There are eight million games in the Naked City. L.A. Noire is one of them.

I guess if I had one complaint, it's that you really can't fail a case. It goes along to it's conclusion no matter how good or bad your techniques are. It doesn't help that I've watched too much Law & Order so I keep looking for the big twist in the tale when there might not even be one.

Ran into a glitch on The Fallen Idol case, I was doing an interview and got no sound so I had to guess, fortunately I nailed it, but it was kind of irritating.

I do like that based on a choice I made during the Hit and Run, I just wrapped the case up and totally ignored interviewing several other suspects. Adds some replay value, and the little hints at the end of the case giving a bit of a reveal of what you could have done differently is a nice touch.

I fucked up chasing down the car owner in the Hit & Run case so many times it just let me skip it to where we apprehended him. And I'm also about 50/50 on the interrogation. Since I got the Gamestop pre-order, I went and found one of the badges (in the Hall Of Records)...it was easier than I thought it was going to be.

Yeah, I'm a methodical SOB when it comes to looking for clues, so I found something pretty important early on in that case that didn't come into play until later (I think you know what I'm talking about).

I found the same thing by happenstance.

When I chose to go to the Coroner after the first run with the wife, I skipped chasing down the people who actually did the Hit and Run, and went right to the chase scene with the boyfriend.

One problem I have with the game is that someone tells me the truth, but I think they no more. They aren't exactly lying imo, so I select Truth and I get it wrong. I guess I should put doubt, but it doesn't make sense to put that if I believe they are telling me the truth.

Yeah thats what I mean. Doubt turns to Cole just screaming at them instead of being sly and trying to get more out of them.

I did my best to try and buy this today. But I'm convinced that no one works in K-Mart's electronic dept.

I don't know if that's actually a trait of being "by the book", more so the fact he's been shown to be very idealistic working in a very black and white view of the world. He's shown empathy to characters
I'm on the Golden Butterfly Case, and he doesn't arrest a guy because his daughters there and lets the guy come and turn himself in
, so him going SCREAMING MANIAC at people when he doesn't have proof seems a bit slipshod.

Maybe I just suck and questioning I think I got like 7 of 26 responses right on the last case I closed.

I'll spoiler this even though there's no specifics, just in case.

The Black Dahlia crime scenes are kind of intense.

I guess that's what I meant; he's very clear about what he thinks is right and wrong and will go after you if he thinks you are hiding the truth from him.

With interrogations, I figured out that using Doubt more often than not is the way to go if you have no evidence they are lying but they still won't meet your gaze. Also, always, ALWAYS talk to the bartenders first if there is a bar involved in the case; they usually have something you can throw in a suspect's face later on.

been playing it all day and loving it, a little surprised at the order in investigation types, figured homicide would be the top tier.

It's fun recognizing all of the character actors that play parts in this game. So far I've had about four or five instances of "Hey, it's That Guy/Girl!" Greg Grunberg is the only one I can name without going to IMDB though.

I seem to either get all the questions right or miss them all but like 1 depending on who I'm questioning. Guess some are harder to read than others.

hope this becomes a series, can do sequels in different cities, Chicago, New York, maybe hop overseas and do a London one.

What's the difference between doubting someone and thinking they're lying? It fucked me up both times just now.

Hmm, I get that, but it's like, and keep in mind, I've only got so far as to questioning the one witness in the shoe store and then interrogating the murderer, I know the whole aspect of looking for tells, so when the witness wouldn't look at me, I hit doubt, and instead of gently prodding for more information, my character threatened to take the woman to jail. Then I got lucky saying lies and doubts while doing the interrogating.

if you ask them a question about something specific, and you have evidence that goes against their answer, then they are lying. If you ask them and you don't have any specific evidence but they are still being shady, then hit 'em with the doubt.

this character makes no sense to me. I wish when I hit doubt dude wouldn't always go into hothead mode like some bad cop good cop routine.

Intimidation, I would guess. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I really love how each desk feels like a completely new game; there's a new partner, new vehicles, new area. I also can see how fucking up a questioning can really mess up a case; I did one in a Vice case and the entire thing went to hell and I ended up getting one star on it.

I haven't read a lot into the plot, but since they keep flashing back to the war I bet he did something to doubt himself and it got people killed, and now whenever he has doubt in his thoughts he just kinda goes off the handle about it and can't handle that stress of not knowing the right answer.

Can you go back and see what you scored on each case?

Go to the Cases option on the main menu.

And yeah, Cole's demeanor is definitely related to what happened to him in the war.

I like the game, it just seems like I know who the guy I want to arrest is early on, and I end up being right every time so far, but I can't seem to "get" there due to the game mechanics. Sometimes I could corner a guy with questions, but I can't ask them. I doubted a guy because of a certain thing he said because I thought he knew more, then Cole accuses him of being the murder and threatens to put him in jail? Not what i was intending....

yeah that's what I mean. I figured Lie would lead to more accusations like that while doubt would be him being coy and digging further with his questions.

I did a little free roaming, jumped in around 15 cars. I saw a fucking BUS but stupid me didn't stop and try to take it. I ended up eventually (and accidentally) driving into a street crime case ("Gangfight") which was fun.
