There are eight million games in the Naked City. L.A. Noire is one of them.

Just finished the Homicide desk. That final case is the best thing in the game so far.

Just finished this. Was awesome. Real tense.

yeah that's what I mean. I figured Lie would lead to more accusations like that while doubt would be him being coy and digging further with his questions.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem. I feel like when developers put something this vague in, they're just trying to extend the playtime.

if they do another game they should have a couple options when you pick doubt, like aggressive or slick, it'd add another bit of difficulty as just getting doubt right won't be enough, you have to pick the right way to call it into question based on who you're questioning, some can be intimidated into giving it up while others will need to be charmed/smooth talked into it.

Yeah, I'd love that Doubt, then Intimidate or Charm. I think what happened is Doubt-Lie are supposed to be almost the same, but you can't prove doubt, so they had him react the same way for both. It'd be more clear if it was Believe, Accuse Lie, Prove Lie.

Don't know how many here have played it, but the game Alpha Protocol has a system pretty much like that where you choose between "Suave, Professional, and Aggressive" and it is indeed pretty damn awesome. I've read many people aren't fans of the gameplay elements of that game, but the dialogue elements are great, and from the sounds of it maybe Rockstar should try and take that approach next time around.

Is anyone else's PS3 overheating during this game? I'm in the 'Fallen Idol' case and my PS3 starts freaking out and gets super loud.

The Arson desk is kind of tough. It's hard to find clues in completely burned out buildings. I actually had to use a few Intuition points to find the last few clues I was missing.

I am still on homicide but I'm loving this game so far. I've gotten 4 or 5 stars on all but one case so far.

I kind of hit a good stride there for awhile with interrogations, then it all went to hell the pentultimate Homicide case. I loved the way Homicide wrapped up. Loved.

I wish places you have been could be easier found on the map after you go there, like in Free Roam. I want to go back to the big crazy movie set but I can't fuck find the thing.

I also just did the "Death From Above" street crime mission, which took me three tries because my timing and aim were slightly off at the end. If you have done it you will know what I'm talking about.

Just finished. It's my Game of the Year so far and another game is going to have to really blow me away with it's storytelling to take over that spot. The "games as art" people now have an Exhibit A.

Yeah, that one was pretty lame. I did it three or four times myself.

"Game As Art" I think Ebert's assessment is valid enough, that art is something you observe and aren't interacting with, thus games can't be "art."

I bought the game this week (and got Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection as my free game at K-Mart). I'm trying to get through Alan Wake first because I know if I leave it now for L.A. Noire I won't come back to it. By the time I start I'm sure everyone else will have moved on to something else.

I'm behind with you. I didn't do the K-mart deal because I had locked in a pre-order with Hastings online in December when they accidentally put pre-order on L..A. Noire and a few others for $29.99. Figured half price was worth waiting a few extras days but they didn't ship until Tuesday and must be using a super slow service because it hasn't shown up yet.

I got through episodes 3, 4, and 5 on Wake today. Trying to hustle through. From what I've read 6 (the last) is the second longest, so I don't have it in me tonight to finish it, but by tomorrow night I'll be ready to start L.A. I'll do the DLC chapters another time.

Just finished up.

I thought the first act was stronger than the second as a whole. Even though I understand why they went the route they did, the Vice/Arson stuff wasn't as compelling case work (granted walking all over for clues for the Arsons was annoying in a good way) and I didn't like that the last cases leading to the climax you jumped to Kelso. The last case itself was one of the better ones, but it still felt less intense than the Black Dahlia stuff earlier on.

I think if they'd have flipped the Vice-Homicide desk sewing the seeds of the affair while he was working Vice and then having Roy cut his balls off after he'd put Black Dahlia under wraps the "fall from grace" would have been more poignant, and made the second act stronger.

Still a remarkable game in spite of that. I need to go back and redo some of the cases I just swung and missed on, but the game has to be a strong candidate for Game of the Year.

Random side note I think the coolest car in the game is the Delahaye 135MS Cabriolet, and I can't find any in game pics for it to show.

Rusty makes the Homicide desk a lot of fun. My favourite pasttime is annoying him.

At 91.9% complete. The game looks great but it's like GTA for speds.

I think anyone who went in expecting GTA would be disappointed. It wasn't meant to be GTA or Red Dead... at all. I mean if someone bought it thinking that then they didn't do much research at all.

Anyhow...I just finished the main story. Overall I enjoyed the game. Far from perfect, but held my interest through out. It picked up towards the end. The ending was interesting(although I've read some hated it), and when you do finish make sure you watch alllllllllllllllllllll the way through the credits as there is another cut scene after the end credits.

I was hoping for a game with similar qualities to the Tex Murphy series. Without hints, those games can be difficult and punishing which this doesn't feel like at all. I could faceroll on the controller and probably win the game with the replay value coming from clues you've missed and maybe some extra dialogue from wrong questions. I like what they've done, I was just hoping for something more.

I think they got a nice little balance though. If they went "too brutal" on the interrogation/clue finding part they'd lose some of the casual gamers that would buy the title because it's Rockstar. I found it tricky enough, and actually restarted a couple of missions because I was whiffing the fuck out of interrogations. The aspect is that the story will progress even if you totally suck on the questioning side, but you'll get yelled at by your superior officer instead of commended. I think what they have here is something really interesting, although I don't know how well a sequel would work or if it could become a Franchise.
