PK already started talking about this in random, but I figured it was worth it's own thread.

So I see Steam is having another one of their insane sales up until July 4th. The 2K Pack, which includes 11 games like both BioShocks, Borderlands and all it's expansions and Civ IV and all it's expansions is only $90 (down from $359). You basically get every 2K game that's on Steam.

Like most Steam sales, it has normal sales that are good until the 4th, and Daily deals that are only good, obviously, for the one day. I'd recommend not buying anything that isn't a daily deal until the 4th, because the second you buy something, it'll wind up going on sale even cheaper the next day.

I'm hoping the Telltale pack goes even lower in price. I've almost bought Sam and Max on XBLA about three times now. I'd rather play those games on PC with a mouse, though.

I picked up the Telltale pack the last time it was on sale (Christmas) and to be honest, I haven't installed anything besides Telltale Texas Hold'Em (which isn't an awful game of holdem, as far as I'm concerned). I already played Episode 104, I think it was...whichever one was free and involved Abe Lincoln.

I liked the game, I just can't bring myself to play those kinds of games very often because I know exactly what'll happen: I'll play for a bit until I get stuck, and then I'll stop playing the game & just solely rely on the FAQ going step-by-step to get through the story. At some point I'll get into them, but the fact that another season released shortly after I got the big deal was disheartening.

I played season 1 of Sam & Max, and..I really didn't like it. It wasn't anywhere near as good as the original game, and each episode followed the same formula almost to a science.

I hear season 2 is supposed to be a lot better though.

How important is Gothic 1 to the series? $2 for 2 games might be too good to pass up.

And on that note, is it really better than piracy to pay $1 per game like that?

I have no idea about the gothic series truthfully. A quick look on wiki says that G2 is a direct sequel to the first Gothic game, but I don't know how lost you'd be without playing it. As far as the piracy question goes, I'm pretty sure Valve gets the ok from all the publishers before they put these games on massive discount, so that alone makes it better than piracy.


Edit: asked on another forum about gothic.

You might be a bit confused, but they do sum up what happened at the beginning. It's worth picking up the original from GoG.com, and then getting this pack.

But the original is $10 on GOG, and if you're only getting 2 and 3 because they're $2 total, yeah, that's a bit of a jump.

I'm MasterThrasher (on Stream) and I have no friends on there. I bought Left 4 Dead when it was on sale. It took a little while to download it. I broke the first rule of PC gaming by trying to play it with a gamepad instead of a keyboard and mouse. I won't make that mistake again.

They opened strong, but nothing in there appeals to me, unless I didn't already own GTA4 or TF2, which most everyone does. And SF4 on the PC is doubly dead now that SSF4 is out on consoles.

I take that back, I enjoy playing Osmos. For $2.50, it's worth it. I paid $5 when it came out on the Games for Windows store.
