Well, that owns. I thought for sure Kanye was just going to keep getting gayer and synthier, but here he is rapping (well!) over nasty drums and a King Crimson sample. Cool.
I'm shocked as well that Kanye is cognizant of the fact that 98% of people hated 808s and Heartbreaks (2% being me and Czech) and decided to go back to the basics.

Hey, I liked 808s, but it was a pretty well self-contained thing and I'm glad he's letting it stand as such. He seems to have passed the gay synth, autotune rapper-singer torch to boring ass Drake.

He can't be boring... he's popular!

It was weird to hear how many rappers were praising Drake right before he really blew up. The way they were gushing over his boring flow and decent pen game like the Prince of rap just arrived.

I just got home from following Nicki Minaj all over the state. Three shows in three nights. I had never been to a "rap" show (I know she's essentially pop at the moment but trust me these crowds were rap crowds) and I had no idea how much of a contact high I would get. Seriously EVERYONE in there was openly smoking in front of security and everything.

Also, rap shows are way better than rock shows because everyone is too busy trying to look cool instead of act like jackasses.

This is true. The Southern Legends of the Mic Tour I went to had Devin the Dude and Scarface there. That induces heavy smoking from everyone there. It was in a smallish venue that was in a building at the fairgrounds. EVERYONE was smoking. Even Devin the Dude was taking hits off people's weed from the crowd. They had cops standing around just watching everyone smoke. It was crazy. Although they did search everyone (heavily) at the door. Everyone had to be patted down by cops. It was very thorough.

In Jacksonville they patted you down to the point where I felt like I needed the lady's name afterwards. But in Orlando they audibly scoffed at the mention of being searched. In Tampa they ran a metal detector over you but even when it beeped they just let you through, which was bizarre.

I had the Jacksonville treatment when I went. Sadly it was a guy cop. I was so shocked about how thorough the pat down was that I was out of it and wasn't sure where to go afterward.

10. "Space Bound"
11. "Cinderella Man"
12. "25 to Life"

Kobe is a singer/rapper neo-sould type of dude. It threw me off the first time I saw his name on one of Fabolous's songs off his new mixtape, I thought it was Kobe Bryant at first when i saw the name. Kobe has tried rapping several times before, so...

Glad you enjoyed yourself, CM. You should check out a Roots, Eminem, Wu-Tang, T.I., Kanye or Jeezy concert. all of them put on a damn good show, every night.

Well, I guess it's not pop music per se, but it's pretty much the same self-aggrandizing bullshit pervasive in most rap. That thumping bassline and keyboard riff is pretty tired for me too, but that's just personal preference.

Someone post the new Eminem and Pink song. He spits hot fire but I am not feeling it right now. The beat DJ Khalil made has its moments in spurts but is inconsistent and a little gay.

That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Why in God's name he put Pink on a track I'll never know but oh well. Has the track w/ Rhiannon leaked yet?

I've probably made as many or fewer posts about Gucci Mane as BUTT has about Meatloaf and Jim Steinman, so
