The Last Of Us VGA 2012 Trailer [HD]

Developer: Naughty Dog
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Release: May 7th 2013
Platform: PS3
Modes: Single and Multi-player
Web: www.thelastofus.com

Overview:
The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind. Nature encroaches upon civilization, forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

Gameplay:
It has been confirmed by Naughty Dog that the player will take control of Joel, while Ellie will be controlled by the AI. The game will involve both gunfighting and melee combat, and it will have a cover system. The player will fight off the Infected — former humans who were infected by the fungus — and the Survivors — other humans that are not infected but are hostile towards Joel and Ellie. Also, a new gameplay mechanic the developers have introduced is something that they call "dynamic stealth", meaning that there are many different types of strategies and techniques that the player can use at any given time as they approach a new situation, to which enemies will react differently. Though situations can have a different outcome, it all mainly depends on the player's preference of play.

What can I say, looks fucking amazing. With news of the PS4 on the horizon, this might be the last "holy shit EPIC" game on cur-gen console.

This looks right up my alley. The "journey across what remains of the United States" is a very interesting part of it. I know it starts in Boston and screens have been released showing a very faithful recreation of Pittsburgh. I wonder how many cities they can actually cover.

I thought this was coming a little later, so May doesn't seem that far away to me. Really looking forward to this.

Has any gameplay footage of this game been released?

This and MGS5, for sure. I've been looking forward to this one since the concept screens came out a while back. I wonder what the multiplayer aspect will be..

The game is finally out next week and reviews have started pouring in today. Perfect scores coming in from all over the place. Joystiq, Eurogamer, IGN, Machinima, Destructiod, etc. Of course Gamestop gave it an 8 and someone at Polygon gave it a 7.5.

This one was going to be a victim of my backlog, unfortunately. Cancelled my pre-order and will probably just pick it up down the road. =\

I am right on schedule to wrap up Dead Island: Riptide before next week so I can use it as a trade in!

Yeah, I was tempted to get the Survival Edition, but I just pre-ordered the regular copy. Will definitely be playing this next week.

This is a great movie; not so much the masterpiece of a game everyone is making it out to be.

I'm thinking about finally getting a PS3 for this, and the other exclusives I never played. Way to be late to the game, self! Do tell if it's good or not.

If you do get a PS3, get the Uncharted trilogy, Part 1 & 2 should be super cheap by now, 3 is probably somewhat reduced price too.

3 is around $20 now. You can get 1 & 2 as a bundle for around $20 as well.

I haven't read any reviews to avoid spoilers, and have only seen the early trailers from a year or two ago. Going in this with blind faith for Naughty Dog. Those first trailers sold me instantly.

Fuck, you guys are killing me. Okay. Let me know how the multiplayer is.. and if it's good, I'll grab it sooner than I planned to and we'll all group up for some mass murder of creepy fungus zombies.

I take it back... the middle stretch of this game might be the most fun I've had with a game ever. I haven't even gotten into the multiplayer yet. But yeah great game.

If you have Playstation Plus, Uncharted 3 will be free some time this month.

How did you get it so early?

One of our local Targets broke street date on Tuesday, but I haven't picked it up.

Did they do it on purpose or did they just assume it released on a Tuesday as most things usually do?

Good to hear. I'm aiming to pick this up around the time the store opens, and will be ignoring a huge work project for the first half of the day. Really looking forward to it.

Yeah I picked it up too. But I thought I was supposed to get two DLC codes with the Gamestop preorder. I only got a code for the soundtrack. Gotta look into this. Weak.

EDIT: Ah, false alarm. A single code for both packs was given.

Was about an hour and a half in before realizing the autosave glitch. Will have to do everything over again. Supposedly playing the game offline will guarantee the bug won't happen. That sucks.

But it's been fun so far. Avoiding trailers, and in depth summaries made the beginning way more suspenseful for me. My jaw dropped in disbelief at one point.

What's the autosave glitch?

Have you tried multi yet?

I think I'm going to try multiplayer after I finish the single campaign. What's the deal with the $10 online pass?

The autosave glitch prevented people from saving. When pausing the game to attempt a manual save, it just wouldn't let you. You'd get a message of "Autosaving...please wait" and it would just stay there no matter how long you waited.

Love the game so far. The auto save glitch made me play the first hour or so over, which sucked. Other than that though no complaints.

How is it looking technically? Any fps dips or screen-tearing? I've got some discs I want to trade in so I might hop on the bandwagon, after all, this weekend.
