for a few minutes but never anything like this let alone multiple sites. Too bad the internet/social media wasn't a thing for Goku going Super Saiyan.

I'll finally get around to giving my thoughts on the new season of stuff tomorrow now that i've watched several episodes of most things

Not as many shows as usual this season although there's a couple big ones to make up for that,

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Separation: This is peak shonen stuff. all action, no-filler and the animation is fantastic.

Sorcery Fight 2: More fantastic animation. First half of this seems to be set in the past before moving forward again to give more background to the teacher characters which I'm all for. The lore in the show is a lot of fun.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2: When this show isn't being pervy it's the best isekei show I've seen with a complicated set of characters of a smart plot. but it's full of pervy shit way too often to ever recommend it. This season has less of it thankfully.

Masamune-kun no Revenge R : 2nd season of former fat boy now handsome muscle guy seeking revenge on his hot tormentor revenge comedy. Lots of wacky hijinks.

Undead Girl Murder Farce: Horror-Mystery shit with a immortal talking head and a ogre dude solving mysteries involving vampires and other freak show things while trying to find her body in the late 19th century. HQ might like this.

Helck: Comedy show with a super strong human hero who decides to become the new demon king and the demon lord who distrusts his motives and keeps trying to prove he can't be trusted. It's not bad

Liar Liar: Another one of those shows where for some reason there's a school (except it's a whole island of schools) where they've decided the best way to achieve academic success is to force students to fight each other in games. The twist this time is a guy who sucks at games accidently beats the best student on the whole island and now has to keep winning! I might drop this.

Reign of the Seven Spellblades: Another school one. Six (where's number 7??) teens come to a magic school and bond and there's older students that want to like murder them and this isn't against the rules for some reason? This is another one I'm close to dropping!

There's one or two more I haven't started yet.

Caught another ep of Demon Slayer and restarted One Piece (now 40 eps in) with the live-action remake that's supposed to cover the 1st arc coming to Netflix on Friday(?) ahead of the weekend.

I had started OP in 2015 and I think I was partly put off by its length and the fact I wasn't really... into it/getting it the way I can appreciate it now.

Knocked out the One Piece live-action adaptation. Solid stuff for the most part although I was disappointed that Nami's mother's backstory kind of got shafted/disappeared completely and the villagers weren't revealed to be aware of why Nami was doing what she was doing. Also disappointed that Usopp's cowardice was less overt/on display as it kind of dampened his dream to be a brave warrior at the end.

The casting was great, especially Luffy & Zoro, and the performance/change to Buggy the Clown made him a particular highlight of S1 for me. Loved the designs of the characters and the usage of CGI to pull off most of the rubber effects. I don't remember Kody/Garp being as central in the anime but I liked the storyline overall and thought both characters helped flesh out Luffy's character too.

loved the live-action adaptation. Best one I've ever seen. I thought it was very true to the spirit of the source material and a lot of fun. I also watched it in subs with the Japanese voice cast from the actual anime which was a super cool touch.

Ok now that we're a few episodes into the season here is the new stuff I'm watching this season:

sequels:
Shadow Garden 2nd Season: this continues to be one of the best twists on a tired genre (isekei).

Dead Mount Death Play Part 2: this is decent but not anything worth going out of the way for

Goblin Slayer II: I really enjoy this although the depictions of rape by the goblins were a bit queasy. The title character is interesting and the way combat is shown is a lot better than almost anything else you'll see.

The Faraway Paladin: The Lord of Rust Mountains: I loved the first season of this. Slow start so far but I'm sure this will pick up.

Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc: This continues to be a great show with some tremendous character development. One of my fav shows in recent years.

Fantasy/Isekei trash:
My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer: Japan loves its literal titles lately. This is a cute show and not a bad way to kill 20 minutes.

Berserk of Gluttony: Everyone is born with a "skill" that determines their fate. The MC thought he had a shitty skill but it turns out he has the ability to devour other peoples skills and make them his own. This is ok.

The Kingdoms of Ruin: Humans and witches lived in peace until us shitbag humans decide to do a genocide. A human who was raised by a witch decides to genocide us back. There's a lot of violence and people being awful in this. It's supposed to be really serious but I mostly find it funny.

A Returner's Magic Should Be Special: Millions of people get trapped in a dimension with a dragon and ultimately lose the fight against it and the MC who made it to the very end wakes up back in the past and uses the chance to try and prepare himself and his friends to fight against it. The premise is interesting and so far this has been decent.

Ragna Crimson: He fights and kills a bunch of weird ass dragons, most of which look like humans. Ragna is also merged with his future self and accompanied by a gender-swapping dragon and a slime creature. It's a weird show but pretty good.

Other Shows:
Kamierabi: This is a future diary type show without the edge, god candidates are given powers and have to fight each other. The protagonist is of course a whiner who doesn't want to fight.

Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions: A loser detective seeks help from a guy who is banned from sleuthing because any time he solves a case he blanks and hypnotizes the culprit into killing themselves. This is mostly comedy, decent show.

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You: @HarleyQuinn might like this (and the next one for sure), The god of luck accidently turned 1 into 100 on the paperwork and now the MC is fated to have 100 soulmates! And he has to fall in love with all of them or they'll die. So after 2 eps he's in a relationship with 3 girls I think and it's pretty funny rather than coming off gross.

Undead Unluck: @Brooklyn Zoo will like this as well as HQ: A girl whose very touch brings Unluck to anyone who touches her tries to commit suicide only to be rescued by a guy who is immortal (and now wants her to use her powers to kill him in the biggest display of unluck ever) and uses his powers in crazy ways. They of course end up fighting an organization full of people with powers and its just a balls out crazy comedy show.

Under Ninja: A world where ninja exist and are regulated by the government basically. One of the ninja is a lazy part-timer and he gets drafted into a mission. This is part comedy-action and I like it so far. There's one side story with a Russian running around cutting peoples dicks off thats pretty hilarious.

Finally knocked out the Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Arc (Season 3?). Good stuff although it has that Shonen/Anime(?) problem of stretching out a 1-2 episode plot over like 5+ episodes but the characterization/animation is still so brilliant that it doesn't matter as much.

Appreciate the suggestions. Just been watching the devil is a part timer. I need to get back on Tokyo Revengers and Jujutsu Kaisen. Will check out the rest of that list as well.

Banged out several anime finally...

I'm in Love With the Villianess: Solid enough anime where a male teen(?) transports into the world of a game he plays as a female commoner and since he has a crush on the noblewoman, the male in a "female character" pledges to win her heart. Decent plot, some humor, and decent Yuri-ness but it's sometimes hard to separate the "male in a female body" initial concept to buy fully into the Yuri aspect.

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You: Fun little anime with some weirdness. Harem anime but the fun is more about the characters of the girlfriends and how they interact with one another than the protagonist. This isn't 10/10 shit but it's a 7/10 type dumb, fluffy fun Harem anime with over-the-top women characters. I expect and hope it'll get a 2nd Season just to see who gets introduced.

Eden's Zero: Season 2: Great stuff as expected. Some of it felt a little draggy at the start but I was into the end robots plot and excited to see where it goes. Like Fairy Tail, I find my enjoyment of the plots tend to rest more on the villain(s) and how interesting they are/their relationships with the main characters.

Spy x Family: Season 2: Love this series. I told @cobainwasmurdered in chat but the Anya/Becky/School stuff just kills me in the best way possible. Yor and Loid are great too although I'd like to see them have more interaction and be more... family-ish.
